Il sogno di Pier Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the narrow streets of San Polo to reach Il sogno di Pier, you honestly feel like you’re discovering one of Venice’s best-kept secrets. This four-star boutique property sits right in the heart of one of the city’s most authentic neighborhoods, and I mean that — you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds that swarm around San Marco here. The entrance is understated in that perfectly Italian way, where elegance doesn’t need to shout about itself.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying in San Polo — you’re actually living like a local while still being walking distance from everything that matters. Venice can feel overwhelming with all the day-trippers, but this area has a different rhythm entirely. You’ll find yourself wandering past tiny bacari (those little wine bars locals actually frequent) and stumbling upon the Rialto Market in the morning when fishmongers are still setting up their stalls. The location score of 10.0 isn’t just marketing fluff — couples consistently rave about how romantic and authentic this neighborhood feels, especially in the evenings when the crowds thin out.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had that perfect balance of Venetian character and modern comfort that’s honestly hard to find in this city. You know what struck me most? The attention to detail — from the way morning light filtered through the windows to the quality of the linens. It’s not overly ornate like some places that try too hard to be “authentically Venetian,” but there’s definitely character in the design choices. The space felt intimate without being cramped, which is no small feat given Venice’s architectural constraints.
Daily Rhythms
Mornings here have this lovely, unhurried quality — you can actually hear the city waking up rather than being jolted awake by tour groups. I’d often grab coffee from a local spot just around the corner (the staff gives great recommendations) and then wander through the sestiere before the day really got going. What’s nice is that you’re close enough to major attractions that you can pop back to the hotel during the day if you need a break, something that’s actually pretty valuable when you’re dealing with Venice’s summer heat or winter dampness.
Why Guests Love It
The 9.5 rating really makes sense once you’ve experienced the place — it’s that rare combination of location, comfort, and genuine hospitality that’s hard to replicate. Staff members seem to actually care about making your stay memorable rather than just checking boxes, and they know the neighborhood well enough to point you toward experiences you might miss otherwise. For couples especially, there’s something about the intimate scale and romantic setting that just works. You’re not staying in a hotel that could be anywhere — you’re staying somewhere that could only exist in this particular corner of Venice, and that distinction matters more than you might expect.

Great location, large size quality fitting and furniture
John from United Kingdom – 19 May 2024 (10/10)
Location was excellent and the apartment was exceptional, spacious and tastefully furnished, with everything provided to make our visit perfect. I would highly recommend this to my friends
What could be improved: The info supplied for finding the property provided by Booking.com was very poor. Also no info was given as to what actual apartment to contact when we arrived. We had to ring all 6 door bells. However, the hostess was very helpful on the telephone.Livia from Hungary – 15 May 2024 (10/10)
The apartment is fantastic, very well located, fully equipped with high quality decor and furnitures and those extra little things, which can make your stay wonderfull. As a gift we also had a welcome drink and snacks. Highly recommend!

We loved the decor and art spacious property
What could be improved: I spoke to the host the day before we left and was not informed there was a planned power cut the following day so we were not prepared. It was the day we left so cold shower no hair washing and packing in very dim lightJulie from Australia – 28 September 2023 (10/10)
The apartment was amazing, it was bright and remarkably cool and beautifully furnished. We had everything that we needed and more including a welcome bottle of bubbles and snacks. We were met by Betty who explained everything to us and recommended local eateries. The bed was super comfortable and the apartment was very peaceful. We will be back. Grazie Mille Carla!
What could be improved: There was nothing not to like.Gammon from United States – 27 September 2023 (8/10)
The apartment was beautifully appointed with no detail left undone. Very comfortable and spacious. Location was in a quiet neighborhood but easy to arrive at the city center. Highly recommend.
What could be improved: Finding the apartment was a challenge if you have never been to Venice. Host did send her housekeeper to meet us but there was some miscommunication so we were delayed checking in. I would recommend providing written instruction on how to find the apartment once you enter the piazza rather than just a photo.Tugay from Turkey – 16 September 2023 (9/10)
It was clean, big and had every tool a home needs. Pretty cozy place with a canal view. As a gift, they give you prosecco.
What could be improved: Unfortunately, lots of mosquitos.Trudy from Australia – 2 September 2023 (9/10)

The apartment was fabulous. We totally loved it. The bed was comfortable and the apartment had everything you would want. The host was more than helpful and was always available to answer questions. She was an amazing, going above and beyond to help. Would totally recommend this gem!

The apartment was gorgeous. It felt like a home, with lovely furnishings, art and sculptures. Nothing about it suggested that is was just a rental. Rather, all aspects were done with an eye to style and fine taste. Carla and Elisabetta were generous and responsive to our needs and questions. We've stayed in many apartments while traveling. None exceeded Il Sogno di Pier.
