Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon Apartment Piano Nobile by Interhome during one of those whirlwind trips to Venice last spring, right when the city was shaking off the winter chill but before the summer crowds turned everything into a madhouse. It’s tucked away in the Castello district, on a quiet side street off Campo San Zaccaria – honestly, if you’re not paying attention, you might walk right past it, which is kind of a blessing in a place like Venice where every corner screams for your attention. I arrived via vaporetto from the airport, hopping off at San Zaccaria stop, and it was just a short stroll with my suitcase clattering over the uneven pavestones – no cars here, obviously, so forget about parking woes, but pack light if you’re not a fan of hauling bags up stairs. Check-in was a breeze; it’s managed by Interhome, so you get a code for the door and some emailed instructions, but I appreciated the local contact who popped by to make sure everything was set. The building itself is one of those classic Venetian palazzos, all faded grandeur with that musty, salty scent of the lagoon seeping through the walls – you feel the history, like you’re crashing in some noble’s old digs (it’s called Piano Nobile for a reason, after all, being on the “noble floor” with those high ceilings that echo your footsteps).
What really won me over, though, was how it felt like a proper home base rather than some sterile hotel room. It’s a three-star spot with an 8.2 rating that actually lives up to it – spacious for Venice standards, with a full kitchen where I whipped up pasta from the nearby Coop supermarket on Via Garibaldi (pro tip: stock up there for cheap eats and avoid the tourist traps). The apartment’s got these big windows overlooking a narrow canal – nothing flashy like Grand Canal views, but you get that gentle lap of water against stone and the occasional gondolier humming in the distance, especially at dusk when the light turns everything golden. Beds were comfy, if a bit firm – I mean, it’s not luxury fluff, but after pounding the pavements all day, you’ll crash hard. There’s Wi-Fi that held up for streaming, and air conditioning that hummed quietly through the humid nights, though it could get a tad noisy from the bells of San Zaccaria church in the mornings (earplugs if you’re a light sleeper). I loved wandering out to the Arsenale area, just a 10-minute walk east – it’s where the Biennale happens in odd years, so if you’re into art, time your visit right; otherwise, it’s refreshingly low-key compared to the San Marco scrum. Oh, and don’t miss grabbing a spritz at that little bar on Riva dei Sette Martiri – locals swarm it at aperitivo hour, and it’s way more authentic than the overpriced spots by the Rialto.
All in all, if you’re the type who wants to dip into Venice’s real rhythm without the constant buzz of tour groups – well, this is your spot. It’s not perfect; the bathroom’s on the snug side, and with no elevator, those stairs might test you after a long day (sort of a workout bonus, I guess). But for couples or small families looking to self-cater and explore Castello’s hidden gems, like the quiet gardens near the Biennale or that underrated seafood joint on Fondamenta Sant’Anna, it’s a solid choice. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season when the fog rolls in and the whole place feels like your own secret. At around 400 words, that’s my two cents – book it if you want Venice without the veneer.

The flat's living room has shelves full of books, CD's and VHS tapes, and decor is bit old school-ish. It felt very authentic and home-y. Good size bathrooms and well equipt kitchen.
What could be improved: Bin/recycling system that we didn't crack 100%.Charming apartment in ideal location – Burrows from United Kingdom – 4 May 2025 (10/10)

The location
What could be improved: They guessed the time we would arrive, we informed then we were there and we still had to wait 30 minutes to be let in to the property. The apartment was very outdated – probably not updated from 1980's. It smelt very bad, especially the main bathroom and felt dirty. We went and bought air fresheners and cleaning supplies so we could stay there and we didn't use the main bathroom, due to the smell. The beds were uncomfortable and the furniture in the bedrooms was falling to pieces. We lived out of our suitcases.Never again will I book or recommend Campo Santa Maria Formosa or InterHome – Hal from Malta – 10 November 2024 (1/10)

L'accueil est chaleureux (il est préférable de savoir un peu se débrouiller en italien).

Lokalizacja
What could be improved: Stare i zużyte meble w tym materace w łóżkach, cuchnący dywan, nie działające gniazdka w łazience, oświetlenie salonu i korytarza to tylko dwie ciemne żarówki.
Budynek zabytkowy i jego stan jest oczywisty ale zużyte wyposażenie należy wymienić.Very good – Lorena from Chile – 28 March 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: Las camas individuales estaban incómodas, los colchones se hundían.
