Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon Ca’ Magna Apartment kind of by accident last spring when I was dodging the peak tourist crush in Venice – honestly, if you’re planning a trip, aim for April or May before the summer hordes turn the canals into a mosh pit. It’s tucked away in the Castello sestiere, right at 6118 on a quiet little calle off Via Garibaldi, which is this lively street where locals actually shop for their daily bread and veggies at the floating market. No cars, obviously – Venice being Venice – so I hopped off the vaporetto at Arsenale and wandered over with my suitcase clacking on the uneven stones. The check-in was a breeze; the host met me at the door with a key and a quick rundown in that charming Italian-English mix, no fuss about paperwork or anything. Walking in, it felt more like borrowing a friend’s stylish pad than a hotel – high ceilings with those exposed wooden beams that scream old Venetian palazzo, and a faint salty whiff from the nearby lagoon that hits you right away, mixing with the espresso from the kitchenette.
What really sold me on the place – well, besides the 4-star vibe without the stuffy attitude – was how it balances that authentic neighborhood feel with just enough modern perks to make you forget you’re in a city built on water. The apartment’s got these big windows overlooking a tiny courtyard where you can hear pigeons cooing and distant church bells from San Pietro di Castello, which is like a five-minute stroll away if you fancy a quiet morning walk. I mean, it’s not smack in the middle of San Marco’s chaos, thank goodness – that’s a vaporetto ride away if you must see the Doge’s Palace – but you’re close to the Biennale gardens for some green space, and there are these hole-in-the-wall osterias on Via Garibaldi serving cicchetti that taste way better (and cheaper) than the tourist traps. Inside, the beds are comfy with crisp linens that don’t feel mass-produced, and the bathroom’s got that sleek marble touch without being over-the-top. Oh, and parking? Forget it – but they can hook you up with tips for the Tronchetto lot if you’re driving in from the mainland. One minor gripe: the Wi-Fi can be spotty during evenings when everyone’s streaming, but hey, you’re in Venice – put the phone down and listen to the water lapping outside. It’s rated 9.1 for a reason; quiet at night, except maybe for the occasional boat horn, but that’s part of the charm.
All in all, if you’re the type who wants to live like a local rather than just visit – you know, brewing your own coffee in the morning and wandering back after a day exploring without feeling like you’re in a conveyor-belt hotel – Ca’ Magna’s a gem. I stayed for four nights and left wishing for more; it’s got that rare mix of history and homeyness that makes Venice feel less like a postcard and more like a place you could actually belong to, even if just for a bit. Sure, it’s not the cheapest spot, but for the space and location, it’s worth every euro – especially if you’re traveling with a partner or small group and want room to spread out. Next time I’m in town, that’s where I’m heading straight back to.

Reviews
Really enjoyed our visit – Jennifer from United States – 27 June 2025 (10/10)
We loved the views from the apartment, watching the boat traffic and gondolas go by. The beds were comfortable. It was nice having extra space in the 2nd bedroom (with the 3 twin beds). We used the kitchen with no issues and the drying rack was appreciated. The apartment has been renovated nicely. We stayed cool with the ac. The staff/owners (?) were very responsive to our communications.
What could be improved: Not a complaint because every review mentions it, I think, but there are a lot of stairs. About 85, but they're almost lady steps, so it isn't like 85 regular height stairs. There are also rest spots available on the way up/down.Pictures don’t do it justice. – Mauricio from Costa Rica – 17 May 2025 (10/10)
It felt like we were the first to use a brand new property. Heated floors, very spacious. And even a nice view from the windows.
What could be improved: It’s on a 3rd floor and so a bit of stairs to climb with luggage… but well worth it.Great location. – Julie-anne from Australia – 7 May 2025 (9/10)
Location and facilities in the apartment.
What could be improved: Very poor directions for location of the property. We had to ask several locals and after a long time we found the property. So I feel directions to the property must improve.Na – James from United States – 4 May 2025 (10/10)
All around, very nice, plenty of room.

Lovely apartment in handy quieter area, top floor so lots of stairs, but as a result apartment is light-filled
What could be improved: Water pressure in shower was very lowIt was the perfect place for a family – Darienne from United States – 6 March 2025 (8/10)
Very spacious and updated

Locality was excellent. In the middle of the town and still quiet.
What could be improved: A lot of stairs to the 3rd floor, esp. for elderly people. But thanks to the stairs the place is high and therefore very light and quiet. So probably a reasonable compromise.Excellent apartment in Venice – Marzena from United Kingdom – 26 February 2025 (10/10)
This is roomy, clean and bright apartment located in fantastic location within minutes walk away from main Venice attractions. Follow instruction given by owners how to find it. The apartment is on top floor of the townhouse with about 90 steps to climb, but when you get there, you will find bright and airy rooms with rooftops and canal views. Lovely and quiet. The apartment boasts modern facilities in the kitchen, sleek bathroom and spacious bedrooms and living room newly decorated.. Beds are comfy and with quality bedding and towels supplied. Heating worked well during our February stay. It is very nice place to stay, off the beaten track, so very quiet and not busy, but still within easy reach to all what Venice has on offer. Coop supermarket is just around the corner, brilliant for getting all provisions for self catering stay and there are some nice restaurants close by too.
What could be improved: nothing, all was greatPerfect stay for a family. 10/10 thank you! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Kate from New Zealand – 31 December 2024 (10/10)
BEST STAY! Beautiful spacious apartment, lovely views, quiet location, incredible hosts who were accomodating and gave great instructions and help for everything we needed. Good heating for the winter, all the basics provided. This was a dream trip for my inlaws and the accommodation made it even better. 10/10 would recommend. Would be a perfect apartment for a family with kids too.
What could be improved: Note that there are about 50 stairs to climb. Very easy coming down – much harder going up with your luggage haha 🤣Exceptional – Michael from United Kingdom – 5 November 2024 (10/10)
Plenty of space in the apartment. A fantastic location made it easy to get to from the train station – boat ride to Rialto and then a 10min walk. Easy to get into centre – Doges Palace in 10 mins. Very quiet at night and a great view of the canals. 15 min walk to get the boat to the airport.
