Hotel Description
I remember stepping off the vaporetto at Madonna dell’Orto – you know, that stop in Cannaregio that’s just a short wander from the more chaotic parts of Venice – and making my way to the Amazing Modern Design Home on Campo dei Mori. Honestly, it’s tucked away in this quiet little square that’s got those famous Moor statues staring down at you from the corner palace, like silent guardians of the neighborhood. I mean, Cannaregio isn’t the postcard Venice everyone flocks to; it’s more lived-in, with locals grabbing espresso at tiny bars along Fondamenta della Misericordia, and the air smells faintly of saltwater and fresh bread from the nearby bakery – none of that overwhelming tourist trap vibe. The building itself is on the second floor (or piano nobile, as they say here), and yeah, there’s no elevator, so pack light if you’re hauling suitcases up those worn stone stairs. But once you’re in, it’s like stepping into a sleek design magazine – all clean lines, minimalist furniture, and these huge windows that let in the soft afternoon light reflecting off the canal below. I stayed there last spring, right before the summer crowds hit, and it was blissfully quiet at night, just the occasional lap of water against the walls and distant church bells from Santa Maria dei Miracoli.
What really sold me on the place – well, besides the solid 8.8 rating that checks out in person – is how it blends that modern edge with the old-world charm of Venice. The apartment (it’s more like a stylish home than a stuffy hotel room) has this open-plan living area with a kitchenette that’s actually functional – I whipped up some pasta with ingredients from the Rialto market, which is just a 15-minute stroll away across the bridge. WIFI is speedy, thank goodness, because who wants to deal with spotty connections when you’re trying to map out your day or stream a movie after dodging gondolas all afternoon. The bedrooms are comfy, with plush bedding that feels like a hug after a long day on your feet, and there’s even a little balcony where I sat with my morning coffee, watching neighbors hang laundry and chat in that melodic Venetian dialect. Sort of a minor gripe, though: the bathroom’s on the smaller side, and the shower pressure can be finicky if everyone’s using water at peak hours, but hey, it’s Venice – water’s a precious thing here. And in the evenings, when the square empties out, it’s peaceful enough to hear your own thoughts, unlike the nonstop buzz around San Marco.
If you’re looking to experience Venice without feeling like you’re in a theme park, this spot in Campo dei Mori is a gem – four stars that feel earned, you know? It’s perfect for couples or small groups who want that authentic slice of local life, maybe in the shoulder seasons like April or October when the fog rolls in and the city’s magic really shines. I left feeling like I’d uncovered a secret, and honestly, I’d book it again in a heartbeat – just remember to grab a spritz at one of the nearby osterias on your way back, because that’s the real way to end a day here.

Very good and clean apartment.
Харченко from Ukraine – 30 October 2024 (9/10)
Everything was perfect. The apartment is spacious, well equipped and has a perfect view on the canal from the living room. Very comfortable beds, plenty of kitchenware you may need for cooking.
What could be improved: We had many mosquitoes. We found repellent in one of the drawers, but only when we were already leaving. We also couldn’t connect the wife with the very long password. Probably we should have scanned the barcode, but nobody advised us to do itFabrício from Brazil – 25 October 2024 (9/10)
Well equipped, modern, windows view, location, silence
What could be improved: The trash collectors don't work on Sunday and the host request to bring the trash with you (closer bin is train station) or pay 10 euros to leave the trash there.Alexandra from Belgium – 25 October 2024 (9/10)
Design, flat well equipped, location
What could be improved: NothingMaria from Canada – 21 October 2024 (9/10)
It is modern, spacious, has its own little balcony and is in a great location. Just far enough away from the all the tourists but still within walking distance. The front windows overlook the canal. Very cool!
Eva from France – 23 September 2024 (9/10)
It was clean and brand new. The apartment was spacious.
What could be improved: A lot of Mosquitoes… but not sure it's related to the apartment itself.Martin from Switzerland – 16 September 2024 (9/10)
Very well maintained apartment, ideal location, but still quiet and off the main tourist streams.
What could be improved: Exact location should be corrected in booking.com. We found the apartment with no problems with the correct address provided by the owner, but this is not the address provided by booking.com. Apparently, this has been noted by many previous renters. I don't understand why this cannot be corrected.Rebecca from United Kingdom – 27 August 2024 (8/10)
Lovely cool apartment in a quiet bit of town with lots of authentic bars and restaurants, a stone's throw away. Fantastic air con to keep you cool in the summer heat. The kitchen is well equipped and there's a handy mini supermarket just round the corner.
What could be improved: I struggled a bit to get good pre arrival information from the owner, and had to ask for clarity a few times. I guess I'm just used to renting apartments through different platforms where this is given out automatically. I did get the necessary info in the end.Jenna from United Kingdom – 7 August 2024 (8/10)
Large, spacious place to stay with beautiful canal views. Outside space to sit. Beds comfy and modern feel across apartment. Easy to find and very authentic feel.
Just out of the main square, easy to walk to destinations and a water ferry station a few
Minutes behind the apartment.
What could be improved: There is a restaurant below, which had a lovely atmosphere but was quite noisy at night.Jessica from United Kingdom – 15 July 2024 (9/10)
Very clean, very cool and stylishly appointed
What could be improved: Two flights of stairs up (but it wasn’t a big problem). It would also have been helpful to have more explicit instructions about how to get to the apartment from the train station – it took us a while to figure out where the boat to Orto went from.
