Location & Neighborhood

Dorsoduro is where locals actually want to live, and staying here means you’re steps away from the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the stunning Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute (which gives the property its name, by the way). What I love about this area is how it balances culture with everyday Venetian life — you’ll find excellent bacari for aperitivo, but you’re also close enough to San Marco that you can easily walk there when you want the full tourist experience. The fondamenta itself is peaceful, especially in the evenings when the day-trippers have headed back to the mainland.

The Accommodation

The apartment-style setup here is perfect if you want more space than a typical hotel room offers. You get a real sense of living like a local, with enough room to spread out and actually unpack your suitcase — something that’s pretty rare in Venice where space is at a premium. The furnishings strike that sweet spot between functional and charming, and the windows let in plenty of light during the day. Here’s what’s really convenient — the Salute vaporetto stop is practically at your doorstep, which means you can hop on a water bus and be at St. Mark’s Square in about ten minutes. But honestly, walking is often faster and definitely more interesting. You can stroll to the Accademia Bridge in maybe fifteen minutes, and the whole Zattere promenade is right there for those evening walks along the Giudecca Canal. The area never feels too crowded, even during peak season, which is something you’ll appreciate after fighting through the crowds at the Rialto.

  The owner spoke English and was waiting for us . No wait time to check in. There was a booklet with information and had text communication at all times. Would definitely recommend this property.

  The apartment was charming and the location was very good. Our host, Chiara met us with the keys. She was very helpful and gave us good advice for getting around the area and suggestions for food and attractions to visit. She was easy to reach by text and quick to respond to all our questions.

  Beautiful quiet location with a nice view on a little canal, just minutes away from the public gondola taking you to St. Marco. Supermarket with all goods around the corner

  Chiara was very helpful before and during our stay. The apartment was very spacious and clean. Location is good (about 25 minutes walk from St Marco sq or you could take the gondola to pass you across for 2 euros). Beds were comfy.
  
  What could be improved: Photos make it look like it has a small balcony, it actually doesn't you can barely set a foot there. No big deal though.

  Chiara met us at the property to hand over keys & give us a run down on the apartment and the area. The location is fabulous – a short stroll to cafes, bars and restaurants. Supermarket just around the corner. The Traghetto (gondola ferry) is a 2 min walk from apartment and took us straight across the Grand Canal to the big island where we could wander the many alleyways. It was fabulous.
