Hotel Description

You know, I stumbled upon Ca’ Amadi almost by accident last spring, right after hopping off the vaporetto at Ca’ d’Oro – it’s tucked away in that quieter stretch of Cannaregio, just a stone’s throw from the bustling Strada Nova but far enough that you escape the worst of the tourist throngs. Honestly, arriving felt like stepping back in time; the building’s this old 13th-century palazzo with these creaky wooden beams and faded frescoes on the walls that sort of whisper stories from Venice’s heyday. I mean, check-in was a breeze – the staff, these warm locals who actually live in the sestiere, chatted with me about the best hidden osterias nearby, like that little spot on Rio Terà San Leonardo where you can grab cicchetti without the crowds. My room overlooked a narrow canal, and waking up to the soft lapping of water against the stones, mixed with the distant hum of market vendors setting up at Rialto – well, it was pure magic. Oh, and the bed? Plush but not over-the-top, with those heavy brocade curtains that block out the early morning light if you’re nursing a spritz hangover from the night before.

What really sets this place apart, though, is how it blends that authentic Venetian charm with just enough modern perks to keep things comfortable – no flashy spa or anything, but they’ve got solid Wi-Fi (a lifesaver for mapping out those twisting alleys) and air conditioning that actually works during those sticky July humid spells. I wandered out one evening and was at the Rialto Bridge in under five minutes, dodging the occasional pigeon and inhaling the salty tang of the lagoon mixed with fresh bread from the panificio around the corner. It’s in Cannaregio, you see, which feels more lived-in than San Marco – think Jewish Ghetto with its synagogues and kosher spots just a short stroll away, or the Madonna dell’Orto church with Tintoretto’s paintings if you’re into that. Parking? Forget it, this is Venice – but they pointed me to the Piazzale Roma garage and sorted a water taxi discount. One minor gripe: the breakfast spread is decent (croissants, cappuccino, some fruit), but it’s nothing groundbreaking – I ended up grabbing espresso at a nearby bar most mornings for that real local buzz. Still, the place has this cozy intimacy; evenings were quiet, save for the occasional gondola serenade echoing up from the water.

All in all, if you’re after a spot that feels like a genuine slice of Venice without the San Marco price tag or chaos, Ca’ Amadi’s a gem – rated an 8.7 for good reason, I’d say. It’s perfect for couples or solo travelers who want to explore on foot, maybe hit the Biennale in odd years when the area’s alive with art crowds. Just book ahead in high season; it fills up fast. I left feeling like I’d uncovered a secret – you know, the kind that makes you want to return and pretend you’re a local all over again.

  • Zaruhi from Armenia – 31 January 2024 (9/10)

The staff was very supportive and amazing!!

  • Glen from Australia – 17 March 2025 (9/10)

Great little hotel, loved the openable window by the canal, perfect location for exploring the city and so close to Rialto Bridge and ferry wharf. Reception staff had great restaurant suggestions too.

What could be improved: Nothing. Liked it all.

  • Alexis from United States – 18 February 2025 (9/10)

This apartment is in a very central location in Venice with plenty to do right near by, but the little courtyard makes it quiet and calm – a real getaway from a city that can be very crowded. The beds were very comfortable. I loved that there was a mini bedroom for my daughter. Quiet, peaceful, comfortable. We loved staying at Ca Amadi.

What could be improved: Just little things – like it would be nice to have a real chef's knife and a bread knife. Pretty well-equipped,otherwise.

  • Aleksandr from Russia – 16 February 2025 (8/10)

The location is very convenient, in the center yet quiet. Great for its price. The room is nice and clean.

What could be improved: The floor in the room was quite cold, it would be better with some carpets.

  • Justina from Lithuania – 6 February 2025 (9/10)

Great location, cozy and convenient apartment and very friendly and helpful staff.

  • Jenny from Australia – 22 January 2025 (9/10)

The apartment was beautiful, it was furnished in Venetian style, was comfortable and had everything we needed. We ate out so didn’t really use the cooking facilities except for breakfast. The apartment was conveniently located, very quiet and staff were super helpful and friendly. The single bed was in its own little room which our so. appreciated.

  • Siobhan from United Kingdom – 14 January 2025 (9/10)

The hotel is in a fantastic location, 5 mins from Rialto Bridge but tucked away down a side street so very quiet. The foyer is gorgeous and welcoming, the rooms are beautifully appointed, the bed was very comfortable, and the receptionist was very helpful and friendly. We would absolutely stay again and are looking forward to returning already!

  • Daria from Thailand – 27 December 2024 (9/10)

    Location, design, gondolas

  • Miray from Turkey – 14 November 2024 (8/10)

The room was spacious and the design was very good, the bathrooms renewed and were clean. The room facing the canal is a good memory for our children.

What could be improved: The bed was not comfortable, and a little bit noisy because of the location.

  • Austin from Australia – 13 November 2024 (9/10)

stayed for 3 nights quiet rooms, very clean, close to everything. will book again
