Hotel Description
I’ve gotta say, stumbling upon Hotel Agli Alboretti in Venice’s Dorsoduro district felt like uncovering a little secret – you know, the kind that’s tucked away from the tourist hordes but close enough to everything that matters. I arrived by vaporetto from Santa Lucia station, hopping off at the Accademia stop, and it was just a quick wander down Rio Terà Antonio Foscarini – honestly, that narrow street with its old stone walls and occasional glimpse of a hidden garden made the walk feel more like a prelude to an adventure than a chore. The hotel itself is this unassuming three-story spot, painted in that faded terracotta you see all over Venice, right by the bridge over Rio San Trovaso. No grand lobby or anything flashy – it’s 3-star, after all – but the check-in was a breeze, with the front desk guy (Marco, I think?) chatting about the best time to hit the nearby squero (that’s one of those traditional gondola workshops, if you’re not up on your Venetian lingo) without the crowds. I mean, it’s not silent at night – you might hear the odd boat horn from the canal or laughter from a nearby osteria – but compared to the buzz around San Marco, it’s blissfully quiet, especially in the shoulder seasons like early May when I was there.
What really won me over, though, was how the place blends that old-world Venetian charm with just enough modern comforts to keep things practical. My room overlooked a tiny courtyard – nothing fancy, but the morning light filtering through those lace curtains and the faint scent of espresso from downstairs was pure magic. The beds are firm but comfy, with those heavy wooden headboards that creak a bit (a minor gripe, but hey, it adds character), and the bathroom’s compact – think classic marble tiles and a shower that actually has decent pressure, which isn’t always a given in these historic buildings. Breakfast is served in this cozy garden patio out back, weather permitting – fresh cornetti, yogurt, and that strong Italian coffee, plus some seasonal fruits from the Rialto market if you’re lucky. It’s not a huge spread, but it’s included and sets you up nicely for a day exploring. I wandered over to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection just a five-minute stroll away, or along the Zattere promenade for sunset views over the Giudecca Canal – and coming back to the hotel felt like returning to a friend’s place, you know? They even have a small library with books on Venice history, which I flipped through one rainy afternoon – sort of a thoughtful touch that makes you linger.
Look, if you’re after five-star glitz or all-night parties, this isn’t your spot – Venice has plenty of those elsewhere. But for a genuine slice of the city, Hotel Agli Alboretti nails it with its 8.9 rating that’s well-earned through solid value and that intangible warmth. It’s perfect for couples or solo travelers who want to feel immersed without the overwhelm – well, parking’s a non-issue since cars are banned here anyway, but getting around on foot or by boat is effortless from this location. I left thinking, yeah, I’d book it again in a heartbeat, especially off-peak when rates dip and the neighborhood’s even more serene. If you’re plotting a Venice trip, give this one a shot – it’s the kind of place that sticks with you, long after the gondola rides fade.

Exceptional – Karen from Canada – 12 July 2025 (10/10)
The location of the Hotel Agli Alboretti is ideal. It’s on a quiet tree-lined street between 2 vaporetto stops so it’s easy to get anywhere you need to go. There are lots of great restaurants and shops in the area and its an easy walk to St. Mark’s, Rialto, etc. The continental breakfast has lots of options and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the covered patio area. There is a terrace on the 4th floor overlooking the street below – a great place to have a glass of wine at the end of the day. Last, but not least, the staff was absolutely amazing – so friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again.
Excellent! – Christy from United Kingdom – 12 July 2025 (8/10)
The location is excellent; next to the Accademia and close to the Guggenheim. Very short walk to Accademia vaporetto. Staff are kind, helpful and very welcoming. A safe place for a solo female traveler.
Genuine hospitality in an authentically Venetian hotel away from the craziness. – Kate from Australia – 11 July 2025 (9/10)
This is a really lovely small hotel in a quiet part of Venice. 24 hour reception staffed by friendly, helpful people was lovely and the breakfast in a leafy courtyard was excellent. Lots of restaurants and bars nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
I wish I stayed longer! – Jack from United Kingdom – 4 July 2025 (9/10)
As a return guest, it was great to see hotel has been very well kept and improved – our room was freshly renovated with new bathroom, very clean and tidy everywhere. Quiet and comfortable bedroom.
The location is fantastic, and having a roof terrace and outdoor breakfast space here feels so luxurious.
A friendly buongiorno or buonasera every time you pass the reception staff.
Good cold breakfast selection and the attentive staff asked for coffee orders as soon as you arrive.
I look forward to staying yet again!
What could be improved: The terrace was popular in the evenings – maybe more seating if it can fit!Agli Alboretti perfect location and great hotel – William from United Kingdom – 3 July 2025 (10/10)
The location of hotel was perfect and the staff couldn't be anymore helpful! Beds were comfy and air conditioning was just great after coming in from 35° heat and not a breeze! I dont have 1 complaint and will definitely be booking again next time i come to venice

The friendly and helpful staff was great
The location is perfect. Staying on the “other side” of the grand canal is much preferred. the crowds are 75% less. The authentic Venice you are looking for is right here but a bridge or short valparetto puts you in the “must sees” in minutes. Loved the private balcony and the serenade of the lone accordion player in the evening and early AM.
What could be improved: A little dated but really part of the charm. The AC was a little below my comfort zone. But it will do.Lovely boutique hotel, central yet quiet, with excellent restaurant! – Anne from United States – 2 July 2025 (9/10)
Excellent, quiet location on Dorsoduro, across from Accademia. Nice, comfortable rooms, excellent restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Friendly, helpful staff. This was our third stay in this lovely hotel. We will come back!
Family friendly hotel in Dorsoduro – Colleen from United States – 1 July 2025 (10/10)
Lovely small hotel in a fantastic location only 2 minutes' walk from the Accademia vaporetto stop. Ice cold AC kept steamy nights comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful, and breakfast in the courtyard was a wonderful way to start the day. (Excellent cappuccino, but beware the mosquitoes outdoors!)
What could be improved: Nothing – great experience!Charming hotel and staff in a great location! – Alexis from United States – 30 June 2025 (10/10)
A great room in a great location! Breakfast was great as well. Staff was very helpful, especially helping us find the best way to the airport. It’s a little pricey, but I think that’s just Venice.
We enjoyed our stay in the hotel. The staffs were very nice and considerate, the location is fantastic. We like the brea – Su from China – 26 June 2025 (9/10)
Great location, few minutes walk to the water bus stop, very close to Gallerie dell'Accademia, not far from Piazza San Macro while much more quite
What could be improved: The facility is a little bit old but the room is very tide and clean
