Ca’ Lunetta – 5′ from St. Mark Square Overview

First Impressions

Walking down Calle del Paradiso — and yes, the street name really does mean “Paradise” — you’ll spot Ca’ Lunetta – 5′ from St. Mark Square tucked into one of those narrow Venetian passages that feels like a secret only locals know about. This four-star boutique property sits in the Castello district, which honestly gives you the best of both worlds: you’re literally five minutes from all the tourist madness of St. Mark’s, but the moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that’s hard to find in Venice.

Location That Actually Makes Sense

Here’s what I love about this spot — you can stumble out of your room and be at the Basilica before your morning coffee kicks in, but you’re not dealing with the constant stream of tour groups right outside your window. The Castello neighborhood has this authentic Venetian vibe where you’ll see actual residents hanging laundry and chatting with neighbors. I mean, couples absolutely rave about this location (there’s a reason it scored 9.9 for location), and after staying here, I get it. You’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the chaos to actually sleep at night.

The Space Itself

The rooms here feel more like staying in a well-appointed Venetian home than a typical hotel. You know what struck me most? The attention to local details — think Murano glass touches and that particular Venetian color palette that somehow makes even small spaces feel elegant. The building itself has that historic charm you’d expect (this is Venice, after all), but they’ve modernized things where it actually matters. The bathrooms work properly, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and there’s decent storage space, which — trust me — is not a given in this city.

Getting Around and Daily Life

One thing that really sets this place apart is how walkable everything becomes from here. Sure, Venice is small, but there’s a difference between being a 20-minute trek from the good stuff and being able to pop over to St. Mark’s Square for an evening aperitivo without planning your whole day around it. The nearest vaporetto stop is close enough that you won’t be dragging luggage through half the city, but you’re also in prime territory for just wandering on foot. And honestly, that’s how you want to experience Venice anyway — getting slightly lost in these medieval streets and stumbling onto hidden squares.

Why Guests Love It

What keeps people coming back here isn’t just the location (though that 9.9 score speaks for itself). It’s that Ca’ Lunetta manages to feel both authentically Venetian and genuinely comfortable, which is trickier than it sounds. You’re not sacrificing modern conveniences for charm, and you’re not stuck in some soulless chain hotel just to get reliable amenities. The staff actually knows the neighborhood and can point you toward that little bacaro around the corner or help you avoid the tourist traps. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about having your own little corner of Venice while still being in the thick of things when you want to be.

Early hotels booking in Venice secures balcony seats for Vogalonga regattas and torchlit basilica tours.

Reviews of Ca’ Lunetta – 5′ from St. Mark Square

  • Alison from United States – 1 February 2025 (8/10)

The amenities and size of the flat are good. It's hidden in a quiet alley but yet close to the square.

What could be improved: Because we reserved through Booking.com, so I thought all the communication between the host and us will be going through Booking.com (email or message). I did not expect the host to communicate via WhatsApp. I don't use this app regularly so I didn't think of to check for messages. Therefore I did not know we have to send our passport photos via WhatsApp ahead of time in order to receive the code to open the key box. The key box was located at a nearby hotel where I waited for more than an hour in the afternoon for the host to response to me with the code. I wish the communication of the passport photos could be made more clear and earlier, and the host could response sooner when needed. Also The tap water was a bit weird with lots of white particles in it. We weren't sure if it's safe to drink.

What a lovely gem of a place. Made you feel like you were in your own home. Lara was incredibly helpful and so friendly. I'd recommend this lovely spot to anyone. Easy key pickup from a nearby hotel. Very conveniently situated, and easy to pop back to for a break from the Venice crowds during the day. Surrounded by good restaurants, supermarkets literally around the corner on both sides, and close to San Marco Square and the Rialto Bridge. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Venice. Thank you Lara!!

What could be improved: I didn't like having to leave after 3 nights. Could have happily stayed longer, if time had allowed 🙂

  • Elizabeth from Italy – 7 September 2024 (9/10)

The apartment is fully furnished, equipped for families with children, clean and in an an ideal location being situated close to the main landmarks. The host provided detailed information on all aspects prior to arrival and check-in/out was easy.

  • Vladimir from Israel – 31 July 2024 (9/10)

The place is exactly as in photos – modern apartment that owner built for himself. It’s a pleasure to be there.

  • Mustafa from Turkey – 16 July 2024 (9/10)

Location was perfect, flat was very clean and everything was new and modern-looking. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was clean and spacious. Overall it was a good experience for us.

What could be improved: After paying an additional cleaning fee, it was not good that I had to take care of the garbage myself and taking it to somewhere outside.

  • Sue from Australia – 16 July 2024 (9/10)

Very good. It was very close and convenient to the apartment.

  • Ágnes from Hungary – 14 July 2024 (9/10)

    We liked it very much.

  • Tina from United Kingdom – 1 July 2024 (8/10)

Property was lovely. Nice and clean and perfect location.

What could be improved: Few things that needed updating, but only through general ware and Tare, but didn’t affect our stay.

  • Malo from United States – 8 June 2024 (9/10)

Everything was excellent! The owner was super nice and helpful since the beginning. We arrive very late and she organised the late check in with our problem and even got us some milk for the kids! The place was super well located, clean and spacious. A plus: the best ice creams were just around the corner!! We spent 4 days and would definitely come back and stay in Ca’Lunetta again.

What could be improved: Everything was super good. There was some humidity in the ceiling due to a recent heavy rain but the owner was already into it.
