I remember stepping off the vaporetto at San Marco Vallaresso stop – you know, the one right by Harry’s Bar where all the tourists flock for those overpriced Bellinis – and weaving through the narrow calle with my suitcase bumping along the uneven stones. Venice in late spring can be a madhouse, but honestly, finding Ca’ Moro Clemente tucked away at 3419 San Marco felt like stumbling into a quiet secret. It’s not smack in the middle of the piazza’s chaos, but close enough that you’re just a five-minute stroll from St. Mark’s Basilica – I mean, you can hear the bells chiming faintly in the mornings if you crack a window. The building itself is one of those classic Venetian palazzos, with faded frescoes on the facade and these heavy wooden doors that creak open like they’re whispering old stories. Check-in was a breeze; the staff – a mix of locals who actually live on the mainland and commute by boat – handed me a key with a genuine smile and a tip about avoiding the crowds by hitting the Rialto Market early. No parking hassles here, obviously, since cars are a myth in Venice, but they sorted a water taxi pickup for my departure without batting an eye.

What really won me over, though, was how the place balances that old-world charm with stuff that actually makes a stay comfortable – none of that stuffy museum vibe some historic spots have. My room overlooked a tiny canal (well, more like a rioletto, if we’re being precise), and the bed was this massive, pillowy thing with linens that smelled faintly of lavender, like someone had just aired them out in the sun. Breakfast is served in a cozy courtyard – think fresh cornetti, cappuccino strong enough to wake the dead, and these little jars of homemade marmalade that tasted like they came straight from a nonna’s kitchen. It’s not huge, so it gets intimate in peak season (June through August, when the place books up fast), but that means no massive tour groups overwhelming the space. Noise-wise, it’s surprisingly peaceful at night – the thick walls block out the distant hum of vaporettos and those late-night gondoliers singing off-key – though I did hear a pigeon or two cooing on the roof at dawn, which sort of added to the authenticity. One minor gripe: the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the older wings, but hey, you’re in Venice; put the phone down and wander. The 4-star rating feels spot-on, and that 9.8 score? Totally earned – the staff even helped me snag last-minute tickets to La Fenice opera house, just a bridge away over Campo San Fantin.

Look, if you’re planning a trip to Venice and want somewhere that feels lived-in rather than tourist-trap sterile, Ca’ Moro Clemente is it. It’s the kind of spot where you linger over espresso in the morning, chatting with fellow guests about hidden spots like the quiet gardens in Dorsoduro, and then step out ready to tackle the day. Sure, it’s not the cheapest – rates spike in high season – but for the location, the personal touches, and that intangible Venetian magic, it’s worth every euro. I’ve stayed in fancier places, but this one left me actually missing it when I left. Book it if you can; just remember to pack light for those bridges.

  Upscale decor, very nice kitchen and bath! Comfortable beds, linens and couch. All the comforts of home!
  
  What could be improved: Property was not able to provide AC even though advertised as provided. Was told Mosquito repellent would be provided but was not. We visited in the two warmest days this spring. Mosquitos were an issue in the rooms. Bring repellent! Windows open! Property manager said govt did not allow use of AC but hotels and other condos had theirs on. Met many people with AC on. I am sure during summer months no issue. Was just a negative on our stay.

  Die Wohnung ist wunderschön! Sie ist sehr geschmackvoll und hochwertig ausgestattet. Sie ist sehr geräumig und liegt absolut ruhig. Wir haben uns von der ersten Minute an in der Wohnung sehr wohl gefühlt.

  Nous avons tout aimé. L’appartement est magnifique, plein de charme, spacieux, les équipements et la décoration sont modernes et très qualitatifs. L’emplacement, dans une petite ruelle très calme, entre la Place Saint Marc et le Pont du Rialto est idéal. Excellente communication pendant le séjour avec whatsapp. Une personne est venue nous chercher à la descente du bateau, ce qui était très appréciable car nous aurions peut être eu du mal à trouver par nous même . L’utilisation d’une application de géolocalisation est utile pour se repérer au début. Mais quel bonheur de se perdre dans ces petites ruelles toutes plus belles les unes que les autres. Même si on ne le voit pas immédiatement en arrivant, de nombreux commerces et restaurants sont très proches.

  Schönes Appartment in ausgezeichneter Lage. Die Agentur organisierte uns ein privates Wassertaxi und empfing uns an der Anlegestelle nahe dem Apartment. Wir wurden zum Appartment begleitet. Schneller und einfacher Check-in. Sehr freundliches Personal bei der Übergabe. Das Appartment zeigt sich in einem modernen Design, sehr sauber und hell, top ausgestattet. Uns hat es an nichts gefehlt. Das Appartment ist für Venedig überdurchschnittlich groß und auch für längere Aufenthalte zu empfehlen. Alles was man so benötigt befindet sich in unmittelbarer Nähe. Am Abend war es sehr leise und ruhig in der Gegend. Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit und kommen gerne wieder.
  
  What could be improved: Nichts zu bemängeln. Das Anmeldeformular könnte man eventuell einfacher und verständlicher gestalten. Aufschlag für späte Anreise ist gerade noch akzeptabel, muss aber in dieser Preiskategorie nicht wirklich sein.
