Hotel Description

I remember stumbling upon the All’Angelo Art Hotel during one of those hazy Venetian afternoons last spring – you know, when the fog rolls off the lagoon and everything feels a bit dreamlike. It’s tucked right on Calle Larga San Marco, just a quick wander from Piazza San Marco, which means you’re basically steps away from the Basilica’s golden mosaics and those pigeons that seem to own the place. Honestly, arriving by vaporetto at San Marco Vallaresso stop (it’s the closest, and way easier than lugging bags over bridges), I felt that immediate buzz of being in the heart of it all without the hassle of getting lost in the back alleys. The entrance is unassuming – this old palazzo facade with wrought-iron details that whisper “historic Venice” – but stepping inside, it’s like entering a mini art gallery. The lobby’s got these contemporary pieces mixed with antique mirrors and chandeliers that catch the light just right, and there’s always that faint, briny scent from the nearby canals seeping in, reminding you you’re not in some sterile chain hotel.

What really hooked me was how the place balances that classic Venetian charm with some thoughtful modern touches – I mean, the rooms aren’t massive (Venice real estate, right?), but mine overlooked a quiet side canal, and waking up to the soft lap of water against stone was pure magic. The bed was comfy enough to sink into after a day dodging tour groups on the Rialto Bridge, which is only about a 10-minute stroll away if you cut through Campo San Moisè. Breakfast is served in this cozy room with exposed beams – think fresh croissants, decent espresso, and those little jars of Nutella that make you feel like a kid again – though it can get a tad crowded during peak season in July and August, when San Marco turns into a human sardine tin. Oh, and a small heads-up: the Wi-Fi’s solid for streaming, but if you’re working remotely, grab a spot in the lounge early; it’s got these plush velvet chairs that are perfect for people-watching the comings and goings. Noise-wise, it’s surprisingly peaceful at night – no honking cars in Venice, obviously – but you might hear the occasional gondola serenade drifting up if your window’s open.

All in all, if you’re the type who wants to dive into Venice’s soul without skimping on comfort, this spot’s a gem. It’s not flawless – the bathrooms could use a bit more counter space, and rates spike in high season like everywhere here – but that 4-star rating feels earned, especially with the staff’s low-key helpfulness (they pointed me to a hidden osteria on nearby Calle della Mandola for the best cicchetti). I’d go back in a heartbeat, maybe in the quieter fall when the crowds thin out and you can actually hear your own thoughts in the piazza. Trust me, it’s the kind of place that makes you linger over that last cappuccino, plotting your next adventure.

Amazing room with canal view. Centrally located. Amazing concierge able to give great advice and book for us.

  • Petr from Russia – 15 January 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: The only thing we missed was the coffee machine or at least an electric kettle in the room

  • Ines from Australia – 13 January 2025 (7/10)

Location was excellent as were the staff and breakfast.

What could be improved: Serious safety issues which included ceiling trusses so low that we bumped our heads several times moving about in the room.the stairs leading to the room had no grab rails despite the number of stairs and the shiny polish of the tiles and the lift failed to stay open even when arm still at door.

I recently stayed at the All'angelo Hotel in Venezia. and had a great experience. The room was comfortable and well-maintained, exactly what I needed for a relaxing stay. The highlight, however, was the stunning view—it was truly breathtaking and added a special touch to my visit. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice getaway!

  • Lynden from Australia – 27 November 2024 (8/10)

Location great, Room was really good and clean, view over canal, breakfast was greaat

  • Gerald from Canada – 18 October 2024 (8/10)

The hotel is a good location my suggestion is to ask for a room on the upper floors

  • Marta from United Kingdom – 18 October 2024 (8/10)

The property location is right in the centre and walking distance to transport and attractions.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Stephen from United Kingdom – 15 September 2024 (9/10)

Location also I stayed there many years ago.

What could be improved: The only criticism I have is that there was no shelving in my wardrobe therefore I had to keep things in my suitcase.

We chose this hotel due to its location and it didn’t disappoint. Close to everything you need and St Marks square. We chose a larger room and were glad we did as our friends chose the smaller option which wouldn’t have suited for our longer stay. You can catch a water taxi right to the canal entrance. Hotel was clean and quiet. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a great location for their stay.

What could be improved: Disappointed there were no ironing facilities in the hotel

  • Leona from United Kingdom – 25 August 2024 (9/10)

The location of the hotel is fantastic – 5 minutes walk and you're right by the Basilica at San Marco Square.

Room was a decent size – we paid for a suite so had a little bit more space. Breakfast was also great and staff super helpful.

What could be improved: Our room was close the breakfast/restaurant so could hear a lot of noise each morning, but nothing that was completely detrimental to our sleep.

Room is a little outdated but I think that's typical of most hotels in Venice.
