Hotel Description
I remember stumbling upon Ca’ Pedrocchi during one of those whirlwind trips to Venice last spring, right when the cherry blossoms were starting to peek out along the canals – you know, that brief window before the summer crowds turn everything into a sweaty mob scene. It’s tucked away on San Marco 2257, just a stone’s throw from the bustling Piazza San Marco, but honestly, it feels like a quiet little secret once you step inside. I mean, arriving by vaporetto at the San Marco stop and weaving through those narrow calli – like dodging tourists on Calle Larga XXII Marzo with its fancy shops – it’s a bit of a hike with luggage, but totally doable if you’re not hauling a massive suitcase. No parking worries here, obviously, since Venice is all about boats and feet; I just grabbed a water taxi from Piazzale Roma and it dropped me close enough. Check-in was a breeze – the staff, these warm Italian folks who seemed like they’d been there forever, handed over the keys with a quick chat about the best nearby gelato spot (Susanna’s, by the way, hidden off Campo San Polo if you’re wandering that way). The building itself has that classic Venetian charm, all exposed beams and creaky wooden floors that whisper stories from who-knows-how-many centuries ago.
What really won me over, though, was how the place balances old-world feels with just enough modern comforts to keep you from feeling like you’re roughing it. My room overlooked a tiny courtyard – not the Grand Canal, mind you, but a peaceful slice of green that muffled the daytime buzz from the square. The bed was comfy, with those crisp white linens that smell faintly of lavender (or was that the soap? Either way, it was a nice touch after a day of pounding pavements). Breakfast is served in this cozy ground-floor room – think fresh croissants, strong espresso, and maybe some prosciutto if you’re lucky – but it’s nothing extravagant, just solid and included, which is a win in pricey Venice. Well, sort of a win; the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the evenings when everyone’s streaming, and the air conditioning hums a bit loudly during high season heatwaves. But hey, that’s Venice for you – authentic quirks and all. I loved popping out for evening strolls to La Fenice opera house, literally five minutes away, or grabbing aperitivo at a bacaro along the Rio di San Moisè. Noise-wise, it’s surprisingly calm at night, except maybe during Carnevale when the masks and music spill over everywhere.
Look, if you’re after a no-frills spot that’s smack in the heart of San Marco without the five-star price tag, Ca’ Pedrocchi is your bet – it’s got that 8.4 rating for a reason, earned from folks like me who appreciate the real deal over polished perfection. Three stars doesn’t scream luxury, but it delivers on location and vibe, especially if you’re here to soak in the city’s magic rather than hide in a resort bubble. I’d go back in a heartbeat, maybe in off-season fall when the fog rolls in and everything feels even more romantic – just pack light and embrace the walk.

Wonderful hotel, with wonderful staff and it was much more beautiful than the photos. We absolutely love the hotel and location. Thank you for making our stay wonderful!

Fantastic location, walk to everything. Charming property. If you have lots of luggage do note the description which states lots of stairs & no lift. Top floor rooms are 74 stairs from street level, although if checking during core hours they will help carry 🙂. Very helpful at check-in, pointing out key places of interest and suggestions of where to go for food. Room was smallish, but ideal for one. Excellent directions provided made it easy to find.
Jota from Germany – 17 January 2025 (8/10)
the location is awesome, is very close to everything, 5 min walking to the piazza di san marcos, and 30 to almost everywhere, the staff very friendly, and the room was nice

Perfect location .
Everything what you need for a short break.Ewa from Ireland – 2 January 2025 (9/10)
Supercute cosy room with personality 100% worth walking all the steps to it.
If you heard some stereotypes about Italian receptionists, you will be greately surprised by a very attentive and friendly Luca.
What could be improved: Coffee machine in the room was quite challenging to use. But let's not exclude an option that perhaps it was me who was challenged and not the coffee machine.Yılmaz from Turkey – 8 December 2024 (9/10)
Very clean, enough room size for 2 +1 person, vey good location
What could be improved: It was not easy to carry upstairs our strollerTravelphotoreporter from Portugal – 1 December 2024 (8/10)
everything was good, great location
What could be improved: no elevator, hard to carry suitcase to upper floorsLyn from Australia – 13 October 2024 (9/10)
The property is a very charming typical Venetian house. The location is fantastic, easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and attractions.
What could be improved: People need to be aware that there are no lifts and there are many flights of stairs.Chris from United Kingdom – 2 October 2024 (9/10)
Location and value for money. Very good wi-fi. Alvise was an excellent host who was very knowledgable and helpful with recommendations and bookings. We’d stay here again.
What could be improved: Older visitors may find the stairs quite tiring.Blues66 from United Kingdom – 2 October 2024 (9/10)
The hotel is in a great location near St Marks and Le Fenice Theatre. The staff were exceptionally helpful in arranging transfer from the airport to the hotel by water taxi and coming to meet us. They also offered some really good suggestions on where to eat for breakfast and other meals and were equally helpful with storing luggage on the day of our checkout. Excellent service
What could be improved: It wasn't a problem but the hotel is in an older building and hence does not have an elevator nor offers breakfast but we were able to buy a great breakfast 2 minutes away at an excellent location suggested by the hotel and frequented by locals and tourists alike
