Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon Cà Lessia almost by accident last spring when I was dodging the usual Venice crowds—honestly, if you’re tired of the San Marco crush, Cannaregio is where it’s at, a real slice of local life without all the pigeon-feeding tourists. I arrived via the vaporetto from Santa Lucia station, just a quick hop over the Ponte delle Guglie, and there it was, perched right on Fondamenta Cannaregio with that classic Venetian facade—faded pink stucco and those tall, narrow windows that make you feel like you’re stepping into some old merchant’s house. Check-in was a breeze; the owner, this chatty guy named Marco (or was it Matteo? Anyway, super friendly), handed over the keys with a quick rundown of the neighborhood spots—like that little bacaro around the corner on Rio Terà San Leonardo where you can grab cicchetti for pennies. No elevator, mind you—it’s an old building, so hauling luggage up those creaky wooden stairs was a bit of a workout, but hey, that’s Venice for you. The place smells faintly of salt water and fresh bread from the bakery next door, especially in the mornings when the canal’s all misty and quiet before the day trippers flood in.
What really hooked me was how the hotel nails that authentic vibe without trying too hard—it’s a converted palazzo, so rooms have these exposed beam ceilings and terracotta floors that are cool underfoot even in May’s humidity. Mine overlooked the Cannaregio Canal—woke up to the soft lap of water against the walls and gondoliers chatting in dialect, which beats any alarm clock. Beds are comfy, with those crisp white linens that actually feel luxurious, and the bathroom’s modern enough (rain shower head was a godsend after traipsing around all day), though the space is on the snug side—I mean, pack light or you’ll be playing Tetris with your suitcase. Breakfast is served in this cozy courtyard—fresh cornetti, yogurt, and cappuccinos that rival any café on Strada Nova, plus they throw in some prosciutto and cheese if you’re feeling savory. It’s not flashy, no spa or gym (who needs that in a walking city like this?), but the Wi-Fi’s solid for mapping out your next wander to the Jewish Ghetto, just a five-minute stroll away. Oh, and a minor gripe: the canal can get a tad noisy with boat traffic around rush hour—think early evening when everyone’s heading back from Murano—but earplugs sorted that out, and it quiets down by 10 p.m. most nights.
All in all, if you’re after a spot that feels lived-in and genuine, Cà Lessia is a solid pick—especially off-season in fall when the fog rolls in and the area’s even more magical, without the summer swarms. It’s not the glitzy five-star scene, but that’s the charm; you get that insider feel, like you’re crashing at a friend’s place with killer views. I’d go back in a heartbeat—well, maybe with lighter bags next time—and if you’re plotting a Venice trip, snag a room here before it books up. Trust me, it’ll make your stay way more memorable than those cookie-cutter spots by the Rialto.

Absolutely perfect place for your stay in Venice! – Wioleta from United Kingdom – 24 August 2024 (10/10)
Very easy self check in process. The accessibility to public transport is a major highlight. This property offers an unbeatable combination of convenience and charm, thanks to its proximity to not one, but two vaporetto stops.
The apartment itself is modern, clean and has everything you need (such as hob, microwave, iron, hairdryer, dishwasher, washing machine, Wi-Fi and AC etc). The bed was very comfortable and the place was very quiet at night.
I absolutely loved it ❤️😊

Exceptional – Irina from Switzerland – 30 April 2025 (10/10)
