CasaGiulietta Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the narrow streets of Castello to find CasaGiulietta feels like discovering a secret that only locals know about. This three-star boutique property sits tucked away on Corte del Soldà, and honestly, the address alone tells you everything — you’re in one of Venice’s most authentic neighborhoods, far from the tourist chaos around San Marco. The entrance is understated in that perfectly Venetian way, where the real magic happens once you step inside.
Location Magic
You know what’s brilliant about staying in Castello? You get to live like an actual Venetian for a few days. I mean, this area scored 9.9 for location, and after spending time here, I totally get why couples especially love it. You’re walking distance from the Biennale gardens (perfect for morning strolls), the Arsenale, and some of the city’s best bacari — those tiny wine bars where locals actually hang out. The vaporetto stops are close enough when you need them, but far enough that you won’t hear tourist groups shuffling past your window at dawn.
The Accommodation
The room I stayed in had that perfect balance of Venetian character and modern comfort that’s honestly hard to find in this city. We’re talking original beamed ceilings and terrazzo floors, but also proper air conditioning and a bathroom that actually works (trust me, this matters in Venice). The windows open onto the quiet courtyard, and there’s something magical about waking up to the sound of church bells instead of water taxis. The beds are comfortable, and the Wi-Fi actually reaches every corner — small details that make a difference when you’re planning your day.
Neighborhood Gems
What I love about this part of Castello is how it feels like a real neighborhood. There’s a fantastic restaurant called Alle Testiere just a few minutes’ walk away (book ahead, seriously), and the local bakery on Via Garibaldi does these incredible pastries that become your daily ritual. The Giardini della Biennale are practically on your doorstep, which means you have actual green space in Venice — something most visitors never experience. Plus, you can walk to St. Mark’s Square in about fifteen minutes, but you’ll probably find yourself preferring the quieter charms of your own corner.
Why Guests Love It
CasaGiulietta works because it gives you the Venice experience without the Venice headaches. You’re staying somewhere that feels authentically local, but you’re not sacrificing comfort or accessibility. The staff clearly knows the neighborhood inside and out — they’ll point you toward the best cicchetti spots and tell you which vaporetto routes to avoid during rush hour. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’ve discovered something special, and honestly, with that 9.9 location score, you sort of have. This isn’t just a place to sleep between sightseeing — it’s a base for actually experiencing Venice the way it’s meant to be experienced.
To book hotel in Venice for Carnival, travelers reserve palazzo suites overlooking mask-lined canals.

The apartment is vast and full of character. There's everything you'll need for a comfortable Venice stay. Our host Luca was very attentive, welcoming and we want to come to this spot again!
Anna from Poland – 13 November 2024 (9/10)
Calm place, beyond the crazy crowds.
2 steps from both Biennale locations
Plenty of nice restaurants and coffee shops around and the owner being extra helpful.Helen from United Kingdom – 3 November 2024 (9/10)
The location was perfect and the accommodation quiet, comfortable and perfect in every way. Spacious and nice eating and dining area.
What could be improved: It was perfect.Bruno from Switzerland – 27 June 2024 (9/10)
great location in Venice, beautiful flat, great host
Thomas from Poland – 8 May 2024 (9/10)
The apartment is spacious and the kitchen well-equipped. The decor is somewhat dated, but that gave the apartment its charm. The bed in the main bedroom was very comfy. There were two smaller beds in the second room. The neighborhood is directly adjacent to the Bienniale sites (giardini, arsenal), but more importantly had a very "real venice" feel, with a small owner-owned shop across the way, an authentic trattoria (dai Tosi) 50 m away (meaning locals ate there), and a fine, more tourist-oriented, but very good trattoria right across the way. Short walk to via Garibaldi with all the shops and restaruants you could want, for less than closer to center (and much less crowded).
What could be improved: This is not site-specific, but heed this warning for all of Venice: trash pickup is daily, door to door. A man yells from the street that they are picking up rubbish. Check schedule in ktichen for details. A barge also collects rubbish (from the canal off Fondamenta S. Guiseppe (or S. Isepo – both names seem to be used) , but only in the early morning. Otherwise, you have to chase down somebody pushing a rubbish hand-cart, but these are all gone by late morning.
Also, TV in apartment is quite small.Marion from Switzerland – 14 April 2024 (9/10)
Fully equipped apartment in a great location, close to get groceries and to nice restaurants and great bars outside of purely touristic areas
What could be improved: A bit cold in spring, but can easily be fixed with warmer sweaters and socksPaul from Canada – 14 April 2024 (9/10)
No breakfast. Location was perfect in a quiet area but only 5 minute steps to a central area then on to the main walk. About 15 minutes walk to San Marco Piazza
What could be improved: NAKrishna from Spain – 6 July 2023 (9/10)
Good location
What could be improved: No corkscrew, considering a well equipped kitchen.Julie from United Kingdom – 28 May 2023 (9/10)
The flat is very spacious and in a great location, tucked out of the way of the busy streets and tourists but near to a lovely little canal, calm and pleasant park and a nearby street of shops and restaurants. The flat has everything that you need and Luca is a kind and caring host who checks that everything is OK while you are there. The price is excellent when compared to other places on the island. Transport link to the airport is a10 minute walk but the water bus service is just 5 minutes away. I would definitely come back here to stay.
Wolfgang from Germany – 17 May 2023 (9/10)
Host Luca kindly welcomed us at the Vaporotto (water bus) station, which is located near the accommodation. From the central railway station Santa Lucia you can go directly there.
The apartment is comfortably furnished in a rustic style and has everything you need for a pleasant stay with self-catering.
The location is great – quiet, but not far from the big promenade and Piazza San Marco.
A recommended accommodation for any stay in Venice.
