The building itself has that weathered Venetian charm you can’t fake, with those classic shuttered windows that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a postcard.

The San Polo Advantage

You know what’s brilliant about staying here? San Polo is actually where Venetians live and work, not just where they pose for Instagram photos. I’ve watched locals grab their morning coffee at the corner bar while cruise ship crowds are still figuring out how to get off the Rialto Bridge. The Frari church is practically next door — and trust me, it’s got some of the best art in the city without the Doge’s Palace queues. Plus, you’re close enough to walk to San Marco in about ten minutes, but far enough away that you can escape the madness when you need to.

Inside Your Space

The room I stayed in had this perfect mix of old Venice character and modern comfort that’s honestly hard to pull off. We’re talking original beamed ceilings and terrazzo floors, but also proper air conditioning (which, believe me, you’ll appreciate in summer). The windows opened onto a quiet courtyard — well, as quiet as Venice gets — and the whole space felt more like a carefully restored apartment than a hotel room. The bathroom was compact but smartly designed, which is pretty much what you’d expect in a historic building where every square meter counts.

The Neighborhood Experience

What I really loved was stepping out the front door and immediately being part of the neighborhood rhythm. There’s this tiny campo about two minutes away where kids play football while their nonnas chat on benches — it’s the kind of scene that reminds you Venice is actually a living city. The morning market at the Rialto is close enough for a quick stroll, and you’ll find yourself taking different routes each time because, well, getting slightly lost in Venice is half the fun. I discovered my favorite cicchetti spot just by following the sound of locals laughing over wine.

Why Guests Love It

Couples especially seem to get what this place is about — it’s got that intimate, tucked-away feeling that makes Venice feel like your own private discovery. The location score of 9.7 makes total sense when you realize you can walk to everything that matters but still retreat to a peaceful corner when the tourist crowds get overwhelming. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it nails that sweet spot of authentic Venetian living with just enough comfort to make you want to extend your stay. Actually, I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what happened to the couple in the room next to mine.

  Two completely separate bedrooms on different floors … each with their own full bathroom. This made it super convenient for family of 4!

  We truly loved everything! The property is tucked away in an area not far from the Rialto Bridge. Each room was well appointed with nice pillows, towels, and shower soaps. The rooms were large and comfortable with space for unpacking.
  The common room had everything we needed! The property owners are so nice & responsive!

  Each spacious bedroom was a master suite with a brand new en-suite bathroom. Both bedrooms which were located on the upper 2 levels could be locked out for privacy and security. The king beds were very comfortable and the bedding and new towels were high quality.
  
  The main floor living area was cozy and perfect for 2 couples to have an occasional meal and play some card games. The kitchen was nicely equipped, and at the time of our stay everything was new and high quality.
  
  What could be improved: Not apartment-related, but it would be wise to be aware of the high tide tables as there can be flooded streets in Venice. The apartment had two steps up before entering and therefore no problems whatsoever inside, but a 105 cm high tide did flood the approach street a bit.
