Hotel Description
You know, stumbling upon Ca’ Della Carita’ in the heart of Cannaregio felt like one of those serendipitous Venice moments – the kind where you duck into a quiet corte off the bustling Strada Nova and suddenly everything slows down. I mean, Venice can be a whirlwind, especially if you’re coming from the train station at Santa Lucia, hauling your luggage over those endless bridges. But this place? It’s tucked away on Corte della Carità, right at number 5178 on the second piano – yeah, that’s “second floor” in Italian terms, no elevator, so pack light if stairs aren’t your thing. I remember arriving in the late afternoon during shoulder season (think early October, when the crowds thin out but the light’s still golden), and the check-in was refreshingly low-key – just a friendly host handing over an old-fashioned key, no fuss with apps or whatever. The building itself has that classic Venetian vibe, with worn marble steps that echo a bit when you climb them, and honestly, the faint salty scent from the nearby canals seeps in, reminding you you’re not in some sterile chain hotel. It’s in a spot that’s authentically local – you’re steps from the Jewish Ghetto, where you can grab a kosher pastry at Gam Gam or wander the campo without dodging selfie sticks like in San Marco.
What really won me over, though, was how the place balances old-world charm with those little comforts that make a stay feel effortless. The rooms – well, mine was a cozy double with exposed beams and these heavy velvet curtains that block out the early morning boat traffic on the Rio di San Felice (it’s close enough to hear the vaporetti chugging by at dawn, but not so loud it wakes you unless you’re a light sleeper). Four stars and a 9.2 rating? It earns it, no doubt, with spotless bathrooms that have those rain showers you actually want to linger in, and breakfast served in a sunny saletta overlooking the corte – think fresh cornetti, strong espresso, and maybe some prosciutto if you’re lucky. I appreciated the practical touches, like the free Wi-Fi that didn’t glitch out (a rarity in these historic buildings), and the fact that there’s no parking to worry about – Venice is car-free anyway, so just hop on the vaporetto from Fondamente Nove, which is a quick 10-minute stroll away. Oh, and a minor gripe: the air conditioning can be a tad noisy in summer, but hey, open the windows at night and let the canal breezes do their thing – it’s part of the magic. During quieter hours, like after 10 PM, the neighborhood hushes up, save for the occasional gondolier humming in the distance, which sort of lulls you to sleep.
All in all, if you’re after a slice of real Venice without the overtouristed chaos, Ca’ Della Carita’ is where it’s at – it’s got that intimate, lived-in feel that makes you want to extend your trip. You could easily spend a morning exploring the nearby Ca’ d’Oro gallery, then loop back for a siesta before hitting Rialto for sunset. Honestly, in a city where hotels can feel like overpriced traps, this one’s a gem – authentic, welcoming, and positioned perfectly for those off-the-beaten-path discoveries that stick with you long after you’ve left. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially in the off-season when Venice feels like yours alone.

The Best Accommodation in Venice – Jae from South Korea – 3 June 2025 (10/10)
The accommodation was even better than the photos! It had a fantastic interior design and was spotlessly clean, including the bedding which was also exceptionally fresh and tidy. The location was perfect everything was within easy walking distance. The water bus stop was less than a 5minute walk away, making it incredibly convenient to get to the airport directly.
She was a wonderful host who truly tried her best to meet every guest’s needs. I highly recommend this place as one of the best accommodations in Venice!

Great place to stay, very comfortable, spacious and well equipped. Area is quiet and we felt safe even in the late hours. Gloria allowed us to store our luggage even we arrived some hours before check-in and so we could go and explore Venice without wasting time. Fondamente nove waterbus stop is just 3 min away.

There was nothing more I would have wanted – indeed the photos do not do this place justice! Spacious, clean, comfortable… with everything you need in the kitchen plus the basic food stuffs to help with cooking. Great communication too and a place to leave our bags. Travelled as family of 4. Missing it already. Highly recommended – we will be back!
