Hotel Description
I remember stumbling upon Hotel Cannaregio 2357 after a long vaporetto ride from the airport – you know, the kind where you’re dodging tourists and their luggage on the No. 5.1 line, finally hopping off at Ca’ d’Oro and weaving through those narrow calli in Cannaregio. It’s tucked right on Cannaregio 2357, just off the Fondamenta della Misericordia, which is honestly one of the best spots in Venice if you’re looking to escape the San Marco madness. I mean, this neighborhood feels like real Venice – locals chatting in dialect outside their doors, the faint smell of fresh bread from that little bakery around the corner on Rio Terà San Leonardo, and none of that overwhelming canal stink you get in busier areas. The building itself is this charming old palazzo, three stars but with way more character than you’d expect; think exposed wooden beams and those creaky floors that whisper stories from centuries ago. Check-in was a breeze – the front desk guy, Marco (or was it Matteo?), handed over the key with a genuine smile and a tip about avoiding the crowds by heading to the Jewish Ghetto for sunset. No fuss, no long lines, which is a godsend after traveling all day.
What really won me over, though, was how the place balances that old-world vibe with just enough modern comforts to make you feel at home. My room overlooked a quiet side canal – well, quiet except for the occasional gondolier humming in the distance, which actually added to the charm rather than annoying me. The bed was firm but comfy, with crisp linens that smelled faintly of lavender (they must use some local detergent), and the bathroom, while compact like most in Venice, had a rain shower that worked wonders after pounding the pavements. Breakfast is included, and it’s no frills but solid – fresh croissants, decent espresso, and those little jars of apricot jam that taste homemade. I appreciated the free Wi-Fi that didn’t glitch out, unlike some spots I’ve stayed in further south. Oh, and if you’re into exploring, it’s a quick 10-minute stroll to the Strada Nova for shopping or grabbing a spritz at a bacaro – try Al Timon if you want authentic cicchetti without the tourist prices. One minor gripe? The air conditioning can be a bit noisy in summer, but hey, it’s Venice in July; you’re not here for silence anyway. Off-season, like in November, it’s blissfully peaceful, with misty mornings and hardly anyone around.
Honestly, if you’re the type who wants to experience Venice without the selfie-stick hordes, this is your spot. It’s got that 8.6 rating for a reason – affordable (rooms start around €100 off-peak), authentic, and perfectly positioned for day trips to Murano or just wandering the sestiere. I’ve stayed in fancier places, but this one felt like a secret find, you know? Next time I’m in town, I’m booking it again – maybe even splurging on the canal-view upgrade.

Great value for money in Venice, clean, perfect location and super friendly staff.
What could be improved: Rooms were very small and no mosquito nets or anything at the windows – that would be really nice, because there are a lot of mosquitos 😀Thao from United Kingdom – 26 March 2025 (9/10)
Perfect location, close to Santa Lucia station and in a quiet area just off the main street and not too far from Piazzo San Marco. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. Their restaurant suggestions were great! The only thing I would pick out was that the shower water pressure wasn’t as strong as I would have liked but other than that, it was very comfortable and clean. I would 100% stay again and recommend.

Convenient location, helpful staff, good breakfast, comfortable bed, warm and plenty places to dry wet clothes.
What could be improved: Small room could be a little difficult to monover, bathroom was a good size though.Lai from United Kingdom – 13 March 2025 (9/10)

Literally 15 minutes away from Pizzale Roma. Late self check-in with no issues, nice and smooth. The room is great for solo travelers — comfy bed, coffeemaker, everyday cleaning, very warm temperature in the middle of February.
The staff is friendly and hospitable — got answers for all the questions that appeared.
What could be improved: There are not enough shelves in the room for things. The rack with hangers is too close to the bed — I hit my little finger on it several times.Fraser from United Kingdom – 8 February 2025 (8/10)
Great little very straightforward hotel in an excellent location. Been twice and will go again
What could be improved: Shower needs a bit of TLC but it works and was absolutely fineAmanda from United Kingdom – 5 February 2025 (9/10)

Room service and cleaning everyday is amazing. It was great to get on clean bed every night. Staff is so kind, helpful and positive. Especially Gaia helped us alot with everything and Francesca with our check in process.
What could be improved: Only if I must say something: i would be happy with an elevator
