When I first stepped into Ca’ del Molino, your apartment in Venice, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from a four-star apartment rental on Giudecca island. But you know what? This place completely changed my perspective on staying outside the main tourist chaos of Venice. The vaporetto runs regularly — I think it’s about every 10-15 minutes during the day — and you’re literally a five-minute boat ride from San Marco. What I loved most was coming back in the evenings when the day-trippers had left, and suddenly you have this incredibly authentic Venetian neighborhood almost to yourself. The locals here still hang their laundry between buildings and chat with neighbors from their windows.

The Space Itself

The room setup works really well for couples (which explains why it gets such high marks from pairs). There’s a proper kitchen that’s actually functional — not one of those tiny hotel kitchenettes that can barely handle making coffee. I ended up cooking a simple pasta dinner one night using ingredients from the local market, and it felt wonderfully normal. The windows face the canal, so you get that quintessential Venice view without paying San Marco prices for it.

Getting Around and Daily Life

Here’s what nobody tells you about Giudecca — it’s where you go to experience Venice like a resident rather than a tourist. There’s a small grocery store about a three-minute walk away, and the morning routine of grabbing fresh bread and coffee feels surprisingly natural. The location score of 8.8 makes total sense once you realize that “excellent location” doesn’t always mean being in the thick of everything. Sometimes it means being perfectly positioned to enjoy the best parts while escaping the overwhelming crowds.

What really struck me was how this place manages to feel both distinctly Venetian and genuinely livable. You’re not just staying in Venice — you’re actually living there for a few days. The apartment gives you space to breathe and plan your days without feeling rushed, and when you do venture into the main city, you appreciate it more because you have a peaceful retreat to return to. Plus, watching the sunset from this side of the canal, with all of Venice spread out across the water, is honestly one of those moments that makes you understand why people fall in love with this city in the first place.

  Heel mooi uitzicht (en vergezicht) vanuit het appartement op de omliggende kanalen. Lichtrijk en mooi gedecoreerd apparement op 550m van de vaporetto. Het appartement is rustig gelegen in een groot en mooi gerestaureerd fabrieksgebouw. Vriendelijke en vlotte communicatie met Paolo.
  
  What could be improved: De bedden hebben matrassen die aan vervanging toe zijn. De wasmachine hebben we gelukkig niet nodig gehad maar deze was stuk. De keuken was een beetje onpraktisch om zelf te koken. De gootsteen had geen stop waardoor het lastig was om de bak te vullen om de vaat te kunnen wassen. Wij misten een vaatwasser.
  De bovenburen waren goed verstaandbaar (tot 3u 's nachts), maar deze waren gelukkig maar 1 avond/nacht aanwezig.
