La Moretta Apartment Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the narrow streets of Santa Croce to find La Moretta Apartment, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from a three-star place in Venice — you know how the city can be with tourist traps. But when I finally located Corte Pugliese (and yes, it takes a minute to find these hidden courtyards), I was genuinely surprised. The building has that authentic Venetian charm without feeling like it’s trying too hard, and there’s something refreshing about staying in an actual apartment rather than a cookie-cutter hotel room.
The Santa Croce Advantage
Here’s what I didn’t realize until I stayed here — Santa Croce is actually one of the best neighborhoods for getting around Venice without dealing with the absolute chaos of San Marco. You’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the cruise ship crowds that you can actually breathe. The apartment sits in what locals consider the top-rated area, and honestly, after spending a few days there, I get why couples rate the location so highly. It’s romantic without being overly touristy, and you can walk to both the Rialto area and the train station without wanting to throw yourself in a canal from exhaustion.
The Space Itself
La Moretta Apartment feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical hotel — which is exactly what you want in Venice, I think. The apartment has that lived-in comfort that makes you want to actually spend time there, not just crash between sightseeing marathons. What struck me most was how they’ve managed to keep the original Venetian character (those floors, the windows) while making everything actually functional for modern travelers. The space isn’t huge — this is Venice, after all — but it’s thoughtfully laid out in a way that doesn’t make you feel cramped.
Getting Around
The location score of 9.4 isn’t just marketing fluff — it’s actually earned. From here, you can walk to the Frari church in about five minutes, hit the fish market at Rialto in ten, and you’re never more than a short stroll from a vaporetto stop. What I really appreciated was being able to duck back to the apartment during the day when the tourist hordes got overwhelming (and they will). Plus, there are some genuinely good local restaurants within a few blocks that most visitors never find because they’re not right on the main drags.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Venice can be exhausting and expensive, so finding a place that feels like a real home base makes all the difference. La Moretta Apartment gives you that authentic Venetian living experience without the premium price tag of a high-end hotel. The 9.3 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re actually getting — a comfortable, well-located apartment in one of the city’s most livable neighborhoods. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself planning your next Venice trip before you’ve even left, which is honestly the best recommendation I can give any accommodation in this wonderfully complicated city.

Reviews of La Moretta Apartment
Ourania from Greece – 14 October 2024 (10/10)
The apartment is situated in the heart of Venice, close to both piazzale Roma (12 min walk) and Railway station Santa Lucia (8 min walk). A vaporetto stop is also very close (150 meters) making it very comfortable also for those who want to take the local boat to cruise by the canals.
The house decoration is with a fine taste, also the lights are pieces of art some of them.
The bathroom was fully functioned with hot water all time, the bed was very comfy, the kitchen equipped with all necessary for prepare breakfast and lunch or diner, and the lounge was pretty nice for two people. Everything in this small apartment is decorated in the venetian way. The wifi was working fine, both in the lounge and bedroom area.
We were very happy to stay there for four days and wander around this unique city.
Nicola who was there for giving us the keys, he gave us also a lot of information about where to eat, what to see and where to go, always available by phone on any question we had. Overall we had one of the best travel experience.

amazing host! got recommended a nice restaurant with great price and of course-food and drinks. got everything expected for a trip in venice. apartment is equipped with stunning design furniture and great for instagrammable photos haha my friend and I was there for girls trip and totally enjoyed it! also has the dishes and all the basic needs, salt pepper and even olive oil! was easy to have some breakfast there as well.
Also very great location, close enough from both bus and railway station. had hard 10 min walk from the bus station with big luggage across few bridges, but was worth enough. vaporetto station is right around the corner, easy to get to anywhere around!
What could be improved: Wi-fi was not really available in living room area. working fine within the bedroom and toilet, and beware of stiff stairs if you have massive suitcase!Philipp from Germany – 30 September 2024 (10/10)
The organizer Nicola, was really nice and helped me a lot when I had a problem with another apartment.
It was a great stay and I would stay there again when I come to Venice.Christine from United Kingdom – 12 September 2024 (9/10)
Fantastic location, very close to a vaporetto stop. Lots of restaurants/ bars close by for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Well equipped and comfortable apartment with very friendly hosts.
What could be improved: A second armchair would have been lovely; and a suitcase rack.Dane from New Zealand – 30 July 2024 (10/10)
This is a fantastic place to stay. Modern and clean!

Had a great time in Venice, 2 nights. It was nice we didn't have to walk too far to this apartment from either the bus or train station, the perfect balance. Rolling & lifting luggage over stone streets and many many many bridges can be difficult for some, this apartment was the perfect place to start our Venice tour.
Apartment is a great size for couples and our host Nicola was very kind & helpful, meeting us upon arrival, also made restaurant recommendations. Thanks!

The decor had a cool aesthetic from different cultures. I loved that the property was only a 7 minute walk from the train station which was very nice coming in and out of the city.

The apartment is very nice and is ideal for two. Very romantic and cute. The owner was very kind and his explanations very helpful. There are plenty of restaurants and clubs just outside and it's nearby. Truly recommended.

The communication with the owner was excellent, he helped to find a good place to park the car.
The apartment was much more wonderful than in the pictures. A very nicely thought-out design, candles were placed in many places, the light of which reflected from the mirrors and made the atmosphere even more romantic.
The bed was soft, comfortable and pleasant. Each had cute slippers and a bathrobe. The kitchen had everything you need.
And since we came to celebrate the New Year, we even had a nice present. 🙂
If I had the chance, I would rate this apartment with 11 instead of 10 stars 🙂
