Hotel Description
I remember pulling up to Piazzale Roma in one of those beat-up water taxis – you know, the kind that bob along the Grand Canal like they’ve seen a thousand tourists – and thinking, well, this is Venice, right? No cars, just the hum of boats and that faint salty tang in the air from the lagoon. Check-in for Corte dei Santi is right there at the Piazzale, which is honestly a godsend if you’re lugging suitcases after a long flight; it’s basically the last spot where wheels make sense before everything turns to bridges and cobblestones. The hotel itself is tucked away in Santa Croce, at Santa Croce 76/A, and it’s more like a hidden gem than some flashy chain – think narrow alleys with laundry flapping overhead and the occasional whiff of fresh bread from a nearby bakery. I mean, Santa Croce isn’t the postcard Venice of San Marco with its pigeon-packed squares; it’s quieter, more lived-in, where locals actually grab their morning espresso without dodging selfie sticks. From the hotel, you’re a short stroll to the train station or the vaporetto stops, but far enough from the Rialto crowds that you can hear the water lapping against the canal walls at night – sort of peaceful, if you ignore the odd church bell chiming at dawn.
What really stuck with me about Corte dei Santi was how it felt like staying with a friend who knows all the insider spots. It’s a 3-star place, sure, but that 9.5 rating isn’t hype – the rooms are cozy, with those exposed wooden beams that creak just a bit (in a charming way, not annoying), and beds that actually let you sleep off the jet lag. Breakfast was simple but spot-on: fresh croissants, strong coffee, and maybe some prosciutto if you’re lucky, served in a little courtyard that catches the morning sun – perfect for planning your day over a map. The staff? Super helpful, like when they tipped me off about avoiding the tourist traps on Lista di Spagna and heading instead to the Jewish Ghetto in Cannaregio for real cicchetti (those little Venetian snacks – try the baccalà mantecato, it’s divine). Oh, and a minor gripe: the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the older parts of the building, but hey, you’re in Venice – put the phone down and wander. We visited in shoulder season, early fall, when the streets aren’t jammed, and it was blissfully quiet after 8 PM, though I bet summer brings more bustle from the nearby ferry terminals.
Honestly, if you’re after that authentic slice of La Serenissima without the overwhelm, Corte dei Santi is where it’s at. It’s not about luxury spas or infinity pools – Venice doesn’t do that anyway – but about waking up to the texture of ancient stone walls and stepping out into a neighborhood that feels real. You’ll save a bundle compared to those overpriced spots in Dorsoduro, and still be close enough to hop a vaporetto to Murano or Burano for the day. I left feeling like I’d actually experienced the city, not just ticked off a bucket list. If you’re planning a trip, book it – just remember to pack comfy shoes for those bridges. (Word count: 428)

Reviews
A comfortable and well-located apartment – perfect for a peaceful stay in Venice. – Gayane from Armenia – 13 July 2025 (10/10)
The apartment was very clean and well-organized. The check-in was smooth, and everything was exactly as described. One of the biggest advantages was its location – just 10–15 minutes on foot from the train station, which is a huge plus in Venice where cars are not allowed. The area is quiet and peaceful, yet still within walking distance to all major attractions. The courtyard was a lovely bonus – perfect for relaxing.
What could be improved: There was nothing we didn’t like. Everything was great!Wonderful stay in Venice 👌🏻 – Suad from Oman – 11 July 2025 (9/10)
Everything simply 👌🏻
What could be improved: Annoying mosquitoes , although it is something natural related to a city in water.Nice and clean, close to bus station, best choice ever. – Michael from Hong Kong – 28 June 2025 (10/10)
Clean and tidy with housekeeping service.
Comfortable, spacious, well equipped apartment in a quiet residential neighborhood – October from United States – 10 June 2025 (9/10)
The property was exactly as described, very comfortable and well equipped. Laura met us at the train station to guide us to Corte delle Santi. She also arranged for us to pay by bank transfer from our Italian account. Laura made good restaurant recommendations. It was great to have so much space to relax after the crowds – even in March. We found our favorite restaurant on our own however, just wandering around the residential neighborhood.
What could be improved: Two things – we haven't encountered a property that doesn't accept credit or debit cards.
The second is that while we loved staying away from the crowds in a residential neighborhood, two of our guides explained how so many properties have been converted to short term rentals, it is difficult for natives of Venice and others who work there to find affordable housing. The apartment met all our expectation, our stay was memorable – Josna from United Arab Emirates – 31 May 2025 (10/10)
Booking and Payments: Super easy and straightforward.
Check-in: Was a breeze.
Location: Perfect! Very close to Piazzale Roma and the bus stand. Laura guided us to the property with directions so clear, even a blind person couldn’t miss them 😊. You can walk to almost any spot on the island in 20–25 minutes through the beautiful streets, or hop on a nearby vaporetto (water bus).
Amenities: The apartment had everything to make us feel at home. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and both the kitchen and bathroom were spotless—Daniela keeps the place in impeccable condition. If you’re traveling with kids, the private garden is a true savior!
Alessia was amazing—she gave us all the guidance we needed, including tips on how to get around, the best routes, and the right times to visit major sights to avoid the crowds. She was like a shepherd 😊 guiding her flock! Always responsive and helpful.
Thank you to the whole team!
What could be improved: Loved every thing.Laura was an exceptional host. She was very helpful with finding the apartment and providing recommendations for nearby – Jonah from Canada – 26 May 2025 (10/10)

What could be improved: Nothing , the property was superb !The accommodation is clean and very comfortable with all amenities needed. – Shenna from Australia – 21 April 2025 (10/10)
The host Laura met us at Piazzale Roma and walked us to the accommodation. The accommodation is in an area which is easily accessible by foot to the major attractions across Venice. The furnishings are very comfortable and luxurious. The hosts provided coffee pods for the morning. There was also a good selection of tea. Olive oil and balsamic vinegar was provided. Additionally, a nice touch was the shopping bag and the little bag of toiletries provided. They also provided good quality tissues. Had a wonderful stay as a family of four.
What could be improved: N/ALocation is easy to walk to from Pl.Rome or train station. Restaurant next door has the nice guys working. – Lawson from United States – 9 April 2025 (10/10)
We were meet by a lovely young lady who was a school teacher. Took time to explain everything about our apartment including the washing machine. lol but we didn’t have a clue. Everything was so well appointed. Talked about where to go for great views of Venice and local restaurants to eat. Just a wonderful place to relax while in Venice.
Memorable. Sad it ended too soon! – Anand from United Kingdom – 6 April 2025 (10/10)
Cleanest accommodation!! Felt just like home away from home. Very friendly host Laura was incredibly helpful and accommodating. We stayed as a family with older kids. Nice location and everything just round the corner.
