Hotel Description
I stumbled upon Locanda Ca’ del Brocchi almost by accident last spring, when I was dodging the tourist hordes around San Marco and decided to hop on the vaporetto to the Accademia stop – you know, that big wooden bridge that connects to Dorsoduro. It’s tucked away on Rio Terà San Vio, this quiet little street that’s more like a hidden alley off the main drag, and honestly, after lugging my suitcase over a couple of bridges, finding it felt like a small victory. Venice can be a maze, especially if you’re not used to the no-cars thing, but this spot’s in a residential pocket that’s refreshingly low-key – no blaring boat horns at dawn, just the occasional splash from a passing gondola or the chatter of locals grabbing coffee at that tiny bar around the corner on Fondamenta Bragadin. The building itself is one of those classic Venetian townhouses, with faded frescoes on the walls and creaky wooden floors that sort of whisper history under your feet – I mean, it’s not flashy, but it feels authentic, like you’re staying in someone’s old family home rather than a cookie-cutter hotel.
What really won me over, though, was the vibe inside. The rooms are cozy – okay, small by American standards, but that’s Venice for you; mine had this high ceiling with exposed beams and a view over a narrow canal where I could watch the water taxis zip by in the evening light. The bed was surprisingly comfy, with those crisp white linens that smell faintly of lavender (or maybe that’s just my imagination after a day of wandering), and the bathroom, while compact, had a decent shower that didn’t flood the floor – a minor miracle in these old places. The owners, this friendly couple who speak great English, checked me in with zero fuss; they even pointed out the best route to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, which is literally a five-minute stroll away along the Zattere promenade. That’s the beauty of Dorsoduro – it’s artsy and laid-back, with spots like the Squero di San Trovaso gondola workshop nearby if you want to peek at real craftsmen at work. Breakfast was simple but solid: fresh croissants, yogurt, and strong espresso in a little courtyard that catches the morning sun – perfect for planning your day without the chaos of bigger hotels. Oh, and if you’re there in shoulder season like I was (April, before the summer crush), it’s blissfully quiet at night; no rowdy groups stumbling back from bars, just the gentle lap of water against the stones.
Look, it’s a 3-star spot with an 8.7 rating for a reason – not luxurious, but charming in that unpretentious way that makes you feel like you’ve discovered a secret. Sure, the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the thicker-walled rooms (pack a book, just in case), and if you’re traveling with big luggage, those stairs might test you since there’s no elevator. But for the price and location, it’s a gem – especially if you’re into exploring off the beaten path, like grabbing a spritz at a cicchetti bar on Campo Santa Margherita, about a 10-minute walk. I’d go back in a heartbeat; it reminded me why I love Venice beyond the postcards – that mix of romance and real life, you know? If you’re after a genuine taste of the city without breaking the bank, this is your spot.

Room, stuff, decoration was excellent and location was perfect to walk around Venice main attractions. I highly recomend.
What could be improved: There was nothing to dislike.Allison from United Kingdom – 25 October 2024 (9/10)
Beautiful hotel in a very quiet and beautiful part of Venice but so near to various Vaporetto stops , a supermarket and restaurants. The airport water taxi stop is very near to the hotel .
Venice is so beautiful 😍
Breakfast was so lovely and only €10.
We got upgraded to a room with a balcony and it was just perfect .
The staff were so lovely. I will definitely be back ,a lovely hotel in a perfect location!
What could be improved: The room aircon was fine for me but my daughter found the room too hot so she decided to keep the windows open 😆
Lots of mosquito bites lol but that's Venice .Bartłomiej from Poland – 17 October 2024 (9/10)
Nice, clean, and quiet location a bit off the city center, but close to main attractions. Small but clean and comfortable rooms with fridge and minibar. Relatively spacious bathroom.

Loved the room, so clean, so comfortable, absolutely lovely! It was great to come in every night to a toasty warm room. Felt very safe and secure!
What could be improved: When we booked the accommodation, it said we had breakfast included, but upon arrival it was made apparent that it was not part of the total price. This was very disappointing. The accommodation listing should update their amenities on the booking listing to clarify that breakfast is merely only available, not "included".Ladybug624 from United States – 4 October 2024 (9/10)
Staff were very friendly. Quaint and eloquent. Cost of breakfast reasonable at least.
What could be improved: It was hard to find once let off by water taxi.Felt breakfast should have been included. Missed my air conditioner…if I left window open mosquitoes came in. If kept it shut room was rather warm until sometime in the night.Anna from Canada – 15 September 2024 (9/10)
Everything!

perfect location in a quiet and picturesque area just a bridge away from all the touristy spots, very nicely decorated and kind owners
Mutyora from United Kingdom – 24 August 2024 (9/10)
Everything! Just what we needed to explore Venice peacefully. Peaceful cul-de-sac street quiet even in august
What could be improved: If I had to choose anything, only that the water pressure was a bit low but this may have been due to works in the area rather than the property itself.Karen from United Kingdom – 16 August 2024 (9/10)
The plugs weren't normal European
The towel rail fell off
The shower isn't a proper shower
What could be improved: The location was great
The staff were great
The room was comfy and quiet
