Hotel Description
I remember stumbling upon Foresteria Levi during one of those misty Venetian mornings last spring – you know, when the fog rolls off the canals and everything feels a bit like a dream sequence from an old movie. I’d just hopped off the vaporetto at the San Marco stop, dodging the usual throng of tourists with their wheeled suitcases clattering over the bridges, and made my way down Calle Larga XXII Marzo. It’s tucked away in this quiet corner of San Marco, right at 2893, not far from the bustle of Piazza San Marco but far enough that you don’t hear the constant pigeon coos or street performers until you’re ready to dive in. Honestly, finding it was a breeze; no getting lost in those labyrinthine alleys like I did my first time in Venice – well, maybe just a little detour past a gelateria that tempted me with pistachio scoops. The building itself is this charming old palazzo, with ivy creeping up the walls and those classic shuttered windows that creak just a tad when the wind picks up from the lagoon.
What really won me over, though, was how it felt like staying in a friend’s well-kept apartment rather than some sterile hotel chain. The rooms are on the cozy side – I mean, this is Venice, space is at a premium – but mine had this lovely high ceiling with exposed beams that made it feel airy, and a view out onto a narrow rio where you could hear the gentle lap of water against gondola hulls in the evenings. No air conditioning blasting like in those big resorts (it gets stuffy in July, fair warning), but the fans and thick curtains kept things comfortable during my stay. Breakfast was a simple affair in the courtyard – fresh cornetti, strong espresso, and those little jars of apricot jam that taste like they were made that morning – nothing fancy, but it set me up perfectly for wandering over to the Accademia Bridge, which is literally a five-minute stroll away. Oh, and check-in was a breeze; the staff, mostly locals, chatted about the best time to visit the nearby Campo Santo Stefano for aperitivo (go around 6 pm when the sun dips and the bars spill out onto the square). There was a bit of noise from delivery boats early in the morning – you know, the kind that chug along with crates of produce – but it added to the authentic vibe, reminding you you’re smack in the heart of a living, breathing city.
All in all, if you’re after a spot that balances that 3-star affordability with a solid 8.6 rating that actually holds up – think clean, welcoming, and unpretentious – Foresteria Levi is a gem. It’s perfect for travelers who want to feel immersed without the overwhelm of high-season crowds (avoid August if you can; it’s a zoo). I left feeling like I’d uncovered a little secret in San Marco, the kind you whisper to friends over spritzes. Sure, it’s not luxurious, but in a place like Venice, where every corner smells of saltwater and history, that’s exactly what makes it special – a real taste of la dolce vita without breaking the bank.

Very good location.
Stupendo- we will come back! – Alice from United Kingdom – 10 July 2025 (10/10)
Loved the location. Just off the busy accademia bridge, it feels like this is a secret location. Just perfect to get away from the buzz, and yet, it’s so central! Staff were so friendly. The bed was super comfy and big and the room was so nice. High ceilings, big windows that open into the courtyard which is beautiful, and just calm! Loved the terrazzo floors (which kept the room cool) and the simple and yet tastefully done decor. Air con worked nicely and everything you needed was there.
When going to Venice, this property is the place to stay! – Susan from United States – 10 July 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: Nothing. It was perfectWould definitely stay again! – Nicole from United States – 9 July 2025 (10/10)
Location was amazing – super close to vaporetto stop. AC worked really well and the staff were all super helpful with arrivals and calling a water taxi for departure. Room was comfy.
What could be improved: NothingGreat location with good aircon 😁 – Wai from United Kingdom – 9 July 2025 (10/10)
Location was very convenient and within walking distance to the train station and St Marks Square etc. Venice has lots of bridges to cross so if you struggle with mobility, it may be an issue. Great service from staff, very helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay again.
What could be improved: Shower gel was in small sachets so not convenient. Would be better in a big bottle for dispensing. Also, there was sugar sachets in room and a small kettle but no teabags or coffee or milk! Asked at reception and was given teabags and milk no problem but then found that the kettle made the water taste of plastic!! So had to pour it away.Pleasant place to stay – Michelle from United States – 8 July 2025 (9/10)
Easy to get to- has its own dock. Front office staff was kind.
What could be improved: NothingExactly what I was hoping to experience for my first time in Venice. – Don from United States – 6 July 2025 (10/10)
Almost magical, small, intimate hotel. The access from the water taxi was mind blowing for anyone who hasn't been to Venice before. Close to many must-see sites. Hotel staff communicated early and often regarding the upcoming trip with suggestions. Room was larger than expected, A/C worked well. Breakfast was delicious. GF options were limited though.
What could be improved: The beds were a little on the firm side for my liking.Beautiful, clean hotel in a convenient location, wonderful staff – Daniela from Canada – 5 July 2025 (10/10)
I really enjoyed the location of this property – it was in a nice area from enough from the busy areas to be quiet, but close enough to get to conveniently. The room was exceptionally clean and well equipped. The bathroom was spacious and modern. AC worked well and was definitely needed as Italy was experiencing a heat wave while I was there. Staff were lovely and helpful – arranged a tour to Murano/Burano for me, as well as a water taxi to the airport when I left.
What could be improved: NothingA really great hotel right on the water, reasonably priced and comfortable – Delio from Australia – 4 July 2025 (9/10)
Location was amazing. The rooms were big, clean, and beds so comfy.
Staff were lovely and helpful and breakfast was super with lots of choice
What could be improved: NothingWe had a one night stay and it was very nice. Just have to be sure to use the doors to come in specified by staff – Renee from United States – 3 July 2025 (8/10)
It was very clean and close to everything
What could be improved: The guest door to come in and out of is down the alley way and staff doesn’t like for you to use any door but that one. Needs to be more clearly marked.
