You know, I stumbled upon Ca’ Rossini 2 almost by accident during a rainy October trip to Venice – I’d been wandering the narrow calli around San Marco, dodging the usual tourist crush near the Basilica, and suddenly there it was, tucked away on San Marco 4009, just a stone’s throw from the Fenice Opera House. Honestly, arriving by vaporetto to the San Marco stop and then hoofing it over with my luggage felt like a mini adventure; no cars in Venice means you’re either walking or boating, and this spot’s perfect for that – close enough to the action without being right in the middle of the Piazza’s chaos. The building itself is this charming old palazzo, with those classic Venetian shutters and a discreet entrance that makes you feel like you’re slipping into a local secret. Check-in was a breeze, well, sort of – the staff (a friendly mix of Italians and expats) greeted me with espresso and tips on avoiding the high-water alerts, which come in handy during acqua alta season. I mean, it’s not some grand lobby affair, but that’s Venice for you; everything’s intimate and a bit labyrinthine.

What really won me over, though, was how the place blends that old-world elegance with just enough modern comfort to make you forget you’re in a city built on water. My room – one of the suites overlooking a quiet rio (that’s a small canal, for the uninitiated) – had these exposed wooden beams and plush linens that smelled faintly of lavender, like someone’s nonna had just aired them out. You could hear the distant lap of water against the walls at night, and in the mornings, the bells from nearby churches would chime softly, not obnoxiously like some spots closer to the Rialto. Breakfast was a highlight: fresh cornetti, prosciutto, and cappuccino served in a cozy courtyard – nothing fancy, but way better than the overpriced cafes on Calle Larga XXII Marzo, which is literally a five-minute stroll away if you need a quick gelato fix or a spritz at Harry’s Bar. Oh, and the Wi-Fi? Surprisingly solid for Venice, where signals can get wonky in those thick stone walls. That said, the stairs are steep and there’s no elevator – a minor gripe if you’re hauling heavy bags, but hey, it adds to the authentic charm, right? I spent afternoons just chilling on the terrace, watching gondolas glide by, and evenings exploring the sestiere without feeling rushed; it’s quiet after dark, especially off-season when the day-trippers vanish.

All in all, if you’re after a 4-star stay that feels genuinely Venetian – not some cookie-cutter chain – Ca’ Rossini 2 is a gem with its 9.2 rating earned honestly. It’s ideal for couples or solo travelers who want to dip into the magic of San Marco without the overwhelm; think romantic walks to the Bridge of Sighs or easy access to the vaporetto for day trips to Murano. Sure, summer crowds can make the surrounding streets buzz a bit too much, and prices spike then, but book in shoulder season and you’ll thank me. I left feeling like I’d uncovered a little piece of la dolce vita – you know what, it’s the kind of place that makes you plot your return before you’ve even packed up.

  Beautiful apartment, perfect location, quiet neighborhood, close to San Marco Plazza, grocery store just around de corner. We enjoyed every minute of our stay.

  Amazing communication! We were met and escorted to the property and met when leaving to bring us to the taxi. The property was beautiful and clean, and located close to everything. Definitely would stay again and or use these people for another property.

  The host met us far into the evening because of our late flight arrival (albeit with an extra charge). The property is large and centrally located. The host gave us useful recommendations for nearby restaurants, and everything in the apartment worked well. Wi-fi and TV reception were better than usual. The washing machine and dish washer were also helpful. Air conditioning was effective and essential during the hot period of our visit.
  
  What could be improved: It's hard to think of anything, although it would be helpful to add hair conditioner to the shampoo and body wash. It's probably not suitable for guests with mobility restrictions, because the unit is on the third floor with no elevator.

  The service was great, we had a water taxi organised for our arrival and were met getting off the boat by Matteo, who nicely let us into apartment and made sure we were comfortable and understood where everything was. Great service!
  The apartment itself was spacious and well laid out, good amenities and in a great location. Would definitely stay there again!!!

  What could be improved: No screens on windows, I know this is common in Italy. However, weather was cooler & windows opened, mosquitoes came in!
  The noise from the bar below…hence windows open, could be loud at times. With all that being said allot of that is something really can’t control as everything is packed in & so close together!

  Location wa good, however, we should of been notified that the pub has late night music which you can hear in the apartment. Easy to walk to St Mark and Rialto. All in all – a good location.
  
  What could be improved: Small touches in the apartment. No cereal bowls. Lack of different size glasses. No drainage space when washing dishes. No mirrors in bedrooms. No shelves in showers. Air con in sitting room was not adequate. No lifts so if immobile this should be identified.
