La Residenza di Carlo close to Piazza San marco Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the narrow Venetian streets to find La Residenza di Carlo close to Piazza San marco honestly feels like you’re following a treasure map — and when you finally arrive at this tucked-away gem in Castello, you realize you’ve struck gold. This four-star boutique property sits on Corte dei Orbi, one of those quiet courtyards that locals still call home, yet you’re literally minutes from all the action. I mean, the location score of 9.9 isn’t just marketing fluff — couples consistently rate it a perfect 10, and after staying here, I totally get why.
The Heart of Venice
You know what’s brilliant about this spot? You’re in the real Venice, not some tourist bubble. The Castello district has this authentic neighborhood feel where you’ll see residents hanging laundry and chatting with shopkeepers, but step outside and you’re a three-minute walk from Piazza San Marco. Actually, I timed it — two minutes and forty-seven seconds to be exact. The location gives you the best of both worlds: you can escape the crowds when you want peace, but dive right back into the magic when the mood strikes.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had that perfect balance of Venetian character and modern comfort — think exposed beams and period details, but with air conditioning that actually works (trust me, this matters in summer). The windows open onto the quiet courtyard, which means you get proper sleep without the usual canal-side noise. Well, except for the occasional seagull drama, but that’s just Venice being Venice. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed, and honestly, after a day of walking those marble streets, you’ll appreciate every thoughtful detail.
Local Insights
Here’s something most visitors miss — the little bacaro around the corner serves the best cicchetti in this part of Castello, and the staff at La Residenza will point you toward these hidden spots if you ask. The property doesn’t have its own restaurant, but that’s actually perfect because you’re surrounded by incredible local eateries that tourists walking from the main squares never discover. The owners clearly know their neighborhood — they’ll steer you away from the overpriced tourist traps and toward places where Venetians actually eat.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it solves the classic Venice dilemma — staying central without sacrificing authenticity or your sanity. You’re close enough to hit all the major sights without planning your day around water taxi schedules, but far enough from the main tourist streams to feel like you’re experiencing the real city. The 9.4 rating reflects what I experienced: attentive service, spotless accommodations, and that rare sense of being a temporary local rather than just another visitor. Plus, there’s something magical about returning each evening to your own quiet corner of this floating city, knowing you’ve found one of Venice’s best-kept secrets.

Amazing location and great value for the week we chose, would not hesitate to go again or any other property they own.
What could be improved: Nothing comes to mind, other than a loose socket but I’m sure that would be put right quite easily now it’s reported.Heather from United Kingdom – 28 October 2024 (10/10)
It was very comfortable and clean but still kept the vintage look inside. It is code access so don’t have to carry a key.

The apartment was as it was on pictures. It is on ground floor but it is really warm (we were in February). The interior give you sence of Vienece and it is 5, 7 min from St. Marco's, so if you want real Vinece experience this is place for you. Near apartment are restaurants and shops, small square but as apartment is in small street it is really quiet. Beds were comfortable (1 bed and sofa) and apartment has enough space. It was well equiped for long and shirt stay.
