Klimt House Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Klimt House feels like discovering a hidden gem tucked away in the heart of San Marco — and honestly, that’s exactly what it is. This four-star boutique hotel sits right in the thick of Venice‘s most iconic neighborhood, where you can literally step outside and be surrounded by centuries of history. The entrance might seem modest from the street, but once you’re inside, there’s this intimate, almost residential feel that makes you forget you’re staying in one of the world’s busiest tourist districts.
The Location Magic
You know what’s brilliant about this spot? You’re genuinely in the center of everything without feeling overwhelmed by crowds. I mean, St. Mark’s Square is practically on your doorstep, but the hotel itself sits on a quieter stretch where you can actually hear yourself think. The recent guests weren’t kidding when they rated the location so highly — it’s that sweet spot where you can duck into Doge’s Palace or catch a gondola within minutes, then retreat to your peaceful base. Couples especially seem to get this balance, and I can see why it works so well for romantic getaways.
The Room Experience
The rooms here strike this nice balance between Venetian character and modern comfort. You’ll find thoughtful touches that nod to the city’s artistic heritage (the Klimt connection isn’t just in the name), but nothing feels overdone or touristy. Each room has its own personality — some overlook the canal, others face the charming courtyard. The beds are genuinely comfortable, which matters more than you’d think after long days wandering Venice’s endless bridges and alleyways.
Daily Rhythms
Mornings here feel special because you can start your day before the tour groups descend on San Marco. The staff knows the neighborhood rhythms and can point you toward the best early morning coffee spots — actually, they’re pretty generous with local insights that you won’t find in guidebooks. There’s something to be said for staying somewhere that feels connected to the real Venice, not just the postcard version. The evening return is equally nice; while day-trippers head back to the mainland, you get to experience the neighborhood as it settles into its quieter, more authentic evening pace.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets Klimt House apart is how it manages to feel both central and serene. You’re not sacrificing location for peace or vice versa — somehow, you get both. The 8.7 rating makes sense when you experience how the staff balances professional service with genuine warmth, and how the building itself feels like a well-kept secret despite being steps from Venice’s main attractions. It’s the kind of place where you can plan ambitious sightseeing days knowing you’ll have a proper retreat to come back to, which honestly makes all the difference in a city that can be as exhausting as it is beautiful.
Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in Venice before acqua alta alerts to snag suites with private fondaco docks.

The location was perfect, and the apartment was wonderful. The staff was so responsive and helped immensely with our trip.

Excellent location, spatious, very clean.
What could be improved: Beds are not quite comfortable, water pressure at the bathroom sink is very low, garbage disposal is a bit weird.Susan from United Kingdom – 15 August 2023 (8/10)
Property was clean and very close to St Marks Square and the Vaporetta stations. Accommodation was on the second floor but was serviced by a lift if this didn’t appeal at the end of a long day. Kitchen was well equipped should you wish to cater whilst in Venice
What could be improved: Property was a little dark because it lacked ceiling lights but overall didn’t affect our stay. The recycling was a little confusing but we managed.Paresh from United States – 2 August 2023 (9/10)
Very helpful staff. We got locked out because we left the key, and it was late at night, and the staff showed up in a timely manner and let us back in. That was very thoughtful and sweet of them. Great location walking distance from San Marco Square. Fancy shops close by. Functional kitchen, two large bedrooms, great living space. elevator in the building. Very helpful for my elderly mother.

The location is perfect. The flat is big. Gut choice for the family/ two couples.
What could be improved: In the first bedroom ( big bed) – bedbugs.Aivo from Estonia – 31 March 2023 (9/10)
Location was perfect. The elevator is small but we managed also with wheelchair. It will be difficult with big wheelchair. there is an electric trash can by the kitchenette. Its cover pops up every time you pass it and it's pretty annoying. But you can switch it off.
The bathroom has a shower in the bath. The shower faucet is very high and taking a shower is not comfortable because there is no curtain and the water gets on the floor.
Everything else was very good.
What could be improved: Close to the apartment is San Vidal Church were we went to listen Vivaldi's Four Seasons performed by an Interpreti Veneziani. Fantastic as well as La Traviata, Travelling Opera in a historic palace on Grand Canal. Opera took place in Musica Palazzo in the Fondamento Duodo o Barbarigo. Truly great and hearty performance in the beautiful Palace.Gabriel from Romania – 26 December 2022 (9/10)
Very nice apartment located in the perfect spot. Everything one needs for a stay in Venice was there, wrapped in a stylish design. The beds were comfortable, there was plenty of space in the living room. You could make your own coffee, but my suggestion is to drink your coffee out on a terrace in Venice.
What could be improved: A small inconvenient was the late check-in fee. which applied due to a delay in our flight.Kathryn from United Kingdom – 14 October 2022 (7/10)
Great location.
What could be improved: All good, except fridge was not great at keeping food very cool and no shower screen/curtain in bathroom.Roxy_nahariya from Israel – 4 July 2022 (5/10)
The welcome to the apartment was professional. The apartment was large and light. Included a well stocked kitchen, laundry facilities, and good crisp bed linens. Location is excellent for visiting sites and dining establishments.
What could be improved: The apartments' furnishings felt tired. The luxurious looking sofas were flat and worn out. The mattresses were uncomfortable. The air-conditioners were exceptionally noisy therefore disturbing our sleep. The fans hardly moved any air. The shower enclosure fitted within the bath didn't stop the spray from splashing outside. The water pressure was low.
