Ca’ al Giglio – Appartamento Vista Canale Overview
First Impressions
Walking down Calle delle Ostreghe in San Marco, you’ll stumble upon Ca’ al Giglio – Appartamento Vista Canale tucked away in what honestly feels like the most perfect corner of Venice. I mean, when a place scores 9.9 for location, you know you’re onto something special. This four-star apartment sits right in the heart of everything — and I’m talking about the real Venice here, not some touristy outskirt where you’re stuck taking water buses everywhere.
The Location Magic
You know what struck me most about staying here? You’re literally steps away from St. Mark’s Square, but somehow you escape that overwhelming crush of tourists the moment you turn onto this quiet calle. Couples absolutely love this spot — they’ve rated it 9.8, and honestly, I get it. There’s something incredibly romantic about having your own little Venetian hideaway while still being able to pop out for a quick espresso or evening aperitivo without any planning. The canal views from the apartment are exactly what you picture when you dream about Venice, but better because you’re actually living in it, not just visiting.
Living Like a Local
The apartment setup is what really sets this place apart from your typical hotel experience. You’ve got your own space with a proper kitchen, which — let me tell you — is a game changer when you want to grab fresh ingredients from the Rialto Market and actually cook something. The room feels authentically Venetian without being stuffy or museum-like. I actually found myself spending way more time here than I expected, just because it felt like having a real Venetian home rather than a place to crash between sightseeing.
The Neighborhood Experience
San Marco gets a bad rap for being too touristy, but staying right here showed me a different side of it. Early mornings, you’ll have the narrow streets mostly to yourself — perfect for those Instagram shots without crowds, if that’s your thing. The local osteria around the corner serves the kind of cicchetti that locals actually eat, and the shopkeepers start recognizing you after a day or two. There’s a small campo nearby where you can sit with a book and watch daily Venetian life unfold, which honestly became my favorite part of each day.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.7 rating isn’t just about the location, though that’s certainly a huge part of it. It’s about having your own little slice of Venice where you can spread out, cook breakfast while looking out at the canal, and feel like you actually live here for a few days. The space gives you independence — no rushing down for hotel breakfast or dealing with crowded lobbies. You’re in the absolute center of everything Venice has to offer, but you’ve got your own peaceful retreat to come back to. For couples especially, there’s something magical about having your own Venetian apartment, even if it’s just for a long weekend.
Hotel in Venice reservations spike before Redentore fireworks when the lagoon fills with floating dinners.

Feel like a Venetian and stay here. Fantastic location. Very comfortable and well equipped. Morning coffee overlooking gondoliers going up a side canal. We highly recommend.
What could be improved: Nothing. It was great.Vasileios from Greece – 15 April 2024 (10/10)
As always when you find an advertised high rated gem to stay you have second thoughts. Well this was a surprise. A nice one. The location couldn’t be better, on the main street where you wished you d stay if you didn’t. Only a few minutes from St Marks square, between 2 public transport stops and in one of the most charming neighborhoods. A fabulous view of the canal every visitor wishes to find from all three rooms ( living/ kitchen/ bedroom).
The area is super safe ( actually the whole city!) with a nice cafe-snack bar right next to the building door and a gondola station right next to it.
I could write more about the apartment itself but pics speak for themselves.
Lovely antique furnishing ( you can tell it’s not a rental but a person with great taste lives there) amazing artwork on the walls, super clean and comfortable with lots of sunlight and charming view of canal and rooftops.
Kitchen more than big, bed was fab but best part is 1) there is an elevator to the third floor ( rare in old buildings) and 2) bathroom size could be a reason itself to book this place.
What could be improved: Everything was more than perfect. I know it sounds like a paid review but honestly I have no words to describe how happy we were. It made all the difference in our Venice trip.Rebekah from United States – 26 March 2024 (9/10)
Gorgeous views from the windows. We loved the decor and feel of the apartment. Great location. It has a small elevator which was handy for the luggage, but otherwise we just used the stairs. One of my favorite things was watching the gondoliers go by – sometimes they would sing or play music which was lovely.
What could be improved: The only complaint is there was no tea kettle and the stovetop Moka espresso maker was very dirty so we had to scrub it out a few times before using it. Otherwise, the apartment was very clean and comfortable.David from United Kingdom – 25 October 2023 (10/10)
Excellent location. Clean. Lots of facilities. Charming with modern features

What could be improved: Nothing.Lynn from New Zealand – 10 July 2023 (10/10)
Beautiful apartment and furnishings with stunning views of the canal used by gondoliers. .Handy location to vaporetto and San Marco, huge comfortable bed and comfortable pillows, well kitted out kitchen, huge bathroom. Excellent communication with owners who allowed us to leave our bags in the apartment for a few hours after check out (for which we are truly grateful).

If you are looking for an apartment in Venice, look no farther. We could not imagine a more perfect place to stay in Venice then Cal' al Giglio! This is a beautiful and well appointed apartment with a view of the canal from every room! You feel as if you are staying in a friend's apartment rather than a rental. We chose to ride the vaporetto to our stop which requires carrying suitcases over one walking bridge. If this would be a problem, there is a water taxi stop at the foot of the apartment. We were met at the dock and walked to the apartment where we were shown how to use the air conditioning, heating, etc. The apartment has a well appointed kitchen, lovely sitting and eating area, comfortable bedroom, and even the bathroom is large by European standards. It is in easy walking distance to all the sights in Venice. Watching the activity on the canal was exactly why one wants to stay in Venice…gondolas with singing gondoliers and people lunching at the cafe, yet because this apartment is up several floors (there is a lift to the apartment), it was never loud. It was exactly the experience we hoped to have in Venice!

Hard to say the best part about this apartment, as it was excellent in every way. Our friendly host greeted us with keys, gave us a tour of the apartment, and left us with many restaurant recommendations. The spacious rooms are stunning—beautiful furnishings and art-lined walls. Windows in every room look down upon a canal bustling with interesting activity, from morning work boats to tourist-filled gondolas the rest of the day. The location is also superb, just a few minutes from St. Mark’s Square and around the corner from many restaurants and high-end boutiques. I really can’t say enough about this apartment—loved it!
What could be improved: NothingFederico from Poland – 23 January 2023 (9/10)
Place was as advertised: Great location, nicely furnished, atmospheric
What could be improved: The constant reminder that there was a fee of increasing size for late check-ins. This cannot be helped: Flights arrive when they arrive and one is reliant on public transport. The warnings are going to make any difference as this does not depend on the traveler.
