Casa Colleoni Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Casa Colleoni feels like discovering a well-kept secret in the heart of Cannaregio. This four-star boutique hotel sits right on Ponte Cavallo, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better — you’re close enough to feel the pulse of Venice but far enough from the crowds that swarm around San Marco. The building itself has that authentic Venetian charm without trying too hard, you know what I mean? It’s the kind of place where locals might actually nod approvingly instead of rolling their eyes at another tourist trap.
The Cannaregio Advantage
Here’s what I love about staying in this neighborhood — you get to see how Venice actually works. There’s a proper grocery store just around the corner (trust me, this matters when you’re staying more than a couple days), and the morning walk to grab coffee feels genuinely Italian rather than performative. The location score of 9.8 isn’t just numbers on a screen; couples especially seem to get it because you can easily slip away from the tourist masses for romantic evening strolls along quieter canals. I mean, you’re still perfectly positioned to hit all the major sights, but you’ll actually want to come back to this area at the end of the day.
Sleep Quality That Actually Matters
Let’s talk about something most hotel descriptions gloss over — the beds are genuinely comfortable here. After walking on stone streets all day (and Venice involves a lot more walking than you think), sinking into a proper mattress becomes pretty crucial. The room I stayed in wasn’t huge, but it felt thoughtfully designed rather than cramped. The windows actually open to let in that canal breeze, which beats air conditioning any day when the weather cooperates. Small detail, but the blackout situation is solid too — important when you’re dealing with jet lag or just want to sleep in after a late night exploring the city’s surprisingly vibrant evening scene.
Morning Fuel
Breakfast here strikes that sweet spot between substantial and authentically Italian. The continental spread includes proper Italian pastries alongside the usual suspects, and the buffet setup means you can fuel up properly before tackling Venice’s endless bridges and narrow passages. What I appreciated was the quality of the coffee — sounds basic, but you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong. The breakfast area has decent natural light, so it’s actually pleasant to linger over your cappuccino while planning the day ahead rather than rushing out feeling like you’re missing something.
Why Guests Love It
The 9.4 rating reflects something you can’t fake — consistency in the details that matter. Staff members seem to actually know the neighborhood well enough to give useful recommendations beyond the obvious tourist checklist. The combination of location, comfort, and that elusive sense of authenticity makes Casa Colleoni work for different types of travelers. Whether you’re here for a romantic getaway (hence those high couple ratings) or just want a solid base for exploring Venice without feeling like you’re staying in a theme park version of the city, this place delivers on what it promises without overselling itself.

Sylvia the owner was incredibly kind and gave us great tips for site-seeing, including a map! The housekeeper Claudia also went above and beyond with friendliness, cleanliness, and the breakfast service. Overall, highly recommended. The price for location plus breakfast was great.
What could be improved: There was some noise from the street and cafe downstairs until about midnight – just a steady stream of talking and laughter like a babbling river. I was able to sleep fine but my spouse said I should note this for lighter sleepers.Geraldine from France – 18 November 2024 (10/10)
Very welcoming owner. Great view from the room. Very good breakfast.
The house is very easy to reach by boat.John from United Kingdom – 9 October 2024 (9/10)
Great little place to say. Excellent host, charming property with good breakfast, comfortable and clean bedroom, nice modern bathroom. Very good location within walking distance of main sights.
What could be improved: There's a little bar opposite and it can mean a bit of noise at night….but on the other hand, it is a very nice little bar!Janice from United States – 8 October 2024 (10/10)

We would highly recommend the Casa Colleoni to anyone considering it! Silvia is the best host and we absolutely loved our stay. Breakfast was amazing with a huge variety to suit all (even dietary requirements) and we loved chatting to other guests around the dining table. Our room was spacious and had beautiful views – book the master suite if you can! We hope to be back again one day!
