The hotel’s tucked away at 6015 Cannaregio, just off the main drag of Strada Nova, which means you’re steps from that buzzing stretch of local shops and eateries – think hole-in-the-wall bacari serving cicchetti and spritz for a fraction of what you’d pay in San Marco. I mean, it’s not smack in the middle of the action, but that’s the charm; you can actually hear the gentle lap of water against the fondamenta at night instead of tour groups yelling. Check-in was a breeze – the staff, this mix of locals and a super-friendly guy from Rome, sorted me out in minutes, even with my broken Italian, and pointed me to a quiet vaporetto stop nearby for easy hops to the islands. Oh, and parking? Forget it if you’re driving; Venice is all about boats and feet, but they hooked me up with tips on the Piazzale Roma garages if you insist.

What really sold me on the place was how it nailed that authentic Venetian vibe without trying too hard – you know, like those old palazzos that have been around forever, with exposed wooden beams and marble floors that are cool underfoot even in the humid afternoons. My room overlooked a narrow rio, and waking up to the sound of gondoliers chatting in dialect was pure magic, though fair warning, the church bells from nearby Madonna dell’Orto can jolt you awake around dawn if you’re a light sleeper. It’s a solid 4-star spot with a 9.1 rating that feels earned; breakfast is this spread of fresh cornetti, prosciutto, and cheeses in a sunny courtyard – nothing fancy, but way better than the overpriced cafes on the Grand Canal. I spent evenings strolling to the Jewish Ghetto, just a five-minute walk, grabbing dinner at spots like Gam Gam for kosher eats or along Fondamenta Misericordia for trendy bars that locals actually frequent. Rooms are cozy, sort of compact like most in Venice (don’t expect sprawling suites), and the Wi-Fi held up for my remote work calls, but the air con hummed a bit loudly in the warmer months – minor gripe, really, when the overall feel is so welcoming.

All in all, if you’re after a slice of real Venice – the kind where you bump into nonnas doing their shopping rather than selfie sticks – “Like a Miracle” is a gem. It’s not perfect; peak summer can bring some canal smells if the tide’s low, and those stairs might be a hassle with heavy luggage (ask for ground-floor if you need it). But honestly, for the price and that high rating, it’s the kind of place that makes you linger longer, maybe skip the crowded Piazza San Marco altogether and just soak in Cannaregio’s quieter rhythms. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season when the fog rolls in and it feels like your own private miracle.

  It is a beautiful apartment in a beautiful Venetian house with a courtyard and canal exit. Location is great, in my favourite part of Venice. House is well equipped and hosts are responsive and nice. I plan to stay here next time I come to Venice.

  The location was perfect, right in the heart of Venice. Communication was seamless and helpful recommendations on things to see. We were only visiting for a short time but would come back again.

  It’s quite a big apartment, it was a luxury having two toilets and all the facilities one could need were there. Also the location is PERFECT!
