I got there in the late afternoon, dodging the usual evening traffic on the Ponte della Libertà bridge – yeah, that massive causeway that connects everything – and found parking right out front without much hassle, though spots can get tight during summer festivals. The building itself is this unassuming residential block, nothing flashy, but stepping inside felt like uncovering a hidden gem. The loft has that airy, open vibe with exposed beams and big windows letting in the golden Italian sunlight, and there’s this faint scent of fresh laundry mixed with whatever pasta sauce the neighbors were cooking – real life in Venice, not some sterile tourist trap.

What really won me over was how lived-in and practical it all is. The place is set up like a proper apartment, with a full kitchen where I whipped up breakfast from stuff I grabbed at the nearby Coop supermarket on Via Piave – it’s just a five-minute walk, and they have killer fresh mozzarella if you’re into that. The bedroom’s up in the loft area, sort of cozy but watch your head on those low ceilings if you’re tall like me; I bumped mine once or twice, but hey, it adds character. There’s reliable Wi-Fi, which actually held up during my Zoom calls, and the bathroom’s modern with a rain shower that beats the pants off some of those ancient setups on the islands. Noise-wise, it’s pretty quiet at night – Mestre isn’t buzzing like San Marco – though you might hear the occasional scooter zipping by on Via Verdi in the mornings. I mean, it’s not perfect; the air conditioning can be a bit finicky in peak July heat, and check-in was self-service with a code, which worked fine but felt a tad impersonal if you’re used to a smiling concierge. Still, for a 4-star spot with an 8.3 rating, it punches above its weight, especially when you factor in the balcony overlooking a little courtyard where locals chat over espresso – made me feel like I was actually living there, not just visiting.

Look, if you’re planning a Venice trip and want to skip the insane crowds and prices on the water, this loft is your smart bet. It’s close enough to hop over for day trips – I caught the vaporetto to Murano one morning and was back by lunch – but far enough to unwind in a more authentic neighborhood. Families or couples would love it for the space, and honestly, saving a bundle means more gelato money. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season when Mestre’s quieter and you can snag those cheap train tickets without the lines. Just pack light for the stairs – no elevator, but that’s Italy for you.

  Clean and tidy. Air conditioning. Facilities like washing machine & great kitchen utensils (pots / frypans) to make meals to eat in rather than out. There was a problem on check in and it was resolved quickly which we really appreciated.
  
  What could be improved: A blind / shutter in the bathroom would be excellent as this would reduce the heat that filled this space in the afternoon. Minor detail as if door closed it worked but was a sauna when opened.

  The terrace was nice. The room is very spacious. Self checkin and checkout was very handy. And there was a parking lot.
