Ca’ degli Oresi Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the narrow calle dei Orbi to reach Ca’ degli Oresi, you’ll honestly wonder if you’ve taken a wrong turn — until you spot the discreet entrance tucked between centuries-old Venetian buildings. This four-star boutique hotel doesn’t announce itself with flashy signage, which is actually part of its charm. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of stepping into someone’s elegant Venetian home rather than a typical tourist hotel.
Location & Neighborhood
I mean, you really can’t get more central than this in Venice. The San Marco location puts you literally minutes from St. Mark’s Square, but here’s what the guidebooks don’t tell you — you’re also perfectly positioned to duck into those hidden bacari (wine bars) that locals actually frequent. The Rialto Bridge is a pleasant five-minute stroll, and honestly, I’ve found some of the city’s best cicchetti spots just wandering the maze of streets around the hotel. Couples seem to particularly love this area (they rate it 9.7, which makes total sense), probably because getting lost together in these romantic alleyways is half the Venice experience.
The Room Experience
The rooms here strike that perfect balance between Venetian character and modern comfort — you know what I mean? Original exposed beams and period details, but thankfully with reliable Wi-Fi and proper air conditioning. My room had this gorgeous view over a quiet canal, and there’s something magical about waking up to the sound of water lapping against ancient stone rather than traffic noise. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed (this is Venice, after all — space is precious), and the beds are genuinely comfortable, which isn’t always a given in historic properties.
Daily Rhythms
Breakfast happens in this intimate space that feels more like a Venetian salon than a hotel dining area. It’s not a massive buffet spread, but everything they do serve is quality — proper Italian coffee, fresh pastries, and local specialties that change with the seasons. The staff here actually knows the neighborhood inside and out, which is incredibly helpful when you’re trying to navigate Venice’s labyrinthine streets. They’ll point you toward the less touristy churches, recommend which vaporetto stops to avoid during rush hour, and suggest dinner spots that won’t break the bank.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets Ca’ degli Oresi apart is how it manages to feel authentically Venetian without sacrificing comfort. You’re staying in a real palazzo with genuine history, but you’re not roughing it with creaky floors and temperamental plumbing. The location score of 9.8 isn’t just about proximity to major sights — it’s about being embedded in the actual fabric of the city. When you step out the door, you’re immediately part of Venice’s daily rhythm rather than observing it from the outside. For travelers who want to experience Venice like a temporary resident rather than a tourist passing through, this place honestly delivers.

Great location, close proximity to all nice places and restaurants
What could be improved: Many flights of stairs to get to the appartmentHuw from United Kingdom – 12 January 2025 (9/10)
Really well situated and comfortable apartment in a quiet area within easy walking distance of the Academia, Rialto and St Marks, but glad we were met and shown the route from the Vaparetto. The penthouse sitting out area had views over the rooftops of Venice, and there were nearby shops for basic food items.
What could be improved: Nothing though you do need to be fit to climb so many flights of stairs!Alan from United Kingdom – 9 December 2024 (10/10)
Very warm and comfortable for a winter visit. Perfect location for walking and vaporettos to main attractions. Very quiet. Full facilities. Exactly as described.

Overall satisfaction!
Good location, nice and clean room, excellent communication.
What could be improved: After the whole day on our feet, the stairs to the 4th floor awaited us. 🙂
However, we were warned in advance about the absence of an elevator.Carole from United States – 25 October 2024 (10/10)
We LOVED this apartment for so many reasons! The apartment itself was outstanding in every way. It was comfortable, spacious and spotless. It was modern in terms of appliances, bathroom renovations and heating/ air conditioning but maintained a very warm, Italian grandmother kind of ambience that was so special. There are stairs to climb but they are not steep and even as "seniors" we did not find them to be too challenging. We were glad to be able to sit on the patio overlooking the square- well worth the climb to have this special perspective.
Most of all the family that hosted us was extremely kind and helpful. Andrea met us to help us with our bags and making sure we could find our way to the apartment. His brother did the same for our return. When we were faced with a particularly challenging and stressful situation after having experienced some theft in the metro in Rome just before getting to Venice Andrea pretty much saved us from having to swim to the airport! We cannot thank this family enough for all they did.
We highly recommend staying at this property when in Venice. The apartment, location, host, EVERYTHING deserves the highest possible rating. THANK YOUYang from Australia – 14 October 2024 (10/10)
The hosts were absolutely phenomenal – warm, responsive and kind. Andrea helped us with our luggage, and his brother Frederico walked us to the ferry terminal as our luggage was very heavy when we checked out!

Location is perfect and the roof top terrace
Jackie from United States – 19 September 2024 (10/10)
The apartment was close to everything we wanted to see and experience. Only a 10 minute walk to anything we wanted to see
What could be improved: My only suggestion, because I am a coffee drinker, is a bigger pot to make coffee.Donna from Australia – 8 September 2024 (9/10)
Communication was fantastic with the owners and we were met at the dock and walked around the corner to the apartment. Our host helped carry our luggage up the 3 flights of stairs (the stairs being the only negative).
Clean, airy, modern, spacious and comfortable inside. We would book here again:-)
What could be improved: 3 flights of stairs, but not unexpected.John from Australia – 28 November 2022 (10/10)
Andrea and Emanuela were very helpful.
The room is very nice and clean and updated. Very well located a short walk from the Basilica di San Marco and the Doge's palace and other attractions.
The are lots of good places to eat nearby as well as groceries (alimentari) to stock the kitchen.
