Hotel Description

I remember pulling into Venezia Santa Lucia station on a drizzly afternoon last spring – you know, that time of year when the canals smell a bit more like adventure than algae – and thinking, okay, this is Venice, let’s not get lost in the first five minutes. The HOTIDAY Room Collection is right there on Rio Terà Lista di Spagna, just a stone’s throw from the station, which is a godsend if you’re hauling luggage over those uneven pavements. Honestly, it’s in the heart of Cannaregio, that less touristy district where locals actually live and shop along Strada Nova – think fresh pasta spots and those tiny bacari bars serving cicchetti that hit different after a long train ride. I mean, no need for a vaporetto right away; you can wander to the Ponte degli Scalzi bridge in like two minutes and catch your first real glimpse of the Grand Canal, all bustling with gondolas and that misty light that makes everything feel like a painting. The hotel itself? It’s this sleek, modern collection of rooms tucked into an old building – four stars, sure, but it doesn’t scream luxury; it’s more like a comfortable hideaway from the chaos outside. Check-in was a breeze, even though I arrived during that post-lunch rush when everyone’s scrambling for rooms – the staff were chatty, slipping in tips about avoiding the crowds at the Jewish Ghetto nearby, which is just a short stroll north.

What really sold me on the place was how it balances that Venetian charm with practical perks. My room overlooked the rio – well, sort of a side view, but you could hear the gentle lap of water against the stones at night, mixed with the occasional murmur of passersby on Lista di Spagna. It’s not dead quiet, mind you; that street gets lively in the evenings with folks heading to dinner, so if you’re a light sleeper, ask for a back room (they’re a bit cozier anyway, with those exposed beams that feel authentically old-school). The beds are plush, like sinking into a cloud after traipsing around all day, and the bathroom had this rainfall shower that washed away the grime from exploring – plus, free toiletries that actually smelled good, not like cheap hotel soap. Breakfast? Oh, man, it’s included and served in this bright courtyard space – fresh cornetti, cappuccino strong enough to wake the dead, and even some gluten-free options if that’s your thing. I appreciated the little touches, like the in-room Nespresso machine for that mid-afternoon pick-me-up, and how they offer bike rentals (though, in Venice? Ha, more for laughs than actual use). Parking’s nonexistent, of course – this is car-free territory – but they pointed me to the Piazzale Roma garages, just a quick walk or water bus away. It’s rated an 8.2 for a reason; nothing over-the-top, but solid value in a city where everything costs an arm and a leg.

Look, if you’re coming to Venice for the romance or the history, this spot in Cannaregio lets you dip in without the overwhelming hordes of San Marco. It’s perfect for a long weekend – say, avoiding peak summer when the heat turns the streets into saunas – or even off-season when you can snag deals and have the place to yourself. Sure, the Wi-Fi can be spotty during busy times (blame the thick walls, I guess), but who cares when you’re steps from real-life magic? I’d go back in a heartbeat; it’s that kind of reliable base that makes the trip memorable, not just another hotel blur.

  • Selen from Turkey – 23 December 2024 (8/10)

Amazing breakfast. Closed to train station and room facilities are good.

  • Sass from Estonia – 11 March 2025 (8/10)

+ Location near pIazza di roma bus station, good walking distance with 3 year old son:)
+ breakfast had pancake machine and also scrambled eggs and beacon, which is not ordinary for cheap stays under 100 eur/per night in March.
+ room had small bath which was perfect for kid

What could be improved: – extremely thin walls, all sounds and words from other rooms are audible. I have not experienced so thin walls. I read reviwes but I was still amazed.
    – broken coffe maker with tea and sugar and cups on the room table with printed A4 that says “not working” – just take this away from the room please, and make a room for something else:)
    – check in process was automatic but had errors, for instance id card of 3-year-old was not accepted and check in took 15 minutes at front desk despite it was done via online check in as well.
    – as hotiday just uses a room from amadeus hotel hotel wont give you an invoice

  • Jani from Finland – 27 August 2024 (9/10)

    Breakfast good.
    Good location for transportation.

What could be improved: A bit too much noise from the street.
The shower leaked, but promised to fix it

  • Viktoriia from Russia – 20 August 2024 (8/10)

All is great: rooms, bed, staff, location, breakfast. And it is very clean. Incredibly good spot. I definitely will recommend this place to all my friends.

What could be improved: Only one thing: it was no view in my room, even if I was requested for it in advance (I never book rooms without the view). So it was a bit unpleasant to see the wall of another building in my window and it was constantly a bit dark… If you stay 3 days in the hotel it's really not comfortable. And other people, who stayed just 1 night, got very nice rooms with lots of light in it. So… That was a bit frustrating.
