It’s not flashy or anything – just a classic Venetian building with those weathered stone walls and wooden shutters that creak a bit in the breeze off the canals. Honestly, checking in was a breeze; the owner, this friendly local guy who speaks perfect English (with a thick Italian accent that makes everything sound poetic), handed over the key with a smile and a tip about avoiding the tourist traps for dinner. No parking hassles here, obviously – Venice being Venice, you leave your car on the mainland and embrace the walking (or water taxi) life. But yeah, that first whiff of salty canal air mixed with fresh espresso from the nearby café? It sets the tone right away.

What really won me over, though, was how this 3-star gem punches way above its weight – we’re talking a 9.2 rating for good reason. The rooms are cozy, sort of compact like most places in old Venice buildings (you might bump elbows in the bathroom if you’re not careful), but they’re spotless with these comfy beds that have actual feather pillows, not those stiff hotel ones. I stayed in one overlooking the calle, and waking up to the soft clatter of footsteps and distant gondola calls was magical – well, except during peak summer when the tourists flood in around 10 a.m., making it a tad noisy until evening. Still, it’s quieter than spots right on the Grand Canal; you’re steps from the Rialto Bridge for that iconic view, or a short stroll to Piazza San Marco without feeling swallowed by the crowds. Breakfast is simple but solid – fresh croissants, yogurt, and cappuccino served in a little courtyard that smells like blooming jasmine in spring (I visited in May, which is prime time before the July heatwave hits). Oh, and pro tip: if you’re into hidden gems, wander down to Campo San Luca nearby for an aperitivo at a local bar where Venetians actually hang out, not just the tour groups. There’s no fancy gym or spa, but who needs that when you’re burning calories exploring?

All in all, if you’re after an authentic slice of Venice without breaking the bank, Ca San Luca is your spot – it’s got that lived-in charm that makes you feel like a temporary local, not just another visitor. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season in fall when the fog rolls in and everything gets a bit mysterious. Just pack light; those narrow stairs to the upper floors aren’t elevator-friendly, but hey, that’s part of the adventure, right?

  Amazing location in the heart of EVERYTHING!!!! I would highly recommed this place just based on the location alone. The apartment was also very clean and spacious. All rooms had TVs with access to Netflix. Bed arrangement was not ideal for 5 people (4 women and 1 male) but we made it work. Lastly, apartment was very close to Rialto stop which we used to get to the apartment and take the boat back to airport. 100/10! Highly recommend.
  
  What could be improved: My family and I were not prepared for the 3 flights of stairs that we had to climb but there isn't much that can be done about that as the building wasn't equipped with an elevator. In total, we had 10 pieces of luggage between the 5 of us as this was the final stop on our two week vacation in Europe. Also the bed arrangement wasn't ideal for 5 people. I did't like the small twin beds included in two of the rooms. I would suggest a different arrangement so that it truly feels as if two people can share a room and both people feel comfortable.

  Absolutely fantastic central location- walking distance to St Marks square, Rialto bridge and the stop where the waterbus from the airport arrives.
  Lovely, clean apartment.

  What could be improved: Thought it was two bathrooms but it was one bathroom (with shower, WC, bidet and sink) and a separate WC.

  We loved our stay at the apartment. The host, Cristina, was very responsive and so helpful. She met us when we arrived to let us in and gave some great recommendations for food. The apartment is in an ideal location. We could walk to all the main sites and were close to a lot of good restaurants. The apartment is very spacious and was more than enough room for our family of 5. Our very tall teenager loved having his own large bed and said it was very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!
