Venice in the late afternoon has this golden haze, with the smell of saltwater from the lagoon mixing with fresh bread from some hidden bakery nearby, and I was dragging my suitcase over those uneven stones, thinking, well, this better be worth the schlep. But as soon as I pushed open the door – this unassuming wooden thing with a brass knocker shaped like a lion’s head – it hit me: that cozy, lived-in warmth you don’t always get in these historic spots. The lobby’s small, sort of intimate, with exposed beams and a few Murano glass pieces scattered around (hence the name, I guess, nodding to the island’s famous craft even though we’re solidly in San Marco). Check-in was a breeze; the owner, this chatty local guy named Marco – yeah, fitting – handed over the key with a quick rundown of the best nearby gelato spot on Calle della Mandola, which turned out to be a lifesaver after a long day.

What really sets Ca’ Moro Murano apart, though, is how it balances that old-Venice charm with stuff that actually makes your stay comfortable. My room overlooked a quiet courtyard – no canal view, mind you, but honestly, that meant zero noise from gondoliers belting out “O Sole Mio” at all hours, which can be a drag in busier spots like near the Rialto. The bed was plush, with those crisp white linens that feel like a hug after pounding the pavements, and the bathroom had one of those rain showers that washes away the humidity stickiness – Venice summers can be brutal, you know? It’s a four-star place, rated a solid 9.3, and it earns it with thoughtful touches like fresh fruit in the morning (sourced from the Rialto market, apparently) and free Wi-Fi that doesn’t sputter out like in some older buildings. Oh, and no elevator – that’s the minor gripe; those steep stairs are authentic, sure, but pack light if you’re not up for the workout. I spent evenings on the tiny terrace, sipping prosecco while the bells from St. Mark’s Basilica echoed softly – it’s just a five-minute stroll away, past the Correr Museum, but far enough that you escape the tourist throngs by nightfall. During high season, like Carnevale, it books up fast, so plan ahead; off-peak in November, it’s blissfully quiet, with that misty fog rolling in.

Look, if you’re chasing that real Venice vibe without the over-the-top luxury prices, Ca’ Moro Murano is it – I mean, it’s not flawless, but it’s got soul. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better base for wandering to hidden gems like the Libreria Acqua Alta bookstore or grabbing cicchetti at a bacaro on nearby Campo San Bartolomeo. I left feeling like I’d actually lived there a bit, not just passed through, and that’s saying something in a city that can feel like a postcard sometimes. (Word count: 428)

  Great amenities in the apartment, everything you need for a trip away. Location was central but not too busy. Apartment was secure and had a safe to store valuables. Washing machine, dish washer and fast broadband. Person who met us with the keysnwas knowledgeable and gave us great tips for our stay.
  
  What could be improved: Even though we called 1hr before key collection and text when we got on the boat, we still had to wait 20min for the keys. When we called to say we were at the meeting point, it seemed she hadn't even left yet to meet us. Minor point but we were tired from traveling.
  
  The flush in the apartment was temperamental and did not always work.
  
  When I text the management company, about the flush, they did not even respond.
  
  I asked about a late check out on arrival and was told to text on the penultimate day to see if they had a booking or not. I complied but my text was ignored. When I called that evening to follow up, I was told it was booked for the next day (which is fine and understandable) so we had to be out by 10am. No issues with this but it would have been useful to have that information earlier when I text so we could make alternative arrangements.
  
  These are minor points and overall had a great stay at the apartment.

  Appartement très bien placé et remarquablement décoré et équipé dans lequel il ne manque absolument rien. L'ensemble de l'électroménager (réfrigérateur avec un vrai compartiment congélateur, lave-vaisselle, lave-linge, …) est neuf et de grande marque (Miele) et les accessoires de cuisine sont complets (casseroles et poêles Le Creuset !). Tout est fourni, ce qui est indéniablement un plus: sel, poivre, huile, vinaigre, liquide vaisselle, pastilles lave-linge, pastilles lave-vaisselle, etc … La literie est par ailleurs excellente.
  Bref, on ne peut que conseiller pour un très bons séjour sur Venise !!!
