I remember stumbling upon Art Dreams Apartment Dimora Casanova during one of those misty Venetian mornings last spring – you know, when the fog rolls off the lagoon and everything feels a bit dreamlike. I’d hopped off the vaporetto at Ca’ d’Oro, dodging the usual throng of day-trippers with their wheeled suitcases clattering over the bridges, and wandered down Rio Terà San Leonardo. It’s that lively little street in Cannaregio, not too far from the Jewish Ghetto where you can grab some of the best falafel in the city if you’re peckish after a long flight. Honestly, finding the place was a breeze; it’s tucked right there at number 1373, with a discreet entrance that doesn’t scream “tourist trap” like some spots near San Marco. I arrived a tad early for check-in – around noon, when the neighborhood bakeries are still pumping out that fresh bread smell – and the host was super chill about it, letting me drop my bags while I explored. No fuss, no rigid hotel lobby vibe; it felt more like crashing at a friend’s stylish pad. Oh, and parking? Forget it – this is Venice, so you’re walking or boating everywhere, but that’s part of the charm, right? Just be ready for those uneven cobblestones if you’ve got heavy luggage.

What really won me over was the apartment itself – it’s got this artsy, bohemian edge that lives up to the “Art Dreams” name, with exposed brick walls and quirky paintings scattered around like someone actually lives there and collects from local galleries. My room overlooked a quiet rio (that’s a small canal, for the uninitiated), and mornings started with the soft lap of water against the stones below, mixed with distant church bells from Santa Maria dei Miracoli nearby. It’s rated a solid 8.9 for a reason; the four-star setup includes a little kitchenette where I whipped up espresso from beans I picked up at the Rialto market – way better than overpriced café stuff. Beds are comfy, sort of plush without being too fancy, and the bathroom had those heated towel racks that are a godsend after a damp day wandering. Well, minor gripe: the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the evenings when everyone’s streaming, but hey, you’re in Venice – put the phone down and listen to the gondoliers singing outside. It’s not huge, so if you’re traveling with a big group, it might feel snug, but for a couple or solo trip, it’s perfect. I mean, I spent one rainy afternoon just lounging with a book, the wooden floors creaking underfoot, feeling like I’d time-traveled to some Renaissance artist’s hideaway.

All in all, if you’re after that authentic slice of Venetian life without the San Marco crowds – especially in shoulder season like April or October when Cannaregio stays relatively quiet – this place is a gem. You’re steps from spots like the Strada Nova for evening spritz at hidden bacari (those tiny wine bars locals love), or a quick stroll to the train station if you’re day-tripping to Padua. It’s not flawless – stairs can be a workout with no elevator, and summer humidity sneaks in – but that’s Venice for you. I’d go back in a heartbeat; it made me feel like I belonged, not just visited.

  the receptionist welcomed us upon arrival, gave us very useful advice on how to set up the place. She also gave us a map, which was really helpful. Room was clean, and big.Apartan have very good location, 15 min by walk from bus/ rail

  What could be improved: There’s only one air condition in the far end of the living room at the kitchen which required us to keep it on for a long time to have the entire place cold
  Breakfast needs more options and earlier than 8:15 am it should be at least 7:30 am
  We were asked to present our ids again at check in although we gave them online earlier to get the check in instructions
  Why would you ask us for ids twice?
  These are little things but for the price we paid we’d except them at least

  The location was fantastic. It was right on the main tourist thoroughfare, but the rooms are set back from the street, so you are not bothered by street noise.
  It's also close enough to a water bus stop that you don't have to drag your suitcase too far.
  The person who welcomed us at the front desk was lovely. She was friendly and welcoming. She allowed us to check in early since it was the low season and available.

  Lovely warm welcome from Viola . Apartment was exactly as in the pictures and was spotlessly clean especially the bedding and towels . Great location , just a 10 – 15 minute walk from the station and the airport bus stop. Despite the fact it's in the middle of such a busy city it was very quiet at night and we slept well . We had everything we needed at breakfast . This was a great find for our stay in Venice and I am more than happy to recommend it to anyone planning a visit to Venice .
