The Camilla apartment in Venice-Molino is tucked away at isola giudecca venezia 814 int. 4, right in the heart of what feels like a real neighborhood, not some postcard set piece. Honestly, getting there was a breeze; I hopped on line 4.1 from Piazzale Roma, and it was maybe 15 minutes of bobbing along the water, past those massive cruise ships that dock nearby – though fair warning, they can make the lagoon a bit choppy in high season. The building itself is this unassuming old structure, with that classic Venetian plaster that’s a little weathered around the edges, and check-in was super low-key; the host met me at the door with keys and a quick rundown, no fuss like at those big hotels over in San Marco. Inside, it hit me right away – the place smells faintly of salt air and fresh linens, and the high ceilings make it feel way bigger than you’d expect for a 4-star spot in Venice.

What really sold me on Camilla was how it balances that apartment vibe with just enough polish to feel special – I mean, it’s not a sterile hotel room; it’s got a full kitchen where I whipped up pasta from the little market down on Fondamenta delle Zitelle, and the living area has these comfy sofas that beg for an evening with a bottle of Prosecco while watching the sun dip over the water. The views from the windows? Stunning, actually – you’re looking right out at the Giudecca Canal, with boats puttering by and the occasional gondola in the distance, but it’s quiet enough at night that you can hear the water lapping instead of street noise. There’s no parking to worry about (ha, good luck with cars in Venice anyway), but if you’re lugging bags, the walk from the vaporetto is flat and short, maybe five minutes. I stayed in summer, when the island gets a bit busier with folks escaping the heat in the main city, but even then, it was peaceful – well, except for the church bells from San Giorgio Maggiore across the way, which ring out charmingly at dawn. The bathroom’s modern, with a rain shower that was a godsend after traipsing around Murano for the day, though I will say the Wi-Fi can be spotty if you’re streaming; better for unplugging, I suppose. And nearby, you’ve got that massive Molino Stucky complex – used to be a flour mill, now it’s got bars and a rooftop pool if you fancy a splurge – plus easy access to the Redentore church for those fireworks in July.

All in all, if you’re after a slice of authentic Venice without the overwhelm, Camilla’s a gem – rated 8.5 for good reason, I’d say. It’s perfect for couples or small families who want space to spread out (sleeps up to four comfortably), and at that price point, you’re getting way more value than squeezing into a tiny room near the Rialto. Just pack light, time your vaporetto rides to avoid the rush hours around 8 AM, and maybe grab breakfast at the corner bakery – their cornetti are flaky heaven. I left feeling like I’d actually lived in Venice for a bit, not just visited, and that’s saying something in a city that can feel like a theme park otherwise.

  The apartment is spacious, clean and in a nice area. Both Alberto, the owner, and Gianni, who let us in, were exceedingly helpful.
  
  What could be improved: The area was lovely and quiet, but because it is not on the main island, there is an extra water bus journey involved each time you come and go from the main island. It is not a major inconvenience, and the price more than makes up for it.

  A family of 2 adults and 2 late teenagers for 2 night stay. Good communication from owner. Clean, comfortable and a god size apartment. Air conditioning good. Quiet location, but just the right distance from the main attractions, so suited us perfectly!

  This apartment was beautiful: clean and spacious with a fully equiped kitchen, great size rooms and beautiful location. The host Alberto was so friendly, he helped us with everything!
  
  What could be improved: I wish we had known that the closest stop was only for the one boat company, then perhaps we would have bought tickets for that instead of the Vaporetti.

  Very good host who communicated well and was always available. The flat is spacious and in a good location next to the Hilton. It was particularly nice to have a combination of beds to suit our family's needs. We really enjoyed our time there. Giudecca is great. It has plenty of restaurants and a great coffee breakfast place near the vaporetto stop. Although you will need to use boats more to get back and forth, it is such fun to be on the water and to sit looking at the water. A peaceful haven from tourist season on the main island. Would stay again.
