The Wi-Fi’s solid too, which is a lifesaver if you’re like me and need to check emails amid all the wandering, and at night, the area quiets down surprisingly fast – no rowdy bar crowds spilling out, just the occasional murmur of voices echoing off the walls.

Look, if you’re plotting a trip to Venice and want somewhere that feels genuinely connected to the city without the gimmicky tourist traps, Hotel Palazzina Sardi is a solid pick. It’s not the flashiest 4-star out there – no infinity pool or spa overlooking the Grand Canal – but that’s kind of the point; it’s intimate, with that 9.5 rating earned from real travelers who appreciate the thoughtful touches, like the complimentary umbrellas for those sudden Adriatic downpours. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially in the quieter months when you can snag a room without breaking the bank.   The location is perfect,5 minutes from piazza San Marco.
  The staff super professional and courteus.The bed was very confortable and the bathroom was enormous and new.
