Grimaldi Apartments Cannaregio Overview
First Impressions
When I first heard about Grimaldi Apartments Cannaregio, I’ll admit I was curious about how apartment-style accommodations would work in Venice’s maze of canals and bridges. What I discovered was something that honestly feels more authentic than your typical hotel experience — you’re not just visiting Venice, you’re actually living in it for a few days. The properties are scattered throughout different locations in the city center, which initially seemed like it might be confusing, but it actually works in your favor since each spot puts you right in the heart of genuine Venetian neighborhoods.
Location & Neighborhood
Cannaregio is where Venetians actually live, and that makes all the difference. You know how some areas feel completely overrun by tourists? Well, this four-star property places you in spots where you’ll see locals heading to work in the morning and kids playing in the campos. The location score of 9.5 isn’t just marketing fluff — I mean, you’re walking distance from the train station (super helpful with luggage), but also tucked into quiet residential streets where you can hear church bells instead of constant chatter from tour groups. Couples especially seem to get this — they’ve rated the location 9.3, and I can see why since there’s something romantic about having your own little Venetian address, even temporarily.
The Apartment Experience
What sets Grimaldi Apartments Cannaregio apart is the space and independence you get. Instead of a cramped hotel room, you’re looking at actual apartments with kitchens, separate living areas, and — this is key in Venice — room to spread out your stuff. After days of walking on uneven stones and navigating crowds, having a proper living space to decompress in feels like such a relief. The apartments vary since they’re in different buildings, but they maintain a consistent standard that feels both comfortable and authentically Venetian, with those high ceilings and period details you’d expect.
Practical Perks
Having a kitchen changes your Venice experience completely. You can grab fresh ingredients from the Rialto market (just a pleasant walk away) or pick up wine and cicchetti to enjoy at home. There’s something special about making morning coffee in your own Venetian kitchen before heading out to explore — it makes the whole trip feel less rushed and more immersive. The different locations also mean you might end up discovering a neighborhood you wouldn’t have otherwise explored, which honestly adds an element of adventure to your stay.
Why Guests Love It
The combination of prime location, authentic atmosphere, and practical comfort is what really wins people over. You’re not dealing with hotel breakfast schedules or fighting for lobby space — you’ve got your own rhythm in your own temporary Venetian home. The fact that couples rate it so highly tells you something about the romantic appeal of having your own little corner of Venice, complete with the privacy and space that regular hotels just can’t match. It’s upscale enough to feel special, but grounded enough to feel real, which is exactly what you want in a city that can sometimes feel like a beautiful museum.

Well-positioned in a lovely part of Venice. Close to a vaporetto stop, which gives easy access to the Grand Canal and all of the sights. Plenty of shops and sights within walking distance. Lovely, clean property with great facilities.
What could be improved: Close to the casino, which may mean some noise on weekend nights. Otherwise this is a quiet place to stay.Leona from Ireland – 27 June 2024 (9/10)
Everything was excellent about this property. Kitchen was equipped with everything you could need. Host left some treats on arrival for us. Apartment was spotless. Location was great. 20 mins or so walk to all major attractions. Area was quiet but in 2-3 minutes you could be in a lively area. Apt overlooked a canal. Host stayed in contact with us throughout our stay and was wonderfully helpful. Highly recommend this apartment and host.
