No cars in Venice, obviously, so I hoofed it over the bridge with my suitcase clattering on the stone steps, but the hotel’s right there in a narrow alley off the main drag, away from the worst of the tourist foot traffic. The name means “House of the Monkey,” which cracked me up – apparently it’s from some old family crest or story, and it gives the place this quirky, lived-in charm that you don’t get in those sterile chain hotels. Walking in, the lobby hit me with that classic Venetian vibe: polished marble floors cool underfoot, a faint salty tang from the nearby canal mixing with the aroma of fresh espresso from their little breakfast setup. It’s a 4-star spot with a stellar 9.7 rating, and yeah, it earns it – but don’t expect ultra-modern; it’s more like stepping into a restored palazzo, with exposed wooden beams and those heavy velvet curtains that muffle the outside world.

My room overlooked a quiet side canal – not the Grand Canal glamour, but peaceful enough that I could hear the gentle lap of water against the walls at night, interrupted only by the occasional gondolier’s call echoing from afar. The beds are comfy, with those crisp linens that make you sink right in after a day of dodging pigeons in Piazza San Marco, and the bathroom had one of those rain showers that feels like a luxury after Venice’s humid air. Check-in was a cinch; the staff – mostly locals who know the ins and outs of San Polo – chatted with me about dodging the high water during acqua alta season (pro tip: pack rubber boots if you’re here in November). It’s not perfect, mind you – the stairs can be a haul if you’ve got heavy luggage, and there’s no elevator, which is par for the course in these historic buildings. But they helped with my bags, and honestly, it adds to the authenticity. You’re steps from the Rialto Market, where I grabbed fresh figs and cicchetti for a picnic – way better than overpriced spots on the bridge. It’s not the cheapest, but for the location and that genuine warmth, it’s worth every euro. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially in the off-season when the fog rolls in and the city feels like yours alone. Just remember to book ahead; places like this fill up fast.

  I had an experience that was simply fantastic! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by Andrea, a true professional, who made us feel right at home.
  
  The rooms we stayed in were extraordinary. Spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated, they were the perfect place to relax after a busy day. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the high-quality linens contributed to a restful sleep. I also greatly appreciated the facilities, such as the well-stocked mini-bar… moreover, we had a wonderful surprise when our host gifted us two bottles of Prosecco, which I savoured together with my friends.
  
  The bathrooms were very clean, equipped with toiletry products.
  
  The hotel's location is excellent! Very close to the Rialto Bridge, we were able to explore the city on foot without needing any transportation. Additionally, Andrea provided us with plenty of useful information about places to visit and restaurants in the area.

  Super well located next to the Rialto bridge where we caught some stunning sunsets. Walkable to many attractions and the vaporetto stop is right next door for further excursions. The apartment is spacious, well designed and equipped, and emits a great vibe. We received a warm welcome from the helpful front office team who also suggested some nice places to eat.

  Truly had everything you need. A lift (very rare) washing machine, dishwasher, 2 types of coffee machines, tv’s, luxury bath products, lots of fresh towels, very comfy bed etc. It was spacious and very cleverly designed. Andrea was a perfect host.

Its strategic location ensures effortless exploration, with Rialto Mercato and Rialto vaporetto stops just steps away. Major landmarks such as Santa Lucia, Piazzale Roma, San Marco, and Ponte dell’Accademia are all within a pleasant 15- to 20-minute walk, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the city’s beauty with ease.
  
  The surrounding area offers an authentic Venetian living experience, unlike many other parts of the city. Right under the residence, you’ll find banks, pharmacies, bars, grocery stores, supermarkets, and some of Venice’s finest restaurants and pubs.
