Aquamare, boutique b&b Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to the third floor of a historic Venetian palazzo to reach Aquamare, boutique b&b feels like discovering a secret — and honestly, that’s exactly what this place is. This four-star gem sits right in the heart of Castello, which means you’re literally steps away from San Marco but tucked into one of those quieter corners that most tourists never find. The moment you step inside, you realize this isn’t your typical Venice accommodation — it’s got that intimate, personal touch that only a true boutique property can deliver.
Location Magic
You know what’s brilliant about staying in Castello? You get the best of both worlds. I mean, you can walk to St. Mark’s Square in about five minutes, but when you want to escape the crowds, you just duck into the residential streets around the property. The location score of 9.9 isn’t just numbers on a screen — couples genuinely love it here because Venice feels authentic from this spot. You’ll find yourself wandering past local bakeries and tiny campos that guidebooks don’t even mention, which is honestly the real Venice experience. The neighborhood truly captures the essence of authentic Venetian living.
The Room Experience
Here’s something that actually matters when you’re dealing with Venice’s notoriously thin walls and busy streets — the beds at Aquamare are genuinely comfortable. I’m talking about the kind of sleep quality that makes you forget you’re in a centuries-old building. Each room has been thoughtfully designed with that boutique attention to detail, and you can tell they’ve put real effort into soundproofing and comfort. The spaces feel intimate without being cramped, which is no small feat in a historic Venetian building.
Morning Fuel
The breakfast situation here is actually quite impressive for a smaller property. They do a proper continental spread with Italian touches, and — this is key if you’re traveling with dietary restrictions — they handle gluten-free options really well. It’s not just an afterthought like at some places. You’ll start your day with quality coffee (this is Italy, after all) and fresh pastries, which honestly sets the right tone for exploring the city. The breakfast area has this lovely intimate feel that makes you want to linger over your cappuccino and soak in the morning atmosphere.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets Aquamare apart is that perfect balance between location and tranquility. You’re not sacrificing peace for proximity here — you get both. The 9.6 rating reflects what you’ll experience: a property that feels personal and carefully managed, where the staff actually knows your name. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself planning your next Venice trip before you’ve even checked out, because you know you’ve found something special in a city that can sometimes feel overwhelming with choices. This boutique property delivers an unforgettable Venetian experience.

Fantastic location, very central to St Mark's Piazza, but tucked away in a quiet street, so very calm and peaceful. Wonderful, friendly hosts who recommended local sights and places to eat. Wonderful selection of breakfast foods, from eggs, to cereals and pastries. Beautiful roof terraces to enjoy a coffee or a spritz in the afternoon, and take in the magnificent views. Highly recommended, would love to visit again. Thank you for a wonderful stay 🙂

What a lovely little B&B, in a great location. The property was traditional, with lovely features with the beamed ceiling and wooden shutters. It was spotlessly clean and nothing was to much for the hosts. From sending photos of how to find the property (we arrived on a night flight) to advice on sightseeing. Breakfast was plentiful with always the offer of more.
We would definitely return.Αθανασιος from Greece – 10 December 2024 (10/10)
Perfect room, Spotlessly clean facilities, Freshly made, served breakfast (to your preferences).
Within 5-10 minutes on foot you can reach everything (most major landmarks, restaurants, bars, cicchetterias, shops)
Easy access (2 minutes on foot) from S.Zacharias Alilaguna Station (arriving from / departing to airport).
The description of the room and facilities was accurate in Booking, and we received clear instructions / guidance from Aquamare prior arrival.
Last but not least, Luana and Margherita are excellent hosts and made our stay easier and more enjoyable (by suggesting routes, shortcuts, city-spots and restaurants, so we did not waste our time and avoided tourist-traps!)

What could be improved: Everything was excellent.Aline from Brazil – 6 November 2024 (10/10)
This place is a jewel. Perfect location, room was very very comfortable. There are two lovely terraces to have breakfast or simply relax watching Venice and drinking coffee or wine. Would definitely recommend. Marguerita was always very helpful and, since it was our first time in Venice, her tips were precious.
Jussi from Finland – 29 October 2024 (10/10)
Excellent location and nice roof terrace.
Steven from United States – 27 October 2024 (10/10)
Aquamare is very close to the San Zaccaria water bus/taxi stop. It is beautifully decorated and very comfortable and quiet with friendly, thoughtful hosts. The balcony and mini bar are nice amenities. Due to our schedule, we were only able to enjoy breakfast once, but it was delicious, personalized and graciously served. They are very open about the many stairs, but take it seriously if you are older or have any impairments. We were on the third floor, so the second floor is a little better.
What could be improved: Just the stairs, especially with luggage, but it was totally expected.Clair from Belgium – 14 October 2024 (10/10)
The location was perfect, the room was spotlessly clean. The beds were SO comfy and breakfast was amazing. Luana and Margherita were perfect hosts, and nothing was too much trouble for them.
We will definitely return!
