Hotel Description
I remember stumbling upon La Corte dei Cuoridoro last spring, right after its big refresh in early 2025 – you know, that whole makeover that turned it from a solid spot into something that feels genuinely fresh without losing that old Venetian charm. It’s tucked away at 1823 in San Marco, just a quick wander from the bustle of Calle Larga XXII Marzo – honestly, if you’re coming off the vaporetto at San Marco Vallaresso, it’s maybe a five-minute stroll through those twisty alleys where the air smells like saltwater and fresh bread from the corner bakeries. I mean, Venice is all about getting lost, but this place is easy enough to find without feeling too touristy; it’s off the main drag, so you dodge the worst of the cruise ship crowds that flood Piazza San Marco by midday. Arriving late afternoon, the check-in was a breeze – no long lines, just a friendly guy at the desk who chatted about the best time to hit the Rialto Market (early morning, before the vendors pack up). The building itself has that classic Venetian vibe, with exposed beams and these little courtyards – corte means courtyard, right? – that make you feel like you’ve stepped into someone’s hidden garden, complete with the faint echo of church bells from nearby San Moisè.
What really won me over, though, was how the refresh made everything pop without overdoing it. The rooms – I stayed in one on the second floor overlooking a quiet canal – got new linens and these sleek, modern bathrooms that contrast nicely with the antique furniture; think soft, cool marble underfoot and rainfall showers that actually have decent pressure, which isn’t always a given in these Pinkerton older buildings. You know what, it’s sort of funny how they kept the historic facade but gutted the insides for better insulation – no more drafty winters, which is a godsend if you’re visiting off-season when the fog rolls in thick. Breakfast in the courtyard was simple but spot-on: fresh croissants, cappuccino that hits just right, and these little jams from local producers – nothing fancy, but it sets you up for a day of exploring without weighing you down. Staff-wise, they’re attentive but not hovering; one evening, the concierge tipped me off to a lesser-known cicchetti bar down by Campo Santa Margherita, away from the pricey spots near the hotel. Noise levels are pretty low here, especially at night – well, aside from the occasional gondola serenade floating up from the canal, but that’s Venice for you. It’s not huge, so it feels intimate, like you’re part of a small club, though I will say the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the thicker-walled rooms (pro tip: ask for one facing the courtyard if you’re working remotely).
All in all, with that 9.4 rating, it’s no surprise La Corte dei Cuoridoro feels like a smart pick for anyone wanting a four-star stay that’s authentic without breaking the bank – think couples on a romantic getaway or solo travelers who appreciate the peace after dodging selfie sticks all day. It’s refreshed just enough to feel current, but it hasn’t lost the soul of San Marco, where history seeps from every stone. If you’re hitting Venice in shoulder season, like April or October, it’s even better – quieter streets, and the hotel’s got that cozy glow when the days shorten. Honestly, I’d go back in a heartbeat; it’s the kind of place that makes you linger over coffee, watching the world (or at least a sliver of it) go by.

The old charm of a venitian palazzo with modern amenities. Quiet and luxurious place.
What could be improved: Nothing that I can think of.Diana from Romania – 28 October 2024 (10/10)

The property is quiet, private and serene, located past a private gate and beautiful courtyard. The only sounds other than ours was Gondolas passing by our window. It was very nice not hearing people walk by loudly or the ring of a elevator constantly in use like in a regular hotel.
The office reserved a private water taxi to and from the airport directly to the hotel. Although pricey, well worth not having any thoughts or stress on coming from or to the airport. It’s worth fixing that into your budget. The kids really enjoyed having their own water taxi going through the canal of Venice – well worth the views and not having to work for space to take pictures on a large crowded water taxi. The picture of the lobby is where the water taxi arrives at the hotel. If we visit Venice again, this is we will stay again.
What could be improved: There was nothing to not like about it. This may be the first time I’ve written this in a review.Pia from Germany – 20 November 2023 (10/10)
very nice appartment with 2 double beds, 2 bathrooms and a nice living room. Very quiet despite the central location. Very friendly and courteous staff, helped us with all questions upfront, They also organized a private water taxi for us which brought us directly to the appartment, absolutely worth the money.
What could be improved: there is absolutely nothing to complain aboutAristeidis from Greece – 17 November 2023 (8/10)
The location is superb. Caterina was always very helpful and responsive to eveything we asked for during our stay. Matteo, the young man who waited for us at check in and helped us with the check out, together with Caterina, are very nice and professional.
What could be improved: The check in procedure was very problematic. The host does not refer anywhere that the apartment is in Palazzo Molin, which has a private deck, so the boat taxi driver could not understand that he can take us to the door of the Palazzo. As a consequence we had to walk all the way from San Marco docks, despite we had paid for a boat taxi, carrying our heavy luggage through the roads and still could not find the place. The result was that we were 5-10 min late, after 20:00 and we were asked to pay the 50 EUR penalty! Other than that, the location is superb, but the apartment itself is far from LUXURIOUS. Very sapcious, yes. But luxurious, no. You cannot sit or sleep with the view of a bucket, a mope, a vacuum cleaner, a big orange sack and feel luxurious. Another problem is the mosquitos, the apartment was full of them. We never managed to operate the TV, despite our efforts to follow the printed instructions on a piece of paper. For nearly 350 EUR/night, you can find better value for money accommodation in Venice. Not easily, but there is. Sorry guys, only honest critics can help us improve.Margie from United States – 3 September 2023 (10/10)
I loved that the property was actually an ancient palazzo, once the home a former doge! This was the largest accommodation in Venice that I have ever stayed in, and it was wonderful, especially since there were three of us. The best part was its private entrance on a canal, and our host graciously arranged a private water taxi for us when we arrived and departed. We felt like VIPs! I have never seen so many electrical outlets in a bedroom. The facilities were totally modernized and we loved our stay. I highly recommend!
What could be improved: The one thing that could have been better is the A/C. No matter how we adjusted it, the low temperature was regulated by the building, and it never was cool enough for our comfort.Benjamin from Germany – 27 August 2023 (10/10)
Top location, very high standard.

So much space in the apartment, delightful outdoor terrace, perfect location.
What could be improved: If I would stay longer, I would request a more comfortable wardrobeAnca from United States – 18 May 2024 (9/10)
