Hotel Description
I remember stepping off the vaporetto at the Giudecca stop – you know, the one right by the Fondamenta Croce, where the water taxis bob around like they’re in no hurry – and thinking, wow, this is Venice but without the crush of tourists elbowing you every five seconds. The Iconic – Best View in Venice is tucked away on this quieter island, just a short boat ride from the madness of San Marco, and honestly, that separation makes all the difference. My first glimpse was from the canal side: this sleek four-star spot with its modern facade blending right into the old brick warehouses nearby – not too flashy, but you can tell it’s got that understated Italian elegance. Check-in was a breeze, even though we arrived a bit early after a delayed train from Milan; the staff – mostly locals who chat about the best hidden osterias on Dorsoduro – had our room ready in no time, with a welcome glass of prosecco that tasted like summer (crisp and bubbly, not the overly sweet stuff you get in tourist traps). And the views? Oh man, they’re not kidding with the name. Our balcony overlooked the Giudecca Canal straight across to the glittering domes of San Giorgio Maggiore – especially magical at sunset when the water turns this golden-pink hue, and you hear the distant hum of boats mixed with church bells echoing over from the main island.
What really sets this place apart, though – and I say this as someone who’s stayed in a dozen Venice spots over the years – is how it feels like a peaceful retreat without skimping on the comforts. The rooms are spacious for Venice standards (you know how cramped some can be), with these huge windows that frame the lagoon like a living postcard, and beds so comfy you sink in after a day of wandering. I mean, we had a junior suite with a little sitting area, and the bathroom had those heated marble floors – a godsend in the cooler months when the mist rolls in off the water. Breakfast is served on a terrace that catches the morning sun, with fresh pastries from a bakery down the street (try the cornetti with apricot jam; they’re flaky and not too sweet), plus eggs made to order – nothing fancy, but way better than the buffet slop in some bigger hotels. It’s not perfect, though; the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the evenings when everyone’s streaming, and if you’re not a fan of stairs, note that the elevator’s on the smaller side (Venice buildings, am I right?). But practical stuff like that fades when you’re sipping coffee and watching the vaporettos glide by. Oh, and pro tip: skip the overpriced gondolas and walk five minutes to the Palanca stop for a quick hop to Zattere – great for gelato at Nico’s, which locals swear by.
All in all, if you’re after that iconic Venice magic without the non-stop bustle – think fewer selfie sticks and more space to breathe – this is your spot. It’s rated a stellar 9.7 for good reason, and at four stars, it punches above its weight without breaking the bank (though book early in high season, like May to September, when rates climb and the island gets a bit busier with art biennale crowds). I left feeling like I’d actually lived a slice of Venetian life, not just ticked off a checklist. You won’t regret it – well, unless you hate stunning views, in which case, why are you in Venice anyway?

Perfect view & stay in Venice! – Andrius from Lithuania – 2 January 2025 (10/10)
The best property in Venice! The flat is very spacious, in reality is much bigger and nicer than in pictures. The view is magnificent! The island itself is very quiet with a couple of great restaurants (much cheaper than in main island). The host and communication also was very smooth and fast. Everything was just perfect! Hope to come back soon 🙂
Simply the best view of Venice – Anita from Australia – 6 October 2024 (10/10)
This place is really something else! The views, the art and the decor – it’s all perfection.
Being able to watch the ever changing light hit the bay and the buildings of San Marco was so special.
We found great places to eat, a grocer and bars all within close walking distance. The water taxi is also located within a 2 minute walk from the property.
My family and I are keen to return to this special part of Venice. Thank you for a memorable stay Sonia!

Beautifully furnished, very comfortable and incredible view. Hosts were very kind and helpful, letting us check in early and check out late. Location is away from the crowds but easily accessible by vaporetto, with an unrivalled view of Piazza San Marco from the living room and kitchen. Book it now!
Exceptional – Danwwong from Singapore – 28 May 2024 (10/10)
Loved the view and the Guidecca location of this wonderfully modern and spacious apartment, which in itself was also beautifully decorated. Hosts Sonia n Claudio were most welcoming n responsive to our various queries.
Overall we loved our stay!
What could be improved: No major issues to raise besides the lack of a lift and laundry facilities, which is understandable for such apetments so close to Venice city.Excellent view and a modern apartment on Guidecca – Pereira from United Kingdom – 13 May 2024 (10/10)
The 2 bed apartment was on Guidecca which is 1 stop from San Marco square and was very convenient to walk from the vaporetto stop Zitelle on Guidecca to the accoommodation, literally 3 min walk. The view from the apartment was fantastic overlooking Doge's palace and the south lagoon. The apartment itself was very clean, modern and comfortable with good linene and towels. The owner 's son met us at the vaporetto stop and showed us to teh partment. Please note there is no lift and so one does have to climbg 52 steps. The owners son spent a lot of time with us and was very friendly and informative. It was my birthday and the owner very kindly provided a bottle of wine. Guidecca itself was a lovely place and loads of restaurants by the water but be sure to book in peak season. We recommend this property. The owner was very helpful and communication excellent
