Bellissimo appartamento in Palazzo Storico Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Bellissimo appartamento in Palazzo Storico honestly feels like you’re about to enter someone’s private Venetian palace — which, well, you sort of are. This four-star gem sits right on Fondamenta Zen in Cannaregio, and I mean, the building itself tells stories that go back centuries. You know what strikes you first? It’s not trying to be a flashy hotel at all. Instead, you’re stepping into an authentic piece of Venice that happens to welcome guests.

The Neighborhood Feel

Cannaregio is honestly one of my favorite areas in Venice — it’s where you actually feel like you’re living alongside Venetians rather than just visiting them. The Fondamenta Zen location puts you right on a quiet canal, and I love how you can watch the morning light hit the water from the building. You’re close enough to all the major sights (San Marco is totally walkable), but far enough away that you escape those crushing tourist crowds. There’s this little bacaro around the corner that locals frequent, and honestly, that’s worth the stay alone.

The Apartment Experience

The apartment itself — and it really does feel like an apartment rather than a hotel room — maintains all that historic palazzo character while giving you modern comfort. The ceilings are high, the windows are generous, and you get these glimpses of authentic Venetian architecture that you just can’t fake. I particularly appreciated having a proper kitchen space, which means you can grab fresh ingredients from the Rialto market and actually cook something. The furnishings strike that perfect balance between respecting the building’s history and making sure you’re comfortable for more than just a night or two.

What Makes It Special

Here’s the thing about staying in a historic palazzo — you’re not just booking accommodation, you’re temporarily becoming part of Venice’s living history. The building has this authentic weight to it, you know? Thick walls, original details, the kind of character that modern hotels spend fortunes trying to recreate. But what really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both grand and intimate. You get the palazzo experience without feeling like you’re in a museum. Plus, the location feedback consistently mentions how perfect it is for couples, and I can see why — there’s something undeniably romantic about having your own Venetian hideaway.

Why Guests Love It

Recent guests keep highlighting the location, and they’re absolutely right — this spot gives you the best of both worlds. You’re in authentic Venice, not tourist Venice, but everything you want to see is still within easy reach. The 8.9 rating speaks to how well this place delivers on its promise of being a genuine Venetian experience. Honestly, after staying here, regular hotels start feeling a bit soulless. There’s something about waking up in a centuries-old palazzo, making coffee in your own kitchen, and stepping out onto a quiet fondamenta that just makes Venice feel like home rather than a destination you’re checking off a list.

Reviews of Bellissimo appartamento in Palazzo Storico

  • Dale from United States – 26 October 2024 (9/10)

The location was fabulous, it was was a large apt. , it had a washer and a nice bathroom.

What could be improved: The bed was canoe-like and hard to get in and out of because it’s on a platform.

  • Els from Netherlands – 23 October 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: The floor is very smooth. That's why I am fallen.

  • Jean from United States – 19 October 2024 (8/10)

Quiet neighborhood. Good access to airport.

What could be improved: Kitchen was tricky.bed platform was inconvenient.

  • Josef from New Zealand – 25 September 2024 (9/10)

Quite a nice apartment and located in an excellent spot for exploring Venezia. It's well equipped. It was away from busy areas so it was nice to sleep without any noise from the street at night. Alice who met me for check in was very kind and got me sorted with everything at the apartment.

What could be improved: The door locks are a bit fiddly and take some getting used to. The bed had two thin, firm pillows and I had to use both to sleep properly. As a solo traveller this isn't ideal but do-able. It would be great to have thicker or more pillows on the bed, especially if a couple were to stay here.

  • Constance from Australia – 3 July 2024 (9/10)

The apartment was a great space for two people and a had all the amenities needed. We ate out so other than the use of the kettle not much else was used however having said that the kitchen was fully stocked with pots, utensils and cutlery. It was close to the water taxis and Marcella gave us plenty of information about getting around and tips on tickets.

    What could be improved: Nil

  • Cleo from United Kingdom – 28 April 2024 (9/10)

Great location . Very clean and warm

What could be improved: Could have done with a couple more things in the kitchen – bread knife, grater and a small pan. But all in all very well equipped.

  • Sylvia from Australia – 16 July 2023 (9/10)

The property had everything we needed to enjoy our stay.

What could be improved: The bed was a little uncomfortable. More pillows may have helped

    Well equipped, clean, modern apartment
Lovely, quiet location close to nearest vaporetto stop and around 15 minutes walk to Rialto and St Marks.
