Hotel Description
You know, stumbling upon La Corte dei Cuoridoro 2 Canal View in the heart of San Marco felt like one of those lucky finds that only happens when you’re wandering Venice’s twisty alleys on foot – no cars here, obviously, so I dragged my suitcase over the bridges from the vaporetto stop at San Marco Vallaresso. It’s tucked away at 1823, just a stone’s throw from the bustling Calle Larga XXII Marzo, where all the fancy shops spill out toward St. Mark’s Square. Honestly, my first impression was pure relief after dodging the midday tourist crush; the place has this understated elegance, like an old Venetian palazzo that’s been gently spruced up without losing its soul. The entrance is unassuming – a heavy wooden door that creaks open to a small courtyard (corte, get it?) with potted geraniums catching the afternoon sun. I arrived in late spring, when the canals start to hum with gondola traffic, and the faint salty tang of the water mixed with espresso from a nearby café just set the mood right away.
What really won me over, though, was the canal view from my room – it’s not some generic overlook; you’re gazing straight out at the Rio di San Moisè, with its lazy boat parades and the occasional splash of an oar. The rooms are cozy in that authentic Italian way, with exposed beams overhead and these plush, sink-into-them beds that make you forget the jet lag. I mean, it’s a 4-star spot with a 9.4 rating for a reason – the staff are locals who actually chat with you, not just hand over keys; one guy even tipped me off about skipping the overpriced restaurants on the square and heading to a hidden osteria on Campo Santo Stefano instead. Breakfast is served in a sunny nook downstairs, nothing extravagant but fresh croissants, cappuccino that tastes like it was pulled by a pro, and fruit that’s actually ripe – a far cry from those sad hotel buffets elsewhere. Oh, and the Wi-Fi? Surprisingly zippy for such an old building, which was a lifesaver for mapping out my days. That said, the narrow stairs (no elevator, classic Venice) might be a hassle if you’re hauling heavy bags, and during peak season like July, you can hear the murmur of crowds filtering in from the streets until late – but it quiets down by midnight, leaving just the gentle lap of water outside your window.
All in all, if you’re chasing that real Venice vibe without the sterile chain-hotel feel, this place is a gem – especially for couples or solo travelers who want to feel immersed rather than isolated. It’s steps from the Fenice opera house, so you could catch a show and stroll back without a fuss, and honestly, waking up to that canal view beats any postcard. I’d go back in a heartbeat, maybe in quieter fall when the fog rolls in and the whole city feels like a secret – just pack light and embrace the walk. You won’t regret it.

Large spacious rooms. Good location. Great to watch the gondola's go by from the balconies.
What could be improved: There was quite alot of external noise coming from the canals. The garbage was collected from across the building and there was also building works taking place across from this apartment.Nikolaos from Greece – 24 August 2024 (10/10)
A comfortable, clean apartment in the center of Venice. Helpful people. We enjoyed everything.
Paul from United States – 12 July 2024 (10/10)
Great location. Beautiful apartment. Good air conditioning.
What could be improved: The front door was very difficult to open. The clothes washing machine was difficult to use. But neither of these should reflect poorly on an otherwise amazing experience.Andrew from Australia – 20 June 2024 (10/10)
Sensational living area, large bedrooms, quality furnishings and a sense of enormous space make this a superb property. Intimate canal view from six balconies and perfect location in San Marco could not be better. Staff were fantastic, Rossana especially helpful organising arrival and water taxi.
