Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon Ca’ Del Monastero 3 while hunting for a spot in Venice that didn’t feel like just another tourist trap – and honestly, it was a gem. Tucked away in the Santa Croce neighborhood at Santa Croce 1711, it’s this charming apartment in an old building that used to be part of a monastery, or so the story goes from the check-in guy who handed over the keys with a wink and a quick rundown in broken English. I arrived via the vaporetto from Piazzale Roma – super easy, since it’s just a short walk from there, dodging the occasional delivery cart on those narrow calles. Santa Croce isn’t as crammed with crowds as San Marco, which is a relief; it’s more like the real Venice where locals grab their morning espresso at that little bar on Campo San Giacomo dell’Orio, just a five-minute stroll away. The building’s got this weathered stone facade that smells faintly of salt from the nearby canals – you can hear the gentle lap of water against the walls at night, especially if you crack a window. And thank goodness for the lift; lugging suitcases up those steep stairs in older Venetian spots can be a nightmare, but here it’s smooth sailing, even for a group of four like us.
Inside, it’s set up like a proper home – not some sterile hotel room – with space for four guests, including a cozy living area that opens onto a tiny balcony overlooking a quiet courtyard. We cooked up simple pasta dinners in the kitchenette (stocked with basics, though you’ll want to hit the market on Rio Terà San Leonardo for fresh veggies – it’s right around the corner and buzzing in the mornings). The beds are comfy, with those crisp linens that actually feel lived-in, and the bathroom’s got a decent shower that doesn’t flood the floor like some places I’ve stayed. I mean, it’s not perfect – the Wi-Fi can be spotty during peak tourist season in summer, when everyone’s streaming from their rooms, and there’s a bit of street noise from early-morning boats if you’re a light sleeper – but nothing that earplugs or closing the shutters couldn’t fix. We loved wandering out to the Grand Canal bridge nearby for sunset views, or popping into that hidden osteria on Fondamenta dei Tolentini for cicchetti and spritz – locals swear by it, and it’s way cheaper than the tourist joints.
All in all, if you’re traveling with friends or family and want to feel like you’re actually living in Venice rather than just passing through, this place nails it. The 9.2 rating isn’t hype; it’s earned from those thoughtful touches, like the welcome basket with biscotti and a map marked with off-the-beaten-path spots. Sure, parking’s a non-issue since you’re in car-free Venice (leave the wheels at Piazzale Roma), but during quieter winter months, it’s even more magical – fewer people, that misty fog rolling in, making the whole area feel like your private slice of history. I’d go back in a heartbeat, well, as long as I pack lighter next time.

We've been here before, in 2019, rented the other apartment on the second floor. So we kind of knew what to expect, and the property met our expectations.
Excellent location, close to main touristic attractions. Grocery store nearby where one can replenish food and drinks supplies.
The hosts were available and helpful anytime we've contacted them.
What could be improved: No #1: Weather! We had two days with downpouring rain that limited our strolling capacity.
No #2: A sharp increase in the price of Parking (from 25 euro/day to 35. There was also an increase on the rental price of our unit, comparing to 2019. But then, there's inflation all over the world.Dana from Czech Republic – 1 April 2024 (9/10)
Apartement is spacious. It is located close to vaporetto station in quiet place. Supermarket is nearby.

Great Accomodation in Venice. Convinient location to restaurant, supermarket and transportaion (water bus).
Staff are friendly and helpful. Great thanks to Annalisa and Michael's help during our stay in Venice.
What could be improved: It's all good!Christine from United States – 10 July 2022 (9/10)
The location is fantastic, with a short walk to Rialto. There are wonderful restaurants nearby. The apartment was very comfortable and well appointed.
What could be improved: The only thing that could have been better was instructions on how to use the dryer. There is water that accumulates in a container that has to be dumped out or it does not work. It might have to be dumped out more than once.Alexandra from United States – 22 June 2022 (9/10)
What could be improved: Beware the washing machine was in high demand and cycles took forever; the drier did not work when we first arrived and when it started working it did not fully dry clothes.

Die Lage des Appartments. Sehr ruhig.
What could be improved: Wenn man selber kochen möchte, ist die Küche dafür sehr sparsam ausgestattet.Pamela from Chile – 27 February 2024 (9/10)
