When I first stepped into A Room with a View Apartment, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from the name — but wow, they weren’t kidding about that view part. This four-star property sits right in Dorsoduro, which locals will tell you is the artsy, less touristy side of Venice, and you can actually feel the difference the moment you arrive. The building itself has that weathered Venetian charm, and the entrance feels more like you’re visiting a friend’s place than checking into a typical hotel.

Location & Neighborhood

Dorsoduro is where I’d want to stay if I lived in Venice — it’s got this authentic neighborhood vibe that you just don’t get near San Marco. You’re walking distance from the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the Accademia, but more importantly, you’re surrounded by actual Venetians going about their daily lives. There’s this little bakery around the corner that opens at 6 AM, and the evening aperitivo scene along the Zattere waterfront is something you’ll want to experience. The location score of 9.4 makes total sense when you realize you can easily walk everywhere but still escape the cruise ship crowds.

The Space

The apartment setup really works here — it feels like you’re actually living in Venice rather than just visiting. The room I stayed in had these tall windows that frame the canal views perfectly, and honestly, I spent way too much time just watching the water taxis and gondolas drift by. The kitchen is compact but functional, which is great because you can grab fresh ingredients from the Rialto market and actually cook with them. The whole space has been thoughtfully updated while keeping those original Venetian details that make you feel connected to the city’s history.

What Makes It Special

You know what really struck me? The staff actually knows the neighborhood — they’ll tell you which bacaro serves the best cicchetti or when the local church bells ring (spoiler: it’s often). The property feels intimate in a way that larger hotels can’t match, and there’s something special about having your own little corner of Venice to retreat to after a day of exploring. The fact that couples rate this place so highly makes sense — there’s definitely a romantic quality to watching the sunset from your window while the city settles into evening.

Why Guests Love It

This place gets it right because it doesn’t try to be everything to everyone. Instead, it focuses on giving you an authentic Venetian experience in one of the city’s most livable neighborhoods. You’re not paying for a fancy lobby or a restaurant you’ll never use — you’re paying for location, character, and that view they promised.   Beautiful clean apartment with a lovely view, on the quiet side of Dorsoduro, away from tourist crowds. A lovely peaceful experience and kind, helpful hosts.

  Die Kontaktperson "Catarina" war sehr freundlich und entgegenkommend!
  Ankunft, Schlüsselübergabe ist unkompliziert.
  Sehr gute Lage.
  Vaporetto-Station (Nr. 6) vor dem Haus, Station "Zattere" (Nr. 2, Nr. 5) in wenigen Gehminuten erreichbar.
  
  What could be improved: Leider sind die beiden Türschlösser der zentralen Haustür kompliziert und "tricky" zu bedienen. Hinzu kommt das eigentlich untragbare Detail, dass die ständigen Hausbewohner abends/nachts die Haustür von innen verriegeln und man trotz Schlüssel nicht ins Haus kommt! Wir mussten daher leider nachts die Kontaktperson zur Wohnung anrufen und abwarten bis diese zur Wohnung kommt, um die Situation durch Herausklingeln anderer Hausparteien aufzulösen – das war für alle Beteiligten sehr unangenehm.
  Leider war auch das Wasser in der Dusche alle 3 Tage kalt!
  Wären dieses zwei Probleme nicht würde ich diese Wohnung jederzeit gerne wieder buchen.
