Hotel Description
I remember stepping off the vaporetto at Rialto – you know, that bustling stop where everyone’s juggling luggage and dodging pigeons – and weaving through those narrow calles to find Cà Rialto 4122. It’s tucked away on Calle Corner Piscopia o Loredan, right in the heart of San Marco, but not smack in the tourist crush like some spots near the bridge. Honestly, it felt like a little secret; I got a bit turned around at first because Venice’s alleys all start looking the same after a while, especially if you’ve got jet lag kicking in. But once I buzzed the door – no fancy lobby here, just a discreet entrance that opens into this surprisingly elegant space – I was hooked. The check-in was low-key and friendly; the host, this chatty local guy named Marco (I think? Or was it Matteo?), handed over the keys with tips on avoiding the midday crowds at nearby Campo San Bartolomeo. And the smell – that mix of old stone and faint canal water, but in a charming way, not the funky kind you get in summer heat waves.
What really sets this place apart, though – and I mean, it’s why I’d book it again in a heartbeat – is that luxury terrace. It’s a 4-star spot with a 9.3 rating for good reason, but the terrace is the star; picture yourself up there at dusk, sipping prosecco while the bells from San Marco peal out over the rooftops. The rooms are cozy, sort of old-world Venetian with high ceilings and those heavy drapes that block out the morning light if you’re nursing a hangover from too much spritz at a nearby bacaro like All’Arco (just a five-minute stroll away, by the way – go for the cicchetti, they’re divine). My suite had this plush bed that felt like sinking into a cloud after pounding the pavements all day, and the bathroom was spotless with those rainfall showers that make you linger. Well, minor gripe: no elevator, so if you’re hauling heavy bags up the stairs, pack light or ask for help – they were quick to lend a hand. Noise-wise, it’s pretty quiet for Venice; you might hear the occasional gondola serenade drifting up from the rio below, but nothing like the racket from the Grand Canal hotels. And in high season, like July, it stays peaceful because it’s off the main drag – no tour groups clogging your doorstep.
Look, if you’re coming to Venice for that authentic vibe without the over-the-top glitz, Cà Rialto 4122 is it. It’s not the cheapest – rates can nudge up during Carnevale – but you get what you pay for: proximity to gems like the Rialto Market (fresh produce and that briny seafood smell in the mornings) and easy walks to Piazza San Marco without feeling like you’re in a theme park. I stayed three nights last fall, and it left me with this warm, lingering sense of place – the kind where you wake up to soft light filtering through shutters and think, yeah, this is why we travel. If you’re solo or with a partner (families might find it a tad snug), book it; just remember to hit the terrace at sunset. You won’t regret it.

It was very spacious, and 5 bathrooms for four bedrooms. I liked that air conditioner was controlled in each room. Thank you, we had a wonderful time in Venice.

Mr. Asela was very thorough. However, reaching Mr. Sandy was quite challenging as he was our original contact and he was very abrupt with me when trying to coordinate our arrival time – in the pouring rain I might add. I was "disconnected" from him. It was quite frustrating as his contact information was provided as the person to reach.
What could be improved: Communication before our arrival was very confusing and we were not receiving messages – also disconnected from our main contact and no response. When we arrived in the apartment and got settled, trash from the former occupants was still in the apartment bathrooms.Jose from Spain – 28 January 2025 (9/10)
