Hotel Description
I remember stumbling upon Hotel Concordia during my last trip to Venice – it was one of those rainy afternoons in late fall when the city’s usual chaos feels a bit more poetic, you know? I’d just hopped off the vaporetto at San Marco Vallaresso, dodging the crowds spilling out from Piazza San Marco, and there it was, tucked right on Calle Larga, this narrow little street that’s basically an extension of the square itself. No need to lug your bags far; it’s literally steps from the basilica’s bells – which, honestly, chime so beautifully in the mornings but might wake you if you’re a light sleeper. The building’s got that classic Venetian vibe, with its faded pink facade and wrought-iron balconies overlooking the bustle below. I mean, Venice hotels can feel crammed into these ancient palazzos, and this one’s no exception – the entrance is unassuming, almost hidden among the mask shops and gelaterias, but once you’re inside, it opens up into this warm, old-world lobby with polished marble floors that echo your footsteps and these massive chandeliers that sort of drip with crystal. Check-in was a breeze; the staff – mostly locals who speak flawless English – handed me a map with handwritten notes on avoiding the tourist traps around Rialto Bridge, which is just a quick 10-minute stroll away across the Grand Canal. Oh, and pro tip: if you’re arriving by water taxi from Marco Polo Airport, tell them to drop you at the San Marco pier – it’s pricey, but way easier than schlepping from the train station with luggage over those bridges.
What really sold me on the place, though, was how it balances that historic charm without feeling stuffy. My room – a superior double, I think – overlooked the side calle, so it was quieter than you’d expect in such a central spot, away from the main square’s evening violinists and all that. The decor’s all rich reds and golds, with heavy drapes that block out the light (perfect for jet lag), and the bed was ridiculously comfortable, like sinking into a cloud after a day of wandering. Breakfast is included, served in this sunny courtyard – well, it’s more of a glass-roofed atrium that smells faintly of fresh espresso and croissants, with a spread of local cheeses, prosciutto, and those tiny Venetian pastries that are basically sugar bombs. Not gourmet or anything, but solid and satisfying, especially if you grab a table early before the tour groups descend. The hotel’s got four stars, and it earns them with little touches like free Wi-Fi that actually works (a rarity in these old buildings) and a bar that’s open late for a nightcap – try the spritz, it’s spot-on. That said, rooms can feel a tad snug if you’re used to American sizes, and the elevator’s one of those vintage ones that fits maybe two people and a suitcase – fine for most, but pack light. Noise-wise, San Marco’s alive until midnight in summer, with the hum of gondola serenades drifting up, but it quiets down off-season, making it ideal for a peaceful winter escape.
Look, if you’re eyeing Venice and want to be smack in the heart of it without the overwhelming frenzy – like, you can pop out to Doge’s Palace before the lines form or snag a quiet coffee at a café on Campo San Moisè just around the corner – Hotel Concordia’s a gem. It’s not the flashiest spot (rating’s a solid 8.4 for a reason; it’s reliable, not revolutionary), but it feels authentic, like staying in a piece of the city’s history. I’ve been back twice now, and each time, it just fits – comfortable, unpretentious, and perfectly positioned for those spontaneous moments that make Venice magical. If you’re traveling solo or as a couple, go for it; families might want more space elsewhere. Either way, book ahead, especially in high season – you won’t regret waking up to those bells.

We felt overcharged for coffee and a croissant.

This hotel boasts an ideal location, making it the perfect choice for a short stay. I was impressed by the spotless cleanliness, the warm and welcoming staff, and the unbeatable location. A true gem in the heart of Venice's historic center, highly recommended!
What could be improved: What I didn’t like was my stay being too short. Next time, I’ll stay longer. I really enjoyed the place!Pamela from United Kingdom – 24 March 2025 (9/10)

The staff were amazing. The location was central to everything. The room was clean and the shower had great water pressure. Enjoyed our time here greatly
What could be improved: It's not a deal breaker but because it's so close to everything you do hear the bells every hour. Also I would pay extra for the breakfast option, the food was good but limited.Maria from Bulgaria – 19 March 2025 (9/10)
The location was perfect and we didn't hear any noise in the evening despite being surrounded by tourists.
What could be improved: The room is small but very good ordered and comfortable so it contains everything that you could need.Eljona from Albania – 19 March 2025 (9/10)

Nice location, will definitely return to Venice, so much to see and little time. Disagree with some comments about being noisy, our room was above the resturant below and you had little noise, yes learn out of your window and yes you can hear the street sounds, lovely breakfast

Location was fabulous and the staff super
In the evening after a long day wandering and seeing all the beautiful sights it was great to sit in the amazing bar area and relax down
What could be improved: Hidden steps in windy corridorsPhilippe from Netherlands – 6 March 2025 (9/10)
The staff was amazingly attentive.
The breakfast was great and well stocked.
The bar is cool.
The location is amazing…you cannot be in a better location for visiting Venice.
What could be improved: all was goodMrs from Italy – 2 March 2025 (9/10)
Fabulous location
What could be improved: No bannister or handrail up to the reception. It was raining and the stairs were marble so this could be a problem for some.
Difficult to open the windows due to pelmet curtains hanging over then. We had a huge beautiful ball of lights hanging outside our wnfow but it meant the room was rather illuminated.
* both of these issues would not stop us staying here again and we had a lovely stay.
