Hotel Description

I remember stumbling upon Giorgiapartaments Black Exclusive during one of those whirlwind trips to Venice last fall – you know, when the crowds thin out a bit after summer but the air still has that crisp, salty tang from the canals. It’s tucked away on Calle de la Vida in San Polo, right in the heart of things but not smack in the tourist chaos. Honestly, finding it was a bit of a treasure hunt; I got off the vaporetto at San Silvestro and wandered down those narrow calli, dodging the occasional delivery cart loaded with fresh produce for the nearby Rialto market. The address is 2389 Calle de la Vida, and let me tell you, in Venice, where streets twist like spaghetti, having a good map app is a lifesaver – but once you’re there, it’s this sleek, modern building that sort of surprises you amid all the ancient stone facades. Check-in was a breeze; the host met me at the door with a warm “buongiorno” and a quick rundown of the Wi-Fi code and where to grab the best cicchetti nearby. No massive lobby or anything – it’s more like arriving at a friend’s upscale apartment, which fits the vibe perfectly since these are self-catering spots. I mean, with a 4-star rating and an 8.6 from folks who’ve stayed, it’s clear they’re doing something right, but it’s the little things, like the fresh linen smell in the entryway, that make you feel settled right away.

What really sets Giorgiapartaments Black Exclusive apart, though – well, besides the name that’s a mouthful – is how it balances that exclusive feel without being stuffy. My apartment had these high ceilings and black accents everywhere (hence the name, I suppose), with a kitchenette stocked just enough for whipping up a quick pasta after a day of exploring. The bed was plush, like sinking into a cloud after pounding the pavements, and the bathroom? Spotless, with one of those rain showers that make you linger a little too long in the morning. It’s in San Polo, so you’re steps from hidden gems like Campo San Polo, where locals play soccer in the evenings and you can hear the laughter echoing off the walls – a nice break from the pigeon-filled San Marco square. Noise-wise, it’s pretty quiet at night; the calle isn’t a main thoroughfare, so no constant gondola serenades keeping you up, though you might catch the faint bell tolls from nearby churches, which I actually found charming. Parking? Forget it – this is Venice, so leave the car in Mestre and embrace the water taxis. One minor gripe: the air conditioning can be a tad finicky in peak heat, but nothing a quick call to the host couldn’t fix. And oh, the views – not full-on canal glamour, but peeking out over rooftops with that golden-hour light filtering in, it feels authentically Venetian, you know?

All in all, if you’re the type who wants more than a cookie-cutter hotel room – maybe you’re traveling with a partner or small group and crave that homey independence – this place is a solid pick. It’s not the cheapest, but for the location and that 8.6 rating, it’s worth it, especially off-season when Venice feels more like yours. I’d go back in a heartbeat; just pack light, watch your step on those uneven stones, and don’t miss the fresh seafood at the Rialto stalls – pair it with a spritz on your private balcony, and you’ve got magic.

Reviews

  • Exceptional – Michael from United States – 16 April 2025 (10/10)

The rental was centrally located, only a 10 minute walk to the train or bus station (bus for airport). It only took 15-30 minutes or so to walk most points of interest. There are many eateries, bakeries, and shopping was very close. We liked the feel of the place as we wanted the local vibe.

  • Fantastic location and had everything we needed for our time in Venice – Liz from Australia – 22 October 2024 (9/10)

The location was great, away from the touristy parts of Venice but only a 10-15 min walk from all the main sights.
The apartment was great, huge bathroom!

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • A holiday to remember – Nattress from United Kingdom – 3 October 2024 (10/10)

The hot tub an sauna were a bonus. We cooked at least once a day.

What could be improved: Absolutely nothing

  • Nice apartment in convenient location for a short stay in Venice. – Natalie from United States – 23 September 2024 (9/10)

Clean, well stocked apartment with hot shower and spacious countertop space with double sinks. Close location to restaurants and shops.

What could be improved: It would have been even better if the hot tub and sauna were included in booking costs, but the host explained the reasoning behind the separate fee for cleaning purposes.

  • Very good – Mark from Ireland – 24 August 2024 (8/10)

  • Loved our stay – Nikki from United States – 22 July 2024 (10/10)

Georgia's apartment was only a 10 minute walk from the train station. It was central to everything which we loved. The apartment was very clean, spacious and had everything we needed. Georgia was very accommodating. When all the trains coming into Venice were delayed she was so kind and flexible. She gave us great recommendations for restaurants and they were great. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

    Friendly and comfortable

  • Loved this booking, would recommend and stay again. – Kelly from United States – 13 June 2024 (9/10)

The location was excellent. The size of the room was very spacious and clean. The jacuzzi tub was plenty big for two and the sauna was relaxing.

    What could be improved: The bathroom amenities were amazing all but the shower. It was a must to mop the floor every time the shower was used. The shower had 3 walls, but the head faced the area with no wall. Impossible to shower without soaking the entire bathroom floor. Thankful the unit had a mop! (-;

  • Spacious and comfortable apartment. – Anna from Ireland – 4 June 2024 (9/10)
