Hotel Description

I remember stumbling upon B&B Casin dei Nobili almost by accident last spring, when I was dodging the usual Venice crowds around San Marco. It’s tucked away in Dorsoduro, right off Calle Larga Nani – you know, that quiet little street that leads you straight from the Accademia vaporetto stop without all the tourist hustle. Honestly, arriving by water taxi felt like a splurge, but it dropped me practically at the doorstep, and let’s face it, lugging bags over bridges in Venice is no joke. The building itself is this charming 18th-century palazzo – well, sort of a mini one, with those faded frescoes on the walls that whisper old Venetian secrets. Check-in was a breeze; the owner, this warm Italian guy named Marco (I think?), greeted me with a espresso and a quick chat about the neighborhood’s hidden gems, like the squero (that’s a gondola workshop) just a stone’s throw away. No elevators, mind you – it’s an old place, so expect a flight or two of creaky wooden stairs, but hey, that’s part of the authentic vibe, right?

What really won me over was the room – mine overlooked a tiny canal, and mornings started with the soft lap of water against stone and the distant chime of church bells from Santa Maria della Salute. The decor’s all elegant without trying too hard: think velvet headboards, antique mirrors that actually reflect properly (unlike some spots I’ve stayed), and these plush linens that smell faintly of lavender from the laundry service. Breakfast is served in a cozy salon downstairs – fresh cornetti, prosciutto, and yogurt with local honey – nothing over-the-top, but it sets you up nicely for a day wandering. I mean, it’s not a full hotel with a gym or spa, but who needs that in Venice? The Wi-Fi’s solid, which was a lifesaver for mapping out routes to avoid the midday throngs. Oh, and noise-wise, Dorsoduro’s blissfully quieter than the Rialto side, especially in the evenings when you can hear locals chatting in the campo nearby – though if you’re a light sleeper, pack earplugs for the occasional late-night revelers from Campo Santa Margherita, just a five-minute stroll away. It’s got that intimate B&B feel, with only a handful of rooms, so it never feels crowded, even in peak season like May when the city’s buzzing with Biennale visitors.

Look, if you’re after a spot that feels like a real Venetian escape rather than a generic tourist trap, this is it. You’re steps from the Peggy Guggenheim Collection – I popped in for an afternoon and it was magical – and easy walks to tucked-away osterias like La Bitta for some killer cicchetti without the inflated prices. Sure, it’s not the cheapest at around 200 euros a night, but with that 9.8 rating, it’s worth every penny for the personal touches and that sense of stepping back in time. I’ve stayed in fancier places, but this one lingers – you know what, book it for a romantic getaway or even solo, and thank me later. Just remember to wander the back canals at dusk; the light on the water is something else.

Staying here is exactly how you want your holiday in Venice to be. If you're looking at this review, look no further and book this property ASAP as it only has limited rooms and you don't want to miss out and end up in something just not quite as good, you'll kick yourself. Just fantastic from check in to check out.

Everything was exceptional—truly above and beyond! Lara and the entire staff made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The check-in process was warm and welcoming, and the breakfast offered a delightful variety that gave us the perfect start to our day, leaving us energized and ready to explore. The place is modern, stylish, and impeccably clean. If you have the chance to book, don't hesitate for a second—this is the best place to stay in Venice. Even my partner, who is usually a 5-star hotel kind of person, admitted that this B&B exceeded his expectations! It's a must-visit!

Comfortable cosy home from home in a very central but quiet location. Lovely caring staff who really look after you. Great and swift communication. Real attention to detail. We really appreciated small touches like toothbrush kits, tissues and cotton wool pads. Lara and her team had thought of everything. Great breakfast. We would return again in a flash. Thank you so much for a lovely stay.

The breakfast was amazing as everything tasted very fresh and it came with free hot drinks made to order. I visited Venice to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday and the staff went above and beyond in helping me celebrate her birthday by giving her a birthday themed breakfast and adding some birthday themed decorations to our room while we ate breakfast. They really helped make her day special and is just one example of their excellent service. The room itself was also very clean and filled with nice amenities for our use. I would really recommend staying here to anyone that plans on visiting Venice.

  • Stephanie from United Kingdom – 26 September 2024 (10/10)

The property has been restored to a very high standard with everything you could hope for to make your stay comfortable. It is set a short walk away from the tourist areas and is all the better for that with many art galleries and restaurants . The hot tubs in the bedrooms are perfect to relax in after exploring and the breakfasts are wonderful
