Honestly, if you’re arriving by rail like I did, it’s a godsend; no need to wrestle with a vaporetto ticket right away or drag your luggage through throngs of tourists. The sestiere feels more lived-in than the San Marco madness – locals buzzing around on Rio Terà San Leonardo with their grocery bags, the faint salty tang of the canal mixing with espresso from nearby cafés. Check-in was a breeze; the owner (I think his name was Marco? Or was it Matteo?) handed over the keys with a quick chat about the best time to hit the Rialto market – early mornings, he said, before the crowds turn it into a zoo.

What really won me over was how this place nails that cozy, authentic Venetian feel without trying too hard. It’s a 3-star spot, but with an 8.9 rating that feels earned – the rooms are compact, sure, like most in Venice (I mean, space is at a premium here), but mine had these exposed wooden beams overhead that made it feel like stepping into an old palazzo. The bed was firm but comfy, and oh man, that WI-FI fiber they brag about in the name? It’s no joke – streamed a whole movie without a hitch, which is rare in these historic buildings where signals can get wonky. There’s a little breakfast setup in the mornings with fresh cornetti and cappuccino that hits the spot, though it’s nothing extravagant; just enough to fuel you for wandering. I loved the quiet hum of the neighborhood at night – distant boat horns on the canal, maybe a laugh from a nearby osteria – but fair warning, it can get a tad noisy around rush hour when folks are commuting over the bridge. Still, for the price, it’s a steal; you’re steps from hidden gems like the Jewish Ghetto, where you can grab the best falafel at Gam Gam (trust me, go for lunch), or pop into a bacaro for cicchetti without the tourist markup.

All in all, if you’re after a spot that feels genuinely Venetian – not some glossy chain – this is it. I stayed in early fall, when the summer hordes thin out and you can actually hear your thoughts while sipping spritz on a campo nearby. It’s not perfect; the bathroom was on the snug side, and parking? Ha, forget it – this is Venice, after all, cars are a myth here. But that’s part of the charm. You’d care if you want to wake up to the real pulse of the city, maybe catch a sunset gondola ride from the nearby traghetto stop, without blowing your budget. I’d go back in a heartbeat – well, as long as I pack lighter next time.

  Extremely spacious, with a big kitchen, a huge lounge and two really big bedrooms with lovely views. Main door apartment , direct entry to the apartment. Individual private stairs, which is beautiful. The location is really good and no need to go through any bridges. Is a really reasonable price and a fantastic place to stay. Also there’s a supermarket nearby, super convenient.

  Konumu çok güzel, market, eczane, vaporetto durak, tren istasyonuna çok yakın, yürüme mesafesinde.. Tatil bittiğinde yürüyerek otobüs durağına ulaşım mümkün. Mutfak çok güzel ve en ince ayrıntıya kadar düşünülmüş, banyo yenilenmiş ve temizdi. Biz Roma'dan geçiş yaptık, neyle geleceğimiz, hangi durakta bineceğimiz, nerden bilet almamız gerek gibi konularda yazdığımız mesajlara cevap verdi ve çok yardımcı oldu. Gayet ilgili bir ev sahibiydi genel olarak. Her mesaja hızlı dönüş yaptı. Ev sahibi olduğunu düşündüğümüz kişi bizi karşıladı, gerekli bilgileri verdi anahtarı teslim etti.

  Salon perdesinde ve yerinde böcek gördük ev sahibine söyledik ama camı açtığımızda girmiş olabileceğini söyledi. Ama biz camı hiç açmadık diye belirttik, birşey söylemedi.. Çıkış saatinde tam kapıdan çıkarken saat tam 10:00'da evin sahibi aşağıdan zile bastı, yani saatin 10:00 olmasını bekliyordu sanırım kapıda zile basmak için 🤣 sakın çıkış saatinin esnek olabileceğini düşünmeyin, 1 dakika bile geç çıkamazsınız.
