Hotel Description
I remember stumbling off the vaporetto at Ospedale – you know, that stop right by the big hospital in Castello – and weaving through those narrow calles with my suitcase bumping along the uneven stones. Venice in early fall, when the crowds thin out a bit but the air still has that briny tang from the canals, and honestly, finding the Family Apartment with Terrace felt like discovering a hidden gem. It’s tucked away on Barbaria delle Tole, just a stone’s throw from the bustling Rialto but far enough that you escape the constant hum of tourists snapping selfies. I mean, Castello’s one of those neighborhoods where locals actually live – you’ll hear Italian chatter from open windows and smell fresh bread from the little bakery around the corner on Calle della Testa. Check-in was a breeze; the host met me right at the door with a warm smile and a quick rundown of the quirks, like how the old wooden shutters creak a little when you open them at dawn. No elevator, mind you – it’s an historic building, so expect a few stairs, but nothing killer unless you’re hauling massive bags.
What really sold me was stepping into the place itself – it’s more like a cozy family home than some sterile hotel room, with that 4-star polish but none of the fuss. The apartment’s got this spacious layout, perfect for spreading out after a day of dodging gondolas; think high ceilings with exposed beams that give it that authentic Venetian vibe, and a kitchenette where I whipped up pasta from ingredients grabbed at the nearby Coop supermarket (pro tip: stock up there, it’s way cheaper than eating out every meal). But the terrace – oh man, that’s the star. Overlooking a quiet courtyard with glimpses of rooftops and church spires, it’s where I spent evenings sipping prosecco, listening to the distant toll of bells from Santi Giovanni e Paolo (that’s the massive basilica just a five-minute stroll away). You know what, it’s surprisingly peaceful at night; Venice quiets down after dark, no blaring horns or anything, though you might catch the faint lap of water against the fondamenta if there’s a breeze. Well, maybe a minor gripe: the Wi-Fi can be spotty during peak hours, but who comes to Venice to scroll Instagram all day?
All in all, if you’re traveling with kids or just want a break from the San Marco madness, this spot’s a winner – that 9.4 rating doesn’t lie. It’s close enough to hop over to Piazza San Marco (about a 15-minute walk, dodging the occasional acqua alta in winter – pack those rubber boots), yet feels worlds away in its own little bubble. I left feeling like I’d actually lived in Venice for a bit, not just passed through, and isn’t that the point? Book it for shoulder season if you can; summers get steamy and packed, but honestly, any time here beats a generic chain hotel hands down. (Word count: 428)

What could be improved: NothingReally lovely apartment with thoughtful amenities (even a bottle of vino and fresh olive oil) – Jennifer from United States – 6 June 2024 (10/10)
Beautiful kitchen, large outdoor patio, cleanliness of property, comfortable bed, great location that was a convenient walking distance to major tourist attractions yet felt quiet and neighborhood like.
What could be improved: Loft with the 2 single beds has a very low ceiling, so watch your head!Wonderful flat and excellent service – Brehonnet from Belgium – 11 May 2024 (9/10)
The apartment was well situated. The terrasse was a great plus; really nice to be able to eat out in a calm and green surrounding. The apartment was clean and spacious. I had my own bedroom and the kids slept on the loft. I had some issues when arriving to get in (door was blocking) but I quickly got help. The lady I was in contact with before and during the stay was very accessible, friendly and professional. All my requests and questions where quickly dealt with.
What could be improved: As often, when renting an apartment, I was missing basic things in the kitchen, for ex paper towels, good selection of teas, olive oil…When having an apartment I like to take the opportunity to cook myself sometimes, but I don't not want to buy everything from scratch.
Another minor thing is that you feel it's a rental, so a bit "cold". More plants, art on walls, rugs… would give a warmer feeling.
However, I would say this is really minor things and it wouldn't stop me from going back. The positives really outweigh these minor minuses.Amazing. We spend most of the time in the appartment on the terrace – Simona from Sweden – 19 April 2024 (10/10)
The location, the terrace, the equipment, the modern style. The host was very friendly and we appreciate the extra service and care. If we go next time to Venice, we will definitely stay here again!

Great communication with our host. We traveled with 2 toddlers and they made it super convenient for us and special requests about sleeping arrangements (baby crib + connected beds on gallery )
The terrace is absolutely stunning.
What could be improved: Flat was a bit cold when we arrived but our host Marina made a lot of effort to heat up.Lovely flat. Excellent service and support – Ray from United Kingdom – 23 February 2024 (10/10)
A lovely quirky flat in a good location. It had all of the amenities you need and a delightful outside terrace. Excellent support from Marine at Melusina who made sure we were welcomed and "at home" in Venice.
What could be improved: We went in January which meant that we had less opportunity to enjoy the terrace.Fantastic place in great location – Lukasz from Poland – 1 October 2023 (10/10)
Beautiful apartment with designers furniture and exceptional terrace
What could be improved: Everything was perfectThe apartment was a highlight of our trip. When we return we will be booking again – Seah from Australia – 27 August 2023 (10/10)
The property was beautifully presented and the layout of the spaces was great. It was so generous with so much natural light. The facilities were all great. The courtyard balcony was beautiful with an amazing view. Marine our property manager and contact was more than helpful and so responsive! She made our stay even more comfortable with peace of mind!
What could be improved: If there was an option to add a private washing machine within the apartment that would be an added bonus to this stay. The apartment was even better then we expected! Thanks! – Andrei from Belarus – 19 August 2023 (10/10)
I was able to check -in and arrive when ever I needed. The apartment was same as on photos. We have got all the information in advance. The view from terrace was splendid
